The tower conversion in central London is actually one of my favourite episodes to watch, I recommend watching from start to finish! The access to the site alone was gripping!
My father built the folly's (@4:05) staircase! He was filmed for around 3 hours and was supposed to appear on the episode on Dinton folly but they cut him out of the final edit completely for no apparent reason. He's still known for his spiral staircases. Edit: apparently he didn't install it, just supervised the installation.
OK, I don't own a TV, but when I go and visit my old mum I binge watch Grand designs , I've been known to rewatch episodes from time to time. It's not just the architecture but the stories/dreams that pull you along. just one question though, how much must you earn to accomplish homes like that ?. Kirsty + Phil come close 2nd.
i remember hating that guy with the asian wife - like he was so obnoxious for the whole thing & feeling so sorry for her that she was dragged into that ugly ass building. loved the folly tho x
And then they walked away from the project because of money problems. The viewer who loaned them the money to finish, ended up buying the abandoned home in 2016 and after refurbishment now lives there with her family. So many of these grand design forever homes end up for sale three to four years later.
Can someone please tell me the name of the house at 1:18 or where to find out more about it? I don't usually enjoy Curved walls arches or Circular design but my golly that house is just beautiful!🤓😯
Can the first question the presenter ask everyone from now on is “where did they get the money from” because I don’t get where all these rich people are coming from? Just got million Pound laying around just to play around with??
Most of the episodes do start with "what's your budget and where's that money coming from?" Often it's around £500k and a mixture of mortgages and savings. Often the biggest builds come from people that run their own businesses, often within the sector, and some are from inheritance etc. Once you have assets it gets easier to accumulate wealth as this show suggests.
So how do you clean the waterfall that is behind the swimming pool? You need to swim across to the waterfall carrying all the cleaning supplies and then climb up into the waterfall with all your cleaning supplies. Or just let it get all moldy.
Funny, I thought that as well...but maybe the water is so chlorinated that it wouldn't get mouldy, and a couple of times a year he'll have to drain that pool to clean it anyways. Just guessing...
This is the Dome house built in Bowness -on-Windermere in the Lake District and featured in the 2010 Series? They run into money problems and a viewer gave them a loan to finish the project. By 2016 the house had been abandoned and the viewer who loaned them the money has now bought the property and has refurbished it and now lives in it with their family. Hope this helps.
@@peepiepo The “investors” were the people that purchased the houses . The houses were not as sold . It’s not a difficult scenario is it ? McLeod just hopped along with with usual gormless smile and paper thin ideological whims . But yooooouuuuu Seam to loooooove him .

Imagine what it’s worth got to be at least 50 mil in that location and view. Insanity.
Incredible place, isn't it? Just wonderful.
@@joeking7778 Jesus that’s all? That’s a steal in London, with that view and location. I’ve seen box rooms going for a million.
What episode was it?
Can you provide the RUclips link for that episode?
After all these years the old tower home is still my favourite. I hope the couple still has it and they're happy in it.
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH OMG
Me too
Same! This show makes me dream again :)
I was so happy to see he had someone in his life after struggling to build the cemetery house for so long.
c'mon channel 4 you have the budget to at least put a transition title between the scenes with a name
If I had one show to choose and there are great shows. I'll choose Grand designs. From the first note of the intro music it gets me. Just love it

I am so envious of that view of Lake Windermere.

woah...jaw dropping...to how creative the space utilization is
This is a 3am kind of video

I think that's probably the ugliest house ever featured on GD

Love these grand designs comps
They are all wonderful. I wish I had the vision of these folks.
that last one is horrific

That isn't what the program is about though? It's about the amazing buildings.

At least three of those have been sold and are now basically AirBnBs sadly
No one did it correctly so far, I mean the mix of tradition with modern. But I'm sure someone will do something overwhelming one day

You need to swim across to the waterfall carrying all the cleaning supplies and then climb up into the waterfall with all your cleaning supplies. Or just let it get all moldy.
Or get a cleaner
Would it get moldy tho? I thought because its constantly running itd be fine
Why does someone’s problem if at all it is bother you? O dear!

Creepy to think it's an underground pool next to a burial site
Anyone know what episode/season the first one is on?
First episode of the most recent series
5:45 Someone please tell me what building this is or how I can find more information about it? xx
