Kaspersky antivirus has been banned in the USA, this could soon spread across Europe as well. The Kaspersky ban means you will not receive updates for any Kaspersky software in the USA after

Google is a bigger risk for your privacy than Kaspersky.
Privacy and security have nothing to do with why Kaspersky has banned. Russian sanctions because of the war in Ukraine is the only reason.
Other Western countries blindly follow what the US baba says. Everything is inclined more towards politics than public interest.
@@rdsii64 Sanction Israel instead.
@@rdsii64 Kaspersky uncovered a lot of hidden backdoors, many linked to NSA.
That's why it got shafted.
US politicians accuse others of lying & dirty dealings when they are the worst of all.
All to support a bs war & elect a dementia leader, which none of the US political class would ever send their own flesh & blood to fight in.
What a joke!
So is the US government.
I have more trust in Kaspersky AV than any American three letter agency!
Well it goes to show, that you know nothing about computing, D.E.F.E.N.C.E
Thats because you're a true fledged a$$ commie.
Mcafee and Norton are complete jokes, I will update via vpn.
McAfee and Kaspersky actually turned down FBI proposal to let there backdoor mallard go undected.
Kaspersky can stop (some) viruses made by the NSA. Which would make sense for a Russian AV company to do. They also are not subject to US law to hand over user information.
That explains everything.
Never had a Kaspersky subscription, but I might get one now.
btw you can still update Kaspersky using a VPN and use an exit node outside the US.
Kaspersky is proof you pay your pizzo to capo Putin so it protects you from Russian malware.
Number one reason that Kaspersky is banned - Politics.
well said
No, politics is THE ONLY REASON its banned.
And Huawei
Putin's minions don't like to lose a source of revenue. Kaspersky is one of the best tool the Kremlin developed to both collect money and information from free countries. One team makes the malware while another makes the antivirus. Pay the pizzo to the boss or else ...
This company, works for Putin. They already have all your data, banking passwords etc
I'd feel safer with Kaspersky having my data than any of the U.S. approved NSA backdoored antivirus companies.
That's a fair point 😂
THIS. As far as security goes you are better off with local products, as for privacy US/EU citizens should use RU/CN products and vice versa.
Updates can be done via VPN, which people avoiding 14 eyes already use anyway, so this ban affects mostly companies amd regular users.
Ditto. I'm very happy with Kaspersky. Any software/apps headquarterd in the US (including Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc) all give back-door access to US government departments. I'd trust a Russian or Chinese provider over a US one (for privacy reasons) every day of the week.
Every concern listed by the US government (about Kaspersky) is essentially the same activity already being carried out (illegally) by the US government themselves. There's a very interesting interview with Pavel Durov (creator of VK and Telegram) in which he talks about why he moved Telegram out of the US to relocate in Dubai.
It amuses me that you think Kaspersky doesn't have a Russian approved back door as well.
@@Elrecoal19 The fact is that the Russians are incredibly talented with IT and developing apps. The technology and services Russian consumers have at their fingertips in their day-to-day lives is a decade ahead of what consumers in the UK, Europe and the US have.
Much as Brian's is a great channel, the doom and gloom talk about Kaspersky's future - is just that: talk. The US and the economies of the G7 countries are small potatoes when you look how big (and rapidly growing) the economies of the BRICS countries are.
I've used Kaspersky for more than 10 years and it's been easily the best paid for Antivirus software I've ever had,I'm sure this is a geo-political decision ,well if it only applies in the US then as I'm in the UK I'll carry on using it at least until my subscription is up for renewal in the Autumn,so I'll check again just before the renewal date.
They are all the best, the true best is Windows defender. They patch before anyone else and better, since the Code is their own lmao!!
If you've used it for the alt 10 years, then you have no experience with competing products. That doesn't mean it's not excellent, but it does mean you should learn to write more accurately.
@@danmar007 I have been using Kaspersky for 6 or 7 years. I have not tried Bitdefender nor Malwarebytes, but I had previous experience with Norton and McAfee (both slowed my system down noticeably) as well as a short time with free products from Panda and AVG. I agree with @rickriccled6034. Your mileage may vary.
