Watching y’all do the layout I had an idea because you kept saying storage! Because of the height of your bin, but floor space is a certain size. Why not build the floor like you are doing, but add another layer to it. So on top of your “floating” part, add another layer to the floor and use it for storage! Especially with wood plank floors you could do this! Out of season stuff, totes of things and so on. Just an idea to utilize the one thing you have plenty of! Vertical space

wouldn't even dream of starting that project without an Engineer or Architect designed-plans. The deck fails, the whole house fails. Loving the idea of spiral staircase but would have to move bed and furniture up with a hoist. Have no doubt you guys will figure it all out.

The first couple stair treads can be hinged, and you can keep things like mittens gloves and a dog leash in there… Then under the next several stairs can be cubbies/shelves that data until it gets tall enough to where you can have that storage closet at the back

I think you should make the loft at least half the size of the grain bin. Then you will have a big master bedroom with plenty options for storage. 😉 Can't wait to see the progress on this. I know whatever you decide on, it's going to look amazing. ❤

Only suggestion I could add is , make sure wherever your washer n dryer are placed ?? Have them in an area that can be shut off from bedroom living space .
I once had a home where washer n dryer were in a hall just past the kitchen … in hall toward the bedroom
    Oh MY GOSH ….
SO loud you could not watch tv

Can't imagine why you don't go ahead and cut the opening for the door. Even if un sure of the final size. Cut it the minimum size, 36". Sure would be easier to get in and out and it would be cooler.

A point on the loft, you should put it where you originally wanted it with the support, your staircase doesn't need to land on the line of the loft, the stairs can run deeper into the loft line if you want, like the third step from the top for example could land on the loft line and you cut in the top 3 steps into the loft space. Just an idea, that's how I'd do it but I did train as a carpenter for a trade, I get it if what's obvious to me seems complicated..

Just and idea but maybe open up that bathroom a little more towards the kitchen u might want a bigger one further down the road just my opinion idk if you guys care about having a big bathroom or not. Or bring the door on angle from the end of the bathroom wall to the staircase that way the door is further back

Don’t forget laundry room. Also, could you not just put a big window where the opening is right now that y’all use to access the bin? And I would definitely put a bathroom upstairs. Even if it’s just a half bath. If you do the loft like the one you showed us that had storage/closet on one side, and laundry/bathroom on the other side, that would work better because dirty clothes are upstairs.

You are going to have the stairs going into the BR and not a hallway? You might need to square up the BR some and take some of the room from the bedroom. I am seeing wasted space in the triangle. Once you get the loft built it will be easier to design the rooms upstairs. Also what did you decide to do with the outside walls?
