You sir just saved me a TONNE of time we have 1500+ square feet of flooring I have to de-nail so thank you this is nice and simple but does the trick quick ♡
very helpful video (similar circumstances in terms of free hardwood that matched others throughout my house). one tip to add, i picked up a pack of Dewalt Nail Set tools to help aid in the pneumatic nail cleats even further. also used a white waxed pencil to mark boards that needed some further attention.
Thank you! I made the jig, but I still had a hard time prying the cleats out after I had tapped them down. Then I realized if I just grabbed behind the head of the cleat with a pair of pliers and hit the pliers with the hammer, the nail continued out smoothly.
Hi Thank you for the idea I expanded your idea and my nails come out so easily but I’m working under natural heat outside and these cleats are just coming out no problem 🌈🇨🇦
I’m trying to get staples out of reclaimed tongue and groove hardwood flooring but they’re in there deep… so far I’ve pretty much had to rip them through because I can’t hammer them back out
Nice video. Did you cut out a notch from the bottom board? If so, was the gap made by the notch necessary for the nail to pass the edge of the lower board? Good luck on the help part, lol!
Have you done that? Seems to me you could even go one further and build a jig that would allow you to slide each board through. I'm dealing with pneumatic staples--and yes, the flooring was only about $.80/sqft.

Did you reinstall them?

Excellent video and it looks like a great set tips for my 1000 sf of reclaiming and reusing job!
Nice, elegant idea. Thanks for taking the time to post it.
Looks like a good idea. I'm going to try it.

Angle grinder. I can't see any actual benefit to removal aside from the obvious--not destroying your saw blade. That could be avoided, though.
Great work! Genius jig