Kaspersky was the best I ever used, The morning of September 12 it stopped working for me & I'm probably not the only one, Thanks Government Grannies
The U.S. government is upset they keep catching their malware.
More like they have "Reds under the bed" syndrome again.
NOTE: McAfee does little to find problems & Norton will slooow down your system; they are *CRAP.* So be careful of what you want as a replacement for Kaspersky.
Bitdefender is what I recommend
Yes and Eset perhaps? 😉
Avira?

Thank God I don’t live in the USA where the Government tells you what you can use and not use. I will keep KASPERSKY.
The same people also said Saddam and Kim were dictators. LOL

Totally ! You understand...
Yet I'm quite sure your own GOV is Russia.

The only country to actually ban Kapersky is the US. I'm in Australia and will continue to use Kapersky, It's by far better than McAfee and Nortons.
It's worrying when a british youtuber waves the "USA is the world" flag
McAfee, Nortons, Trend Micro, Avast, AVG.. theyre all bloated beyond reason. Software obesity,... lol
The Australian government sucks up to the US though. I wouldn't be surprised if they followed suit for brownie points.
Windows defender, they patch sooner, better, since its their own Code they are patching.
Ditto
that's sucks my country is under USA control what happens there's literally takes effect here few months later but i won't give up on Kaspersky no matter what
Kaspersky caught the NSA setting up a back door into every Windows machine with Eternal Blue and also came up with a way to determine if your device is infected with Pegasus. This is why Kaspersky is banned.
The fact that they tell that mc Affee is a better alternative then Kaspersky makes all the alarm bells ringing. Mc Affee is a horrible sketchy program and the builder of Mc Affee is a lunatic.
McAfee was a kickass av product originally but the creator stopped being a part of that decades ago and wayyyyyy before he passed away
That said McAfee has been total bloatware shit for decades now and it is even worse than znortona and that shit idps horrid garbage same thing one peter norton left everything from them self to shit
The only one left now taphats acceptable is the AV only version of reset nod32 and that still needs careful install do NOT waste money or time for their offerings beyond the AV only!!!
They can't prevent me getting updates. I would like to see them try.
McAfee is garbage.
McAfee is garbage
I've worked IT for the past 20+ years; McAfee is indeed garbage; I remember back in 1997 or there abouts we had it on numerous military computers; AV scanners went crazy with the number of instances of viruses PER computer ; it was beyond ridiculous. Trend is another brand you could not give to me; if you have to use Trend, you may as well bury your head in the sand.
I remember having a team test AV products back around 2010; the young IT guys thought that if the AV wasn't finding something, it meant that the AV product was doing its job; despite the disk thrashing that was so obvious; but - some had came from Best Buy as techs; so being smart was not necessarily a good description of their attributes.
I had McAfee included in my new Dell PC in February when I bought it and dumped it because I've had Kaspersky for years, never any trouble. Politics is right, they want Americans to buy American products like Microsoft that for all we know is run by the CIA.
I'm not from the us, I can't imagine my self without Kaspersky, can you do a video on how to remove defender permanently on windows 10 and 11 it's very annoying it tend to delete any unknown softwares automatically when i turn Kaspersky off, unlike Kaspersky who ask you first before he do anything.
Made that video
@@Britec09 i will check it ✅ Thanx mate.
I prefer it to master spying nsa Cia and Google
They should ban McAfee that comes bundled with new laptops and is impossible to remove.
i used it from Windows 3.11 to Windows 7 with zero issues and it was absolutely the best AV ever.
Putin likes you. He will buy his next yacht with your money.
Use a VPN to get your updates, don't use a free VPN though.
McAfee can bite the big one, when i got my new laptop i got good deal for two years like $50-60 multi pc license but when that was over they automatically charged my cc like $350 dollars for one. f them they are crazy. had to fight with them for a refund as there was no pop up telling me it was going to renew soon and how much. such BS. i will never use them ever again because of that and it is known to be very bloated software and not the best.
mcafee charged me I think 250 once, never using them again i still have not been refunded I gave up
Kaspersky used to come with WIndows PCs/laptops
Its going to hit them hard, I think UK will follow.
