Neighbors speak out after shooting at block party

- People living in the area where nearly two dozen people were shot during a block party, killing 2 people are speaking out in the wake fo the violence and Detroit police announcing new efforts to crack down on these incidents.
Detroit’s problems can’t be resolved by the Mayor, Police Chief or anyone else. People of Color have to take a long look in the mirror and embrace change is necessary and nothing will
Change in our communities until we get serious about what success looks like.
Currently, we are a broken mess. Our kids are raising themselves in poverty and the adults keep saying some boggy man is the cause of our problems.
It is time to be honest concerning what is plaguing our race. It is not politicians, slavery, systemic racism, or Jim Crow. It is time to start dealing with the TRUTH!!!

I agree but these kids came from several suburbs across 8 mile with this. I just don’t understand why they came to a block party with the heavy artillery. Apparently they were looking for someone idk what be on these people minds

Something about the person that had them in the house wasn't in charge of baby-sitting the girls? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? You didn't keep your fireworks safely away from the hands of the girls, you had them in a dwelling of young children, their house?it was negligence. what about charges than for their parents? A concerned citizen called and they couldn't come. The Chief should be held accountable as long as the Mayor. The Mayor needs a new Chief if they can't go to a call. But they can bother you for filming or walking down the street.
Police show up; it’s harassment, racial profiling or over policing. You can’t win with this mindset. 🤷🏽♂️
If police show up to these parties, the police and mayor would be called " ist " for breaking up the party.

The Chief said that he's going to have 80 officers to shutdown parties but his staff can't respond to the calls. And his staff is so disrespectful to where they turn off their body cams when interacting with citizens. They harass people but can't respond to calls. They need to check body cams every hour and it should be an automatic suspension for turning their cameras off and muting it. The Chief needs to go!
They go from hating cops and protesting to get them defunded to crying about the cops not showing up to save them from themselves. This is karma. And comedy.

It’s so sad it does take the Detroit police forever to do anything. It takes them forever to to show up on the scene if it’s a car accident or whatever it is, they need to have a job fair or something
Police Chief White must go. He has done little or nothing to get this violence under control. He's always calm and easy going with the press and tries to quell fear by his demeanor but to no avail. Detroit needs a fair but hard nosed cop to run the department.
