Wasn’t a shoo-fly supposed to be built AROUND the town after pressure from the citizens that they never wanted to see anything train related within their sight ever again?
It’s going to be like a 20 mile detour as well as 2 branches to service customers in town. It will eliminate the two steep grades in town as well. It was supposed to be built in 2018-2020 and was on track, then the cmq sale delayed things, then CP got involved and wanted the government to pay for it instead of the 50/50 match cmq was ok with. So at this point it’s just in a holding pattern.
@@MillersRailfan the ones in downtown want the railroad gone, and the citizens who would live near the bypass don’t want it. To add insult to injury land for it will be taken from several of the victims families.
Nice horn on 8141

Looks like part 2 is on the way

Yes, and it’s still planned/being worked on. But because the government is involved progress is moving at a snails pace

CPKC can’t trust anyone with that track since they bought out CMQ so they would get Lac Megantic back