Yeah just like McAfee or Trend Micro or Norton
@@shadowopsairman1583 I tried Norton 360 here in Canada, as an alternative to Kaspersky. It was junk by comparison.
I wish Kaspersky Lab Security move to Switzerland, to avoid banned in USA.
Avoid McAfee. Please search for other solutions.
Confirmation Kaspersky is legit with NO BACK-DOORS.
It doesn't need any. Putin makes most of the malware you need protection from. Pay the pizzo and be safe.
EXACTLY!
Its doesn't need any. Putin pays one team to make malware. Then he pays another to make Kaspersky. You want to be protected ? You have to pay Putin.
P00t1n pays to have all comments which tells the truth about Kaspersky removed!!
Former KGB/GRU type running Kasparsky in today's Russia?? No, no back doors at all, Comrade!
Also, to anyone considering renewing an antivirus subscription, check online stores as it may be cheaper to re-buy than renew
Ah that famous western freedom and democracy.
Tru.
exactly
So much better to live in Valdai and have a few million Russians fight for you and give you 20% of their revenue.
Kaspersky is top notch in security matters, at the point it can detect an eliminate all those malwares used to spy you throught backdoors, that's why the banned it in US.
Isn't that a ban in United States only? I strongly believe that in the EU it is not banned, so the EU is not affected. Which also means the updates will work - just not for US residents.
Only USA for now, but other country's will follow
Let's see about that. I'm unsure about Germany where I live. I suppose it won't follow.

Likely can, its like when politicians say they are going to ban porn on the internet.
As Brian points out... Updates will be withheld as of September 29th, so No a VPN will not solve the problem
@@bokami3445 That would require Kaspersky knowing what country you are from so Kaspersky block the updates to the US. Please explain how that will happen and why Kaspersky would even care? Even US sales restrictions is silly as the Internet doesn't care about borders.

I was able to buy a code for another year on eBay the other day. Yes, I'm in US and after reviewing available options I found nothing compelling as a replacement. No, sale of Kaspersky on eBay now is not legal and finding a seller can be a challenge. Also, once you find one, you won't see the name "Kaspersky" mentioned anywhere in the item description. The only way I was able to predict that I was actually buying Kaspersky was by item photo which resembled Kaspersky software logo but without the word Kaspersky in it. So far it worked, now I need to figure out how to continue with the updates once they stop this upcoming fall.
My main attraction to Kaspersky is its firewall. It allows for very fine tuning of application and processes privileges. It's hard to switch to something else when you've been using something for over 15 years and know exactly where everything is at in the settings.
US propaganda.
With the CIA and so many other alphabet soup agencies in the U.S., I'm not surprised.
Im in Europe and will continue to use Kapersky, It's by far the best... and free
I'm amazed this didnt happen a lot sooner all things considered
Its been going on for a while, but its now over. Won't be long before the UK follows US
What things considered? Was Kaspersky a business in a country that started a war based on a lie of weapons of mass destruction? I would trust an internation company with it roots from Russia any day of a US based company that will all comply to the authority of the NSA.
I have 840 days left on my Kaspersky software for 3 PCs. Somehow I doubt the government is going to reimburse me for my loss.
Don't care. I've used Kaspersky for over 10 years.
I'm not about to join US paranoia
Much better to pay pizzo to Putin and be safe from the malware he pays the other team to concoct.
I’d rather Russia had my data than my own government.
Kaspersky POTECTED ME FROM BEING HACKED ON MY COMPUTER TAKEN OVER IN 2015
Well being a long time user of Kaspersky until I changed over to ESET I did notice that way back there were concerns about using the software so this is not anything new. I actually dropped Kaspersky not because I was worried about it but more that it had become way more expensive and far more confusing to set up and use. Now I have to say that knowing ESET I probably would have changed over to it well before I did. The other security software's like McAfee, Avast, Norton, AVG are for me pretty awful to use and the nagging via email to get it back is so annoying.
How about for users elsewhere outside of the usa? How does it affects us?
The UK is OK for now, but we will follow.
