- Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says "Don't you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe."
Don't give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
only love can fill.
Been walking all morning went walking all night
I can't see much difference between the dark and light
And I feel the wind And I taste the rain
Never in my mind to cause so much pain.
Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says "Don't you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe."
Don't give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
only love can fill.
From day to day just letting it ride.
You get so far away from how it feels inside.
You can't let go cause you're afraid to fall,
But the day may come when you can't feel at all.
The words come out like an angry stream.
You hear yourself say things you could never mean.
When you cool down you find your mind.
You got a lot of words you've got to stand behind.
Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says "Don't you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe."
Don't give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
only love can fill, only love can fill, only love can fill.
I knew the song. My dad had unexpectedly passed away at 58. I'm 31 with 4 kids, disfunctional family, delivering papers at 3am. My friend gave me a live show and it had the extra verse on comes a time. That helped me to cope big time in my cassette deck at 3am. ♡
When I posted it 12+ years ago there were dark clouds in my life. It gets better. I'm thankful it helped you.
The dream is still there😢
Tears always. Powerful Garcia
💕Beautiful 💕
One of the best.
GARCIA 😊😊😊
This song certainly draws out of. me a steady stream of tears in a way that is seemingly automatic. That music, the pure and authentic expression of the blues I feel in those guitar riffs and the vocals which sing these words that are so undeniably accurate in addressing the condition of my very soul. The intensity is joyous and painful at the same time
This song always brings tears to my eye, every listen. The lyrics inspire me so much during the hardest and most painful times of my life. That is why I came on here to listen to this tonight. I'm gonna make it somehow and never give up, Thanks and god bless.
your comment helped me so much....thank you Be well.
+Marsha Kay no thank you. When I wrote that comment I was in the hospital. All better today. You can make it somehow!!
The slow & minimalist 🎸🥁 pace makes, for this old Okie anyway, the '71 version the most poinient. The longing for redemption and self reflection of "Comes a Time" just flat bring it. ❤️🩹 When the blind man takes your hand......
Lord have mercy. Forgive~ Judge not~ Faith Hope Love.

Not sure, I do know those lyrics have meant more to me over the years. I posted this 11 years ago, a different life ago, and they are more true now than ever.
