    BEST EASIEST CRESCENT ROLLS RECIPE
    Ingredients
    Makes 32 rolls
    3 1/2 cups flour
25 g fresh yeast (2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast or 2 tsp of instant yeast)
    1/3 cup water, warm
    1 cup milk, warm
    1 1/2 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    8 tbsp butter, softened
8 tbsp vegetable, corn or canola oil
    Filling
4 or 5 tbsp butter, softened
    Topping
    1 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
    Directions
In a large bowl, mix flour with sugar and salt. Dissolve the fresh yeast in the warm water and add to the flour mixture. Add oil and milk, mix everything together. Add the butter(4 tbsp) and knead until the dough is smooth and soft. Cover with a clean dish towel and let it rise for about 1 hour in a warm area, until doubled in size.
Punch dough down and divide into 2 equal parts. Form them into balls. On a floured surface roll each part into a 16 to 17 inch round, using a rolling pin. With the back of a spoon, spread about 2 tbsp of very soft butter(will act as filling making crescent rolls flaky) onto the dough round. Using a pastry wheel cutter cut the round into 16 triangles (like slicing a pizza).
Start rolling each triangle into crescents, starting from the outside edge of the triangle. Once rolled, curve the edges and place on a greased baking tray with the tip tucked down and under the roll. Repeat rolling with the rest of the triangles. Let them rise for about 20 minutes. Melt additional 1 1/2 tbsp butter and brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.
Preheat the oven to 400F (200C). Bake for 14-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack few minutes before serving.

Just sitting down to write this comment after making two batches of these. A couple of points:
    - the flavor and aroma are HEAVENLY. I’m 100% making these again
    - if you’re struggling to cut these into round wheels, here’s what I did. I placed a large piece of tin foil on my counter and rolled out the crescent roll sheet on it. Then after filling and rolling up the wheels, I wrapped it in the foil and froze it for 2 hours until it was firm enough to cut. Keep in mind, it doesn’t get rock solid but it will be firm enough to cut through without squishing the dough. If you freeze them, add an extra 3-5 mins of baking time
    - definitely space them out on the sheet because they will expand when cooked.
    - at the end of 18 mins of baking, I flipped them and placed them on the top most broiling rack of the oven for 1 min to get ‘em crispy.

Certainly, but it is a good recommendation for people in the US. Pinwheels also work great with frozen bread dough (and of course the pizza dough you recommended). It looks very tasty!

The variations to this are endless, what a great recipe and well-presented as always!
I have 2 suggestions about cutting the uncooked pinwheels. First a serrated knife might work better, second, you can use a piece of sewing thread to cut softer dough,
place the clean thread under the roll then bring up and cross over the dough to cut, perfect cuts can be made.

Sis, thanks for the recipe. When you said we can refrigerate and warm them before the party starts, should we let it cool down first, then refrigerate and warm before serving or should we put the hot rolls in the frefrigirator? Would it change the crispiness of the rolls? Thanks!!

    • @Bhavnaskitchen

mahathi13 But make sure the dough layer do not get too soft. In fact some people like to bake refrigerated dough to get better texture.

    • @Bhavnaskitchen
      @Bhavnaskitchen  8 лет назад +2

+Dipti Upadhyay Once I bake pinwheels properly, I remove them from the baking tray and place onto cooling rack to prevent further cooking and to avoid getting bottom more brown. Alternatively, you can use parchment or butter paper to keep bottom good.