No only US
Well Kaspersky must be thrilled. If it's anything like the yank;s Huawei fiasco. Chinese tech is booming, just like the Russian economy. The only people hurt are America and its goons. Feel sorry for the Brits - they are almost bankrupt thanks to sucking up to the US bully boys

Others=American
I would choose Kaspersky, it is safer than others.
Banned in US only.
Today is Sept 29, 20024 and I'm just getting this news after UltraAV (from Kaspersky) suddenly pops up on my computer and my KAV disappeared. I just renewed in June. I'm now looking for a new AV with password manager software just like KAV offered.
I'm waiting on co-pilot / recall to be totally banned from Microsoft
damn russians 😁
Thanks! Living in an Ever Changing World keeps us on our toes!
This is a political decision with lots of hypotheticals and no hard evidence of wrongdoing.
For EU customers, all customer data is store on Swiss servers.
Although, I can see this a being a prudent measure for government/federal departments, making a case for national security, ala the Huawei decision regarding cellular communications infrastructure.
That said, I do disapprove of Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
This has been going on since 2017 at least. Brian! be a good time to make a video on the good, bad protection programs ? BTW Did you see the google ads hacking MAC users story?
This has been an ongoing issue with Kaspersky, but now I think others will follow and ban Kaspersky.
It's only banned in the US. But American's can continue using kaspersky products anyway, using _workarounds._ Also, there's no real evidence that kaspersky is doing what they've been acused of doing. It's all hypotheticals at this point. And that's all that ban is really based on.
I highly recommend Bitdefender HAS a replacement of Kaspersky. 😂
3:10 _"It's not going to receive any updates after sep 29 2024"_
.....Unless Americana's use some kindo of vpn/tor scenario to download and instsall the latest updates for their kaperski products.
Maybe you should make a video about it and how it could be done in.... theory...for educational purposes :P lol
Scare mongering video.
It has been "banned" for personal use in USA. You are implying that this a global ban. I did not think I would see a video like this from you.
As for McAfee(Windows security is better) and Bitdefender(It's good, yet very annoying), no thanks. If, I needed to change anti virus/security to a new package, then I would go Sophos. Sophos now have a home version. Sophos are well known for providing business solutions that are respected throughout the business sector. I do not know when they started to provide a home user solution, it is nice to know they have done that.
Why has it taken them this long? Typical Yanks. Just saying. (Not denying the actions of the Russian State are abominable). A pity Microsoft doesn't sort its software in the first place.
As for what are your options then maybe try running Kaspersky through a VPN or VPN split tunnel for just the Kaspersky app so it connected to a server outside of the US.
I trust Putin with my spending habit and browsing history a lot more than Google / Mcafee / Norton / USA Government.
I use ESET, Very happy with it. I had McAfee, ESET Is far better. " It's The End Of Kaspersky As We Know It" To the tune of REM.
It used to be the best but then the org coders were bought out and the software went BLOATED and stupid and I moved to NOD32 and the same has happened with that sadly so you have to watch carefully what parts of their bs u install if any
This sucks! I've been using kas for over a decade. I've always found it to be better than other antivirus programs.
Interestingly my Glasswire showed a connection to a Microsoft Server in Russa the other day!!!
Glasswire is pretty good.
Does the ban is for mainland USA or also territories? I have been using Kaspersky for years now and it would be a great deal to let it go.
Hay Joe what about the China own companys? No more electronics from China. Inbed those chips with backdoors.
idk if this will be banned everywhere in world, I'm not in U.S or UK I'm in Australia using Kaspersky so idk if i need to change it or not, ill have to wait and see if It gets banned everywhere such as Europe
UK will 100% follow USA
This is like politicians saying they will ban porn because they are clueless to how the internet works. China's Great firewall relies on nobody using a VPN and today many AV's also provide a VPN.
@@Britec09comply to gov to U guys don't want ban if they start talking abaut it.

Like all the other Vaccine makers Kaspersky isn't located in Switzerland...
Uninstalled McAfee two years ago, and I'm NOT installing it EVER
I could care less as I don't use Kaspersky. I doubt there will be refunds as the issue isn't Kaspersky's problem.
