Amazing main event and one of the rare times the nWo lost clean in the center of the ring. Although I’m not a massive NFL fan, Kevin Greene really held his own in that six man tag. And Benoit vs Meng was such a hidden gem when talking about undercard matches from that era.
The fact that you don’t have over 1 million followers yet blows my mind. We need to be better at getting your name out there. It’s the least we can do for this fantastic series.
I was one of the 220,000 who bought the PPV as a kid, eBay helped 1997 and 1998 Nitros and PPVs after WWE started going after a lot of videos. Just watched Slamboree last week
I always saw this as a perfectly acceptable "B" PPV main event. The home guys got a big win (Mostly Flair and Greene), just like Bret and crew in Calgary a few months later. Works for me!
I want to thank the creator of this show and the Monday night wars I think you saved myself and so many of us during the shutdown and bringing back some of the greatest memories of my childhood and adult hood
The Meng v Benoit match was the manliest thing I’ve seen in a long time and makes me wonder what would a Meng v Regal match would’ve been like without being called off due to outside interference. Also, seeing the nWo being defeated cleanly was a rare treat. I am so glad you’re doing the PPVs with the RTW series and able to relieve my childhood.
Slamboree was pure fun, something which is missing from a whole lot of modern wrestling. It also emphasised how much better the WCW roster was than the WWF one was, at this moment in time.
It’s amazing that the WCW roster was better. However they were, for the most part, poorly booked. With WWF having the better show, for the most part, with a much thinner roster. At a time when WCW were winning in “the war”
Sooooooo much deeper in the midcard and upper midcard. And yet they insisted on booking garbage like the endless horsemen infighting between the same two guys storyline that never went anywhere, and things like 15 minute match between Mongo and Reggie White while so many of their guys weren't even on the card.
The "grudge" you're holding against Glacier is hilarious... thanks for the laughs. Your reviews are top-notch... always informative and humorous. Have a great new year!
So, only complaint (very minor) is that I miss your jokes about Sheriff Mark Curtis and his six-shooter "ring the bell" action. Other than that, your usual great job.
"Glacier wins via DQ but I don't care." Around this time I had this attitude for all WCW/WWF matches. It doesn't matter who wins or lose, but who kicks the most @$$ by the end of the match. Great video and great series. This is one of my favorite channels.
Your commentary for this classic WCW PPV main event from my childhood is absolutely golden, my friend! Extremely enjoyable video. I hope you had a great Christmas!
Stumbled upon this series a few months ago, what a find. This has been so much fun reliving this. Just want to say thank you for all the work this takes.
It's a sin whenever people list the greatest ring technicians: Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid, Lance Storm, etc, etc, and they forget Reggie White and Mongo!!!!!!!!
being 40 nowm Im suprised how much I accepted Roddy Piper as a main eventer back then. I feel like he was kinda past his prime but, I was sold as him being a main eventer even as a teenager.
How this channel doesn’t have more subs is beyond me. I just discovered it last week and it’s so up my alley it’s unbelievable. I love the WCW stuff especially
It's an honor to have my ticket stub featured in the beginning of the video! I really enjoyed this event, I had great seats just off the floor opposite the entrance. The crowd in "Shawlatte" is always hot when Flair is on the card. I need to rewatch the whole thing, because I forgot a lot of it as I watched this. As you said, Ultimo Dragon vs Regal was excellent but the main event was so much fun with all parties doing their thing and a fantastic ending. I really enjoyed your assessments of all the matches.
I had an idea for an episode of your channel. I was thinking something along the lines the Heroes of BIOS where you have dream matches of some of your favorite characters from reliving the war,for example Steve Blackman versus glacier and you doing mock pre-match promos. maybe cutting in clips of some of their greatest maneuver executions to put together the match.I mean the man who is cold as ice versus glacier rights itself! Love the channel been watching you for years now, thank you.
Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Glad you were able to get the video out, but I think we'd have been fine if you'd have taken some time off. Your dedication is phenomenal and I hope the new year brings great things for you and this channel.
I am a Canadian, and I actually remember a mainstream news outlet talk about the Mongo/Reggie White match. So I guess Bischoff got what he wanted out of it. Their quote was : "Unfortunately this one ends in controversy due to the old briefcase trick" "Oh no! Not the briefcase trick!!" lol
@@thebandit0256 haha yep, but I basically see it as "The minor leagues". The best CFL players could barely make an NFL practice squad! Few exceptions of course!
This was one of the best videos you have done, been watching for several months now and this had the best punchlines. Especially the glacier nicknames were hilarious. Hope you have been enjoying this festive period. Great video
Thank you sir. I'd only ever seen this once. I was 12 years old with my buddy from up the street and my father. My father bought the PPV for us that weekend and watched with us. He was a Carolina Flair fan.
Hey love your channel. Again always post the best well informed and full details to each show and the bios on individual wrestlers. Fact you make it interesting and not boring your great at what your doing and tell everyone to check your channel out. Thanks for the stroll thru old memories 😂 always entertaining
I don't give Kevin Nash credit for anything and this match and the build up for it are why. A year from now he becomes what he preaches against. A year from now and till the death of WCW he put him self over every young guy coming up. He help bring down a company because of the greed at the top leaving "pot holes" as he calls it I call it destroying wrestling I the states for 20 years. Leaving 1 promotion that could be considered the "show" and 1 promotion where he ended up doing an nWo rehash in the name of the Main Event Mafia literally being exactly what he preached against. He's one of the biggest Hypocrites in wrestling I think Hulk Hogan is the only person who can beat him in that ranking.
The Main Event was a perfect storm for great story telling. Even having Green in there helped, he was the hometown hero in the story combined with Flair that crowd was easily gonna be on fire as long as none of them phoned it in. And McMichael and White is just a necessary evil. Moves like that are the exact reason wrestling was seeing a boom all those NFL fans getting exposed to the awesomeness of wrestling was priceless
Very disappointed there was no Meng Manly Meter for his match vs. Benoit. I get it. But this was an oversight. Regardless, great content this year. Can't wait for 2022. Keep it up
I went to this event. It was cool to see Flair enter the Arena from above the garage area (I guess that's what you call it). Lots of people were happy to see him, and he did acknowledge the fans from above there.
Ernest Miller had been wrestling on WCW Worldwide for a few weeks prior to Slamboree. Worldwide was WCW's only syndicated show at the time and everything else was on TBS, hence why the announcers claimed they had no clue who he was, as people who didn't get Worldwide at the time OTA (like myself) also didn't know who he was. Watching those Worldwides years later took me by surprise, but then it made sense as it was syndicated and not everyone could watch them. WCW For Life!!!
This is a perfect example why WCW was winning the ratings war vs. WWF. A very strong opener to get the fans out of their seat and a big match up on the Meng Manly Meter with a surprise finish. While the main event looked like it was going to be the same old NWO beat down, instead the fans got what they hoping for and they exploded in cheers. Now more fans will tune into the next Nitro to check out the aftermath. WCW knew what they were doing, it only took the WWF a little more time to be forced to change their stale ways of putting on shows. Great job as always Wrestling Bios.
Really wish WCW would have paid attention to that main event reaction there. You need give and take when it comes to heels and faces, and that buildup on both sides should be commended.
That Mortis stair drop looked great because they practiced it like 10 times right before doors opened. I was sitting in the Crockett box after coming from backstage. Doors hadn’t opened yet. They practiced this over and over and besides myself, Ernest was the only one sitting in the arena. They practiced his entrance jumping from the crowd, too. An announcer announced “5 minutes before doors open!” They all shook hands and went to the back. Crowd came in clueless.
When you mentioned Ernest Miller it made me think about one time after he turned heel he was in a match and complained to the referee about hair pulling. Obviously this was meant to get him some heat but got a awkward laugh from the crowd
Gzzzzz Sixx kicked Flairs head off😵😵😵😵😵as always great video, keep up the great work and amazing commentary, man it's been a while I heard a crowd that loud👍🏽
I was there, still one of my favorite ppvs. Regal v Dragon was awesome. Sadly Rey wasn't as big a star then and most of the people didn't know who Yugi was. I remember a lot of the crowd used that match to go to the bathroom or get snacks so it was really quiet during that one. I've talked to Glacier personally about this match he was injured during this match and wasn't able to move very well. No one cared about the Mongo match. Also remember a fight breaking out in the crowd between fans, it happened up and to the left of the hard camera. After the show went off the nWo cut a promo and the crowd threw so much trash in the ring at them. That was a great time to be a fan.
A pandemic couldn’t stop him, a move couldn’t stop, even Christmas couldn’t stop him. Wrestling bios is da man

