    Loved this as a kid. In a way, I think this was the
    best thing on TV. It was
    light-hearted and so much
    fun.
    Those clothes, wow. They
    were outrageous. I remember when bell-bottom pants showed up in the later 60's. A real statement - in the beginning. Thing was though, after a while you couldn't find a pair of pants anywhere that weren't bell bottomed !
    I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think that the craziness of the 60's will ever come around again.
    Shame. A rare time when complete inocense was so stark-driven guilty.

      @@ceasarandrepont1243 The short story, you’ll need to look up the details if you’re interested. I am not going to do all of your homework for you.
      After the cancellation of the _Matinee Lady_ on The Tonight show her career took a nosedive and she fell on hard times.
      She hired herself out as a high end _escort_ for dinners, international vacations….
      She got hooked up with a car salesman that paid her to be his _companion_ on vacation to someplace in Mexico. While there they had an argument, and she disappeared. The next day he packs up his stuff and hers and checks out of the hotel without her and leaves her stuff at the front desk and flies back to the U.S. without her.
      Her body is found floating near a beach and the authorities are called.
      He is suspected but is cleared.
      Interesting note about the guy.
      Earlier he was married to Art Linkletter’s daughter, and she allegedly jumped off a balcony to her death.
      He was also cleared of that.
      Both deaths were very suspicious, but they were not able pin either on him.

    So sad. Three things Hollywood doesn't do anymore. #1, make Western TV series (and only the occasional movie remake of a classic......True Grit comes to mind ), the last of western series that were any good was Alias Smith and Jones and Gunsmoke, off the air since 1973 and 75 respectively. #2, Variety Shows. I don't count AGT or American Idol with a panel of judges and singing or other acts by armatures. I mean a show hosted by one person like The Dean Martin Show, Andy Williams or The Glen Campbell Good Time Hour or two people like The Sonny and Cher Show where the host would sing, have guests/groups/duos that would sing, plus comedy skits and a special Christmas show during the holiday season. #3, Vignette shows like this. LAS and another vignette show that was on at the same time, Night Gallery, hosted by Rod Serling, were the last of the vignette shows. All 3 styles of shows are gone because America has changed so much, and judging from the crap that's on TV these days, proof that the change isn't always for the better. Just MHO...…..

    • @eduardo_corrochio
      @eduardo_corrochio 4 года назад +4

      While there are more ways than ever to have TV come into our homes and lives, we really have to pan for gold a lot to find the good stuff. And I agree, it's too bad we don't have those types of shows any longer. The Carol Burnett Show and its ilk (The Cher Show, etc) was so good back in the 70's. But for every gem we had huge duds-- such as The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, which stunk to high heaven. I'd rather watch The Donny and Marie Show, and that's not much better.
      You mentioned anthology/vignette series, and Night Gallery was a favorite of mine; I still like watching it on DVD. Of course it's not of the caliber of Mr. Serling's earlier anthology program, but it's still a hoot. Some Night Gallery episodes were so memorable: The Caterpillar, The Doll, Green Fingers, Cool Air.
      Plus, in the 70's we also had a couple of spooky hour-long shows like Ghost Story (aka Circle of Fear) which was often hit or miss but always a class act with cool guest stars like Bill Bixby or Karen Black.
      It's nice that some of these classic shows are available on RUclips. I often will watch a vintage sitcom or variety show, or a British sitcom like Are You Being Served.

    • @eduardo_corrochio
      @eduardo_corrochio 4 года назад

      @Lance Lanny It seems that each generation has its golden era-- that we'd love to visit again as it was. And that feeling/notion is very _Twilight Zone_ (like the episode Walking Distance, where the businessman suddenly finds himself in summer in his home town when he was a tween).

    1969-1974 like the Brady Bunch. I miss those telephones. Anyway, if I had become a commerce executive functioning in an office handling accounts & orders, I'd probably manufacture unintended errors & produce delays as this business executive did if I also had a sexy secretary to also deal with as an added distraction. So, I comprehend his problems. I couldn't perform duties under those circumstances any better either. I remember Paul Lynne's appearance on Hollywood Squares as being the middle 1. I also think Carol Wayne appeared a few times on Hollywood Squares when Peter Marshall used to host it. I wonder if Carol Wayne was related to legendary actor John Wayne (The Duke).

      The older actor was gay in real life. That's what makes it hilarious imho. Great actors in a funny episode!

    I don't mean to be rude but after seeing Carol here and a Johnny Carson interview I found her to be utterly creepy!

      What did you find creepy about her? As a straight man, I always found her incredibly sexy and adorable.