I don't use 3rd party AV. Windows Defender suits my needs. I consider all of the 3rd party AV products (McAfee, Norton, etc) a waste of money. YMMV
Windows Defender is poor with ransomware it did not stop the one i got
Ransomware generally comes via email and social engineering. It typically requires some interaction on the user's part. Infected websites (like Russian bride scams and certain porn sites) are another common source, in the form of clickbait ads.
In nearly 30 years of being on the internet, I've never suffered a ransomware attack, and only had 1 piece of malware (back in my XP days) that I had to reformat and re-install the system. I'm very careful where I go, I run ad blockers, and I'm completely skeptical of every email I get. YMMV
Windows Defender is scam - only block "hack tools" and "riskware" - no viruses indeed
windows defender is too weak, i found alot of trojans + virus with bitdefender, rogukiller, hitmanpro , windows defender never found that. Like 10-15+ trojans found with bitdefender
I have just been told that i can no longer use one of my banking apps on my phone unless i uninstall Kaspersky!
I remember the U.S government banning Kaspersky products within their departments way back in 2017. So, it's not just the current conflict that is setting this precedent. countries like Russia and China have their businesses subject to state intervention. This is why, thankfully, the U.K government finally listened to security concerns and changed their mind about using Chinese software to power its 5G communications infrastructure.
Reading the comments here, I am shocked so many seem to put their trust in a Russian enterprise than here in the West. Sure, western governments pry and can be intrusive. However, if people are more willing to place more trust in the likes of Russia or China, you will be in for a nasty surprise.
It's all too easy, almost fashionable, to take an anti-establishment attitude when you've never known what it's like to live in truly oppressive regimes. This attitude reminds me of the typical university student who thinks communism and Marks ism are the best thing since sliced bread.
Kaspersky may be absolutely fine. However, such a company being based in Russia and at the whim of a dictator would be a very potent vector of cyber attack given its vast western user base.
I banned Kaspersky in 2015, bought a computer that came with that virus. Did a fresh install as soon as I seen it.
This is only ban in the US and it teritories. This does not affect other countries ...for now. Video make it sound like the deadline of Sept 29, 2024 to switch out of Kaspersky. If you live in other countries you still get updates. Unless after my posting here other countries have join the US to ban this product.
I personally do not trust Kapersky and have not for a long long long time.....
i downloaded kaspersky and had hacker attack another day - from Moscow area ;-)))))
Don't want US customers knowing they have US malware installed. On a different note , new update from Adobe switches on by default that saving photo files to their cloud computers. No Thanks, my files stay local. MS forcing you to use on-line accounts instead of local. No way. Windows defender does a really good job.
Not going to happen in India😅😅😅
Alright I switch to Tails! Definitely not McAffee or Norton 😂
Windows Defender is good enough for me, I use macOS primarily anyway, I only use Windows for backing up my Android phone
Don’t use mcafee or Norton. Symantec about used to be good not anymore.
I dont understand what this jeans for europe, because its banned in united states
Just system VPN to russia and update. (if you want to)
The only thing I have ever used Kaspersky for is a one time scan and for my full time protection I have been using W/Defender with the stock firewall and common sense.
Why does windows defender takes hours or even days to complete a full scan,,,i'll stick with avast now that kaspersky has been banned!!
Use a tool called Revo and see if its still there. You will see it is.
We laughed at Lavrov using his iPhone!
I had Kasperkey for 10 months and it would randomly close out of itself sometimes, other thin that it did great. I've switched to Malwarebytes now and it has way more false positives.
Although I don't use anti-virus (because Windows Defender is all I need) I will make sure to install Kaspersky as soon as possible, and will even PAY for it (a first for me) because I want to support this company.😁
I have never used anything but Windows built in AV, along with all my family and even my customers. WHATS THE PROBLEM? No virus or malware ever. It make ZERO sense to me that a 3rd party AV would be able to protect Windows better than the MFR of Windows. 🙄🙄
3rd party is nothing more than $$$ and bogs your computer. I've had computers brought to me that won't even run with those blasted things on them, remove AV, all is well again. KEEP EM ALL!
So now Kaspersky is the new boogie man?
well done for banning russian software👏
