Hi, new here as a never in, we used both look for the word, find definition and such like but it was done as a way to increase our vocabulary and also to understand the literature we were reading since in most of our comprehension we were asked to use that word to make another sentence or write a small paragraph different to what we read or sometimes just asked the synonyms. I used my dictionary up until A level ( last year of high school in my country). Good luck for your studies, enjoy it, it never comes back the same way from a fellow university student.💕
Looking up words is normal way of learning the meaning. Also when studying a foreign language you cannot do without it.... so yes, it is pretty common thing. Thanks for sharing, both of you. You are lovely humans.
Prior to all the “controversy” and my being a complete stranger to the world of Scientology, I just listened to different channels and remember finding Claire very nice and engaging and always liked her. Hopefully as time goes on some of the issues will be worked out and everyone be able to work together again. Both “sides” have excellent people who smart and talented. I am aware that there are some real differences and strong reasons for what happened but hoping for healing and unity again as well as patience and forgiveness on both sides.
Love the decision to be like Switzerland. Everyone and Never ins, we're learning how bad disconnection is, why participate in taking sides, bullying, and disconnection ? Makes no sense.
A thought (or two): Chinese School (rote training) is actually VERY effective in the real world, when training youngsters how to memorize lists, such as the multiplication tables, and prepositions! We did that in our homeschool (minus the stupid yelling), which helped my kids tremendously. They still remember them, too! Helpful knowledge. 👍😊 It's dangerous when that same rote training becomes a tool for brain _washing_ in socio-political crap, instead of brain *training* in actual facts. Word Clearing, taken to Sciento's level of insanity, is definitely gas lighting. However...looking up words to find their meaning is an everyday, real world activity. I do find that most ex-Scientologists have an amazing vocabulary (very high level), but with a few glaring "holes". If not for that, they might be the most well-expressed people on the planet, barring English Ph.D.s!
You are BOTH going to do amazingly well in your studies. Why? You're *motivated.* You're doing this for _yourselves_ rather than for a vicious cult that believes it owns you. Also...your Sciento study "tech" 🙄 *will* stand you in good stead. How? You were trained in pursuing goals and *how to figure it out,* (KSW), even if you didn't know what to do. So you got some good out of their training methods, mis-directed and misused though they were. I repeat: you will both do just fine - I promise! 😊👍💕
