Thought I’d pre-watch this video before replacing the front nearside hub on my Astra van, I love the way you seem to gently tap your hub and it comes out! I’ve been arguing with mine for well over an hour now and the bugger still isn’t shifting 😤
I did mine as per the Haynes manual, what a way to do it. You don't need to take half the bits off according to your video. I've changed one of two bearings, the first one as per the manual, the second one i'm going to do it your way. Great video, wish i'd seen it first before doing the first bearing carrier. Thanks very very much.
Great vidio mate...Just worked on my 05 astra. Discs pads suspension brackets roll bar bushes....all good right at the end....abs light comes on...think I've disrupted the old sensor.... start over😤😤
Done this job today, a bit different though, I dropped the bottom ball joint and that allowed me the room to get the drive shaft out to access the bolts of the hub. Your video really helped buddy. Many thanks.
Use a code reader like amzn.to/47pK8h0 to see which side it glitching, they can sometimes use more than one sensor for the speedo, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi What kind of abs sensor and wheel bearing had you installed? Brand and model? And are you happy with it after installation - meaning any issues or not at all? thanks
My 2008 Saturn Astra is producing a Code C1207 which by research is, "DTC C1207 00: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit High Input Malfunction". The Check Engine, ABS & Traction Control lights are on and when this sccurs the rear brakes seem to clamp down until the ignition is turned off and started again sometimes a couple times and then the car can move. I have connected my simple Bosch Scanner to the connector & when this occurs, I get the C1207 Code, however when the car is started and the lights are all off, the code is not present. An OHM Meter indicates both front left and right sensors measure 5.22 Mega Ohms. Does my situation seem like it could be resolved with a HUB replacement or should I look further. Thank you for your kindness and Awesome Video!
Really nice video! Quick question: I touched the break pedal on my Astra H and the ABS fires for about one second then stopped and now the ABS light is continually on. I've never tried a code reader, do you get a code for which sensor is at fault, and do you get a different code if it's the wiring to the sensor that is broken? Cheers
+Steffen Langelo You will get a code for each individual sensor if its faulty, unfortunately it will not say if it’s the wiring of sensor, but usually when you start the car and the abs comes on, if it goes out as normal, but comes on when you start moving the wiring will be ok, and the sensors at fault.
11.35, I'm the guy that has to get that off again, I saw it on mine when I did a preinspection yesterday and I'm fitting a new one tomorrow, I saw that cap and could just tell its going to be a pain
Hi, If the issue is as per what's explained in your, btw excellent, tutorial.... will the ABS light simply vanish without any intervention? Eg not having to plug something into the car/ECU and clearing the fault? Or would that still need to be done?
Hi my astra millage and trip counter has stopped moving and I've got no abs light on the dash, on start up everything else works on the dash I. E rev counter speedo ect, I've checked the abs fuses both OK any ideas, cheers Al.

Need to do this job on my Saab 9 3 (basically the same car mechanically). ABS light and traction control light are on the dashboard. Now this might just be common to the Saab, but my car makes a serious grinding noise and you can really feel it through the pedal the first few times you use the brakes! Almost like the brake pads are worn down to the metal but after the dashboard has let of a series of pings to notify you, it all returns to normal ! ( discs and pads are new) I've already swapped out the ABS pump but that didn't improve anything. Did you have a similar experience?

Hi aaanton11 we spoke a while ago about the blue clip that the plug is fixed to as you said the blue clip was only there for transit, that clip then was attached to a blue plastic ring that went all the way around on the inside of the hub does that ring have to stay in the hub or does it some how have to be removed sorry to sound stupid but if the plastic ring has to come out of the hub can you tell me how to remove it many thanks for your help. The reason i ask is i got round to doing this job but the abs light is still on but the speedo works fine as with the astra h abs and speedo are in the hub in the left side and the trouble i had was speedo work when it felt like it and abs light is on speedo works fine but abs still on sorry for the long question.
There is a protective cover for transit purposes, but if you removed it there must be another issue, was the drive shaft hub corroded at all this can damage the wires?
Hello, can I ask if the sensor only can be changed? I have intermittent signal from the ABS speed sensor which throws a P0500 error code and I'm not sure if it's a new hub job or just a sensor.
@@aaanton11 have you tried to separate them? The dealership says that you have to buy them as a unit, but all over the internet I can find the abs sensor with the ring (front).
Hi I’ve recently replaced the bearing as the bearing was starting to fail. Since replacing the ABS light is constantly on and was not on before changing the unit. I’ve checked the wiring connection and that seems to be ok. Any ideas?. Thanks
The most Common reason is the drive shaft cv joint end is corroded and when the wheel rotated for the first time after the repair, it will have damaged the new sensor, like I show in the video the clearance is tiny, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

I definitely would be focusing on the abs wheel sensors, or the wiring to the sensors, check the wiring behind the plastic inner front wheel arches, if the connections are corroded or the wire chaffed this would cause the issues, also watch my video on the corsa d rear abs sensor, it has a lot of issues the same as the astra.
