    Carol did that role wonderfully. In real life, she was smart as a whip.

    Art Fern was the best salesman of all time and the matinée lady was the only woman to make a living out of being dumb and stupid at the same time ... and remember look for the fork on the road.

      Kamala Harris is making a good living out of being dumb and stupid at the same time.

      Were there many local TV stations as actually HAD afternoon film anthologies as were done in this particular vein, right down to the campy fast-talking hosts and obligatory sexpots doing the sales spiels?

      I am 70 born in Montréal, Canada. I remember only an american station with horror movies and Elvira filling in the gaps.@@larryellisreed280

    Hilarious!!! The Tea Time Movies are my all time favorite skit from Johnny Carson. I love the names of the movies. “Nanny & The Professor get arrested on a goat farm”. Priceless 😂

    • @wmbrown6
      @wmbrown6 3 года назад +8

      That one, plus "King Arthur Hurts Himself On A Chastity Belt," was cut out of the Family Channel's "Carson's Comedy Classics" repeats years ago.

      @@wmbrown6 that’s sad. There was one movie title called “The Hardy Boys wear each other’s underwear” that had me cracking up 😂

      @@ChadQuick270W - "Carson's Comedy Classics" also didn't have the last two "Tea Time Movies" Ms. Wayne ever did - May 22, 1981 and Jan. 13, 1984. I presume it was on an April 1977 show where one of the "films" shown was "The Three Stooges Have A Triple Hernia" (and another, "Charlie Chan Spits Up On A Coolie")?

    Can you imagine the talent that it takes to pull off one of these skits? Johnny didn't have weeks to rehearse, either. Thanks to all of you who post these videos. Great laughs and they bring back many memories.

    08:14 The Matinee Lady should put that alarm where it is really needed...but knowing her it would always be in the off position! 😂Perhaps an open for business sign would be more appropriate.

    Tea Time Movie was Carson's funniest bit. Of course, in today's cultural/political climate, where so many are offended by everything, no matter how petty, it would never fly.

      Today Johnny would have been forced to make tearful apologies on the following night's broadcast for all the pain he caused while Rev. Al Sharpton would be hosting roundtable discussions under the banner "Can America Forgive?"
