Back again with another custom model showcase, this time taking an in depth look at how I built my HO Strasburg Railroad custom Thomas model. I hope you all enjoy.

This truly is incredible (Yes I just got off the 2020 send-off video). I saw your video about the Strasberg Thomas and I loved it. I never knew there was actually a real steam-operated Thomas, I just thought all the real-life Thomas's were dummy units. And it's because of that video, and of my little brother's custom versions of the motorized toys, it got me to love Thomas again. So Thank you thomasdotd, for rekindling my love for Thomas, and for being fantastic.

A comment about the eyes melting (because the video on the Strasburg Thomas has comments disabled): search up the EDT 15 boiler test. That’s where the eyes were said to be melting.

When I was a kid, i was always annoyed about how our of proportion thomas was at Strausburg. The cow catcher. Everything. But now. Knowing the history. I am happy that it's the one that I grew up with. Not the dummies every other railroad has.

Everytime I watch any of your videos I just get a sense of joy and peace. Maybe it's the way you talk about your models in a short time span, or the enthusiasm I hear in your voice when talk; whatever the reason I have alwyas watching a video you make. I'm not sure what the status of your channel is now, but at least I can take comfort that whenever I pop in to watch one of your videos I will always be happy.

I’m pretty sure that you used the chassis of an older version of the HO Scale Bachmann 0-6-0 Porter. I can tell by the side rods, pistons, and when you showed the chassis without the Thomas shell. Those models did have a bulky motor, and it would make sense that you would replace it. Very nice model that is accurate to the Strasburg Thomas, but I would recommend that you ask that friend of yours to 3D print a new face that is more accurate, and you can possibly scavenge a Eye mechanism from a broken Bachmann Thomas and Friends engine to use on this model. Either way, awesome job!

Didn't he show the older bachmann version 0-6-0 when he showed the porter custom? This to me looks like an AHM model, the wheels look to be the right size.

@@halfofacouch2397 I just looked one up on eBay and you appear to be wrong. Take a look on eBay and type in AHM 0-6-0 and look for a model with side tanks, not saddle tanks.

@@ndees4973 those are technically the same models. Both the bachmann and AHM models were made by Kader. However, they were distributed by AHM and Bachmann during the 1970s. So yes, that makes us both right. However, I still think thomasdotd used a bachmann chassis because he said he bought the chassis for a cheap price, and the AHM models are expensive on EBay because they are considered vintage, compared to the cheaper bachmann one.

The way how the wheels spin is the same how Percy’s wheels spin

You think that is the real Thomas but the real one is at the watercress line and they gave that Thomas to the strasburg railway and the strasburg railroad put cylinders on it and it was very fine and the watercress line made a new one for DOWT