Amazing main event and one of the rare times the nWo lost clean in the center of the ring. Although I’m not a massive NFL fan, Kevin Greene really held his own in that six man tag. And Benoit vs Meng was such a hidden gem when talking about undercard matches from that era.
Dude can we appreciate the grind of Wrestling Bios? Even during a house move he’s still putting out bangers after bangers
Hell ya! Makes our crappy days much better.
Amen
Absolutely. Everything going on and he still gets videos out on schedule. I'm impressed with his dedication.
"He looks at Flair like he just pissed in his cereal."
Gold!
RIP Kevin Greene, the match between Regal vs Ultimo was really good. Decent ppv overall.
RIP to Reggie White as well.
Watched this PPV just a few weeks ago and it was my match of the night. Thought the main event was really fun as well.
I got to meet Kevin Greene when I was a kid and he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was such an awesome person!!
And now Mongo is sick as well
Yep it was good , I was there
The fact that you don’t have over 1 million followers yet blows my mind. We need to be better at getting your name out there. It’s the least we can do for this fantastic series.
I noticed that last week and was mind blown. 🤯🤯
I mention the channel whenever I watch Attitude Era videos from other channels. Everyone deserves the opportunity to watch WrestlingBios.
The meng v benoit ending was great! I love when they do finishes that involve thoughtful counters to finishing moves
This line had me cracking up: “Ernest Miller is a friend of Glacier and therefore, no friend of mine” LOL!!
I was one of the 220,000 who bought the PPV as a kid, eBay helped 1997 and 1998 Nitros and PPVs after WWE started going after a lot of videos. Just watched Slamboree last week
I've been enjoying this series ever since I caught my 1st episode months ago...and I gotta say, these ppv reviews have been really fun to watch too ❤
Best channel for anyone who was a hardcore wrestling fan in the 90s… i never watched since then and feel like this channel is my exact demographic

Also, seeing the nWo being defeated cleanly was a rare treat. I am so glad you’re doing the PPVs with the RTW series and able to relieve my childhood.
I kinda wonder what Benoit would have rated on the manly meter though
At least 5/6
Regal was so damn smug, but he was such a great wrestler. You got to respect him for that.
Fit finlay vs glacier would have been fun to watch! Lol
Regal was straight fire highly underrated
Slamboree was pure fun, something which is missing from a whole lot of modern wrestling. It also emphasised how much better the WCW roster was than the WWF one was, at this moment in time.

@@martynodonnell8467 it’s actually kind of frustrating to see WCW win the ratings each week when WWF has been putting on better shows for a while.
I went to this show, it felt like the Crockett house shows in the 80s. Good times, and good memories.
Glad they gave Luna some time to wrestle in front of a great crowd. RIP Luna Vachon
