I used the paper test tip today on a customer I do handyman work for, and it saved me a lot of time. Clothes were taking long time to dry. Ended up getting in attic and the 40 foot run was totally plugged up at the end exiting through the roof. Made me look like I knew what I was doing and let me tell ya that ain't easy. Thanks a bunch Keith.
I don't have the air pull inside the door like you show but I removed the exhaust tube and the dryer fired right up, after not being able to get the heat going. it wasn't`t clogged with material but bent at the 90` enough maybe to restrict the airflow exiting.
I just called in to get our dryer fix in building. However the electrician only noted to not overload the dryer. However the issue is the same. There is heat but not drying the clothes. Also the room tends to get very hot and moist.
I really liked the pointer that showed the lack of air flow. Allowed me to validate that clogged vent was the source and that air flowed properly after cleaning. Without being shown how to check that it works I would have a lot of concern that I hadn't fixed the problem. A test run of clothes would do it, but that takes time... This took 10 seconds to check Thanks
I did the paper test and it stuck the to inside, no clog in pipe. My clothes are drying at a slower pace even on high heat. Just started recently. I have a (round) front loader if that makes a difference. The dryer is about 15 years old so long past its glory days. Do you think I should have it repaired or invest the money of a repairman toward a new unit?
Ok. So say every thing is good, no major blockages. How do you clean that particular dryer in the video, it's the same as mine. I try to vacuum it out regular, but you can see stuff is built up and if it's hard where you can see it, then you know it's getting hard and built up where you can't? What is the best way to clean down in there? I can't get my tube and brush (small, skinny cleaner) to go into whatever the lint goes into. How (besides cutting into the front of the dryer and making a door to access it) do you clean it? About lost my mind last night trying to get it sufficiently clean.
Hi Keith, some of the clothes are getting oil stains on them. Someone told me it's the dryer getting too hot and someone said old washers release oil and the dryer makes it worse. Can you tell me which machine it is? The washer or the dryer and how to fix it? I'm a property manager and we have very old Maytags and Whirlpools as well as some newer Speed Queens. Thank you, Holly
Disconnect the dryer from the electricity, disconnect hose from both the wall, AND the dryer. Move the dryer out of the way. Use a leaf blower to push the lint and stuff through your wall and out of your house vent. Worked like a charm, and solo much...shtuff came out.
@@yoshi6091 How does that work when you're in an apartment complex and you're hooked in to a very long exhaust vent? I know ours comes down from the ceiling and then out back somewhere. Could we still do it that way or does the apartment complex maintenance people need to check it?
@@tonyacrawford8656 It usually comes out the side of the building. If they are all interconnected, though...you'd might end up blowing it into your neighbors' apartments. You might ask if they can do it for you, or if it's okay that you do it.
@@yoshi6091 Found out yesterday that ours comes out on top of the building (we're on the 2nd floor). They were re-roofing the complex roof and they were messing with it and the rain cap. So we'll see...

No, he was demonstrating how you would troubleshoot. By repeating the steps he showed, you can narrow down where the problem is. It's either a problem with the dryer itself or with the venting that connects to the back of the dryer and removes the hot air from the dryer to the outdoors. Make sense? He's not showing all the steps for troubleshooting the problem but just getting a person headed in the right direction. Peace

I don’t even have an issue with my dryer, and I just wanted to say I still watched it because he’s pretty engaging and a great communicator!
Nice job on the paper vent test! I found I had a vent blockage keeping the dryer from venting.
I never thought I could fix a dryer for my wife.. after watching your video, I just did! THANKS

EXCELLENT! I’ve gotta do this as my dryer isn’t drying efficiently.

Did anyone tell you you're a genius?! God bless you bud!
Hadn’t used dryer in a while and thought it was broken. Turns out my dad stuffed the vent hole with plastic bags to keep mice out. Hahaha Thanks!
Thank you. Very simple step one for diagnosing before taking the dryer really apart. I learned something new today.
Never thought of that … thanks
Wow! Thank you!!! Diagnosed my dryer wirh your help!!!!!!!!

Thank you. The problem was inside my dryer. My dryer vent was clogged up with lent. I cleaned it out and viola. Thanks!
If you don’t mind sharing what was the problem inside the dryer?
Thank you so much
Great video sir!!! Texas salutes you!

Hi Julius, My dryer is doing this exact same thing. Did you find out what the problem was?
Tell keith he rocks! Great explanation and fun to listen to!
Great video! Good job!

thank you so much this fixed my mom's dryer and she is no longer grumpy
Thanks for the trade secret that will keep unscrupulous repair technicians from ripping people off for unnecessary expensive repairs.💯😊
Is there a follow up that shows what to do if it’s clogged on the inside?
I feel like a boss 😎 Thank you!
Ty
Thank you for your video.
extremely helpful in diagnosis problem in layman terms - thank you
Grateful for this video. Thanks
Thank you for this now a question how do I know if enough heat is coming out
This was very helpful thank you
Awesome. Thank you
Very informing thanks!
Worked like a charm!
Thank you for this video. My dryer's vent was clogged right at the end before the flap that leads outside.
Glad it helped!
Great video straight forward and to the point. Made it easy to see if the brand new dryer was working or we had a blocked vent. Thanks
Thank you :)
No problem 😊
Great tip!
THank you!!
Thanks
Thank you! This simple trick worked!
Great Video.. thank you
If your vent screen pulls out of the top do you put the paper there to test it?
Thank you!

You're my hero Danny McBride
With this I could quickly eliminate that problem. My paper stuck great. Now, on to the error codes.
What if my dryer lint is on top instead on inside of the dryer, how can I check then?

Sadly this isn't the issue but this did narrow it down
smart , thanks i think its my element as no heat comes out and i dont see element get red or feel any heat with front panel off
elemenet or thermal switch
So what is the next step of the venting system is working properly and it’s still not drying your clothes properly? Ty

@@tonyacrawford8656 Wow. There must REALLY be a build up. Unless they regularly vacuum them out, similar to A/C duct cleaning.
ohhhh take the rags out of the dryer...got it!
I think that’s gonna be the problem for my I’ll check that in the morning ..
Obligatory you fixed my dryer comment
My dryer doesn’t have a vent for suction
I did the paper test tip and it does work but my machine still doesn’t dry clothes . Why 😢 somebody help me
That's how you troubleshoot a dryer!!
O K A Y ! ! !
The dryer doesn’t dry in one cycle. What’s the issue?
Lint could have accumulated in the out vent. Outside of house. Right behind where the dryer is set up. Take trap off, clean and boom. You’re good

I thought that was nick swardson.
So take it loose and never connect the duct again?

What do you mean, "you people"?
Tips, not Hacks.
Good info repeated twice with no solution.....
You people 😱😱 how dare you assume I identify a people
His channel is for people only. No non people allowed 😉
Thanks
