Fun Fact: The times when traffic lights are useful are on junctions, (previously it was just on crossroads) When a car goes up to a junction it will automatically slow down. with a traffic light there, if it's green it won't slow down and just go straight through. The reason you haven't noticed is because you very rarely use crossroads which (as i have already mentioned) until now were the only times that traffic lights were useful.
From patch notes: "Three-way intersections now count properly as intersections and cars will slow down accordingly when passing through them. The fact that they did not before was a bug rather than an intentional design choice."
My Advice: When in an emergency, don't delete any roads, first connect the extra road/motorway to the existing roads and when the situation calmed down a bit, clean up afterwards.
I like you the most of all Mini Motorways players, it's really nice and highly entertaining seeing someone have fun with the game instead of only going for ultra high-scores and hard-core strategies. Keep it up man! :)
RetroFlux has some good videos on this, both the patch itself and ideal uses - not plugging, it's educational to watch and improve Side note, the new t section patch rules completely ignore drives and specifically shop entrances
Love your video's! One tip: if a house is 'flashing' it means it's not connected to a shop of it's color. If you watch this closely you won't nearly miss as many of them.
In sweden, you yield to people coming from your right, including in t-junctions, but not if they're leaving a private driveway, so these junction rules make perfect sense!
I was surprised today when I realized that I wasn't already subscribed! I was introduced to your channel with this series and I've been binge watching your content ever since. Great stuff!
@@aditya-lr2in Yup! For whoever is fond of these linguistic stuff, here is another tip: the "r" in "Janeiro" has the same sound as the double t in American English (as in "patty").
As I'm watching these videos I'm noticing you build up a lot of travel debt with excessively long roads instead of just using your roundabouts or street lights to make an efficient crossroad that would probably save time over the double length journeys. Like the second you saw the timers you should have motorwayed the purples for sure.
You keep doing this, but I highly suggest that you don't connect houses if the supermarkets and imaxes are being satisfied already. Adding them to the road will eventually lead to congestion as there are more cars on the road than actually needed. If you see a house with both cars in the driveway, just disconnect it. Only add it when you see that a shop needs relief.
I’ve been binge watching your polybridge episodes for the past 3 hours, I didn’t even realise you’d uploaded something new 2 hours ago! Also, you keep saying that nobody calls you motorway Matt, however that is my go to when thinking about your name watching your videos!
It is time to start employing shared driveway entrances. Make neighbors share an intersection and reduce their number, which raises the street speed limit.
Hi! I love watching your videos and seeing you progress. It would be great if I could watch one video right after the other. Could you possibly update your playlists or number your episodes please?! Thank you!!!
I feel like over-segregating is the reason why you're running into "early death." Having some two-color systems for local traffic is acceptable to keep the route times down. I would use motorways primarily to extend the reach of two-color networks. Give it a try and see how you enjoy it.
I have loved watching you do this so much I had to go and buy the game. Would have loved to see you attack the daily challenge that was only one of each upgrade and each week gave you just 20 road tiles.
I don't know this game but it really feels like you're playing it wrong... Cars are waiting in the houses so, there is no advantage of segregating houses from the same color. Meaning that you can have one factory waiting while a car of the same colour is waiting in a house... that you chose not to connect (even though it's really close). And if you were using some roundabouts, you could probably afford to use a single road for multiple colours. It really feels like your choice of segregating roads/colours and some houses/shops limits you in the long run. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but it really looks like you're placing random rules on yourself, maybe it's just because I haven't seen the downside of playing differently. But if that's the correct way of playing this game, then I'm not interested in buying it.
I think your trouble with the purples would have been better served by linking the houses via motorway INSTEAD of the road. Motorways are faster over the same distance, so the cars would have arrived more quickly, rather than pulling from the far side of the map, where it still took them too long to get over there. You had plenty of cars available, they just couldn't get there in time.
In the beginning you said, over time the demand of supermarkets and cinemas goes up. Thats not quite true, even an imax cinema is happy with one house, it just has more space. :)
Fun fact, didn’t know what map we were on but I’m learning Arabic and saw that the river has the name Dubai in it, “Dubai Creek” after further inspection, but thought that was fun that I can use the letters I’ve learned to figure out “real world” situations 😁
Traffic lights are useful for places where the traffic crosses. The traffic lights are quite smart and give a lot of green. Traffic doesn't get stuck like in roundabouts.
Driveways from houses and aprons don’t slow down traffic if connected directly to the road, truck now is to have a single snake though all houses so they connect straight to the road and no one slows down 👍
I keep trying the maps where I got my highest scores and no matter what I can never get anywhere close to the scores I originally got. No idea what I'm doing wrong.
RCE I love your videos! I’ve been binge watching all of them since I found your channel a week ago and all of your videos are amazing, keep making these beautiful pieces of art!
you can see if a supermarket needs more houses by looking to see if the houses currently connected to it have cars parked there. If they do, you don't need to connect more and can save those houses for other destinations, or just disconnect them to reduce junctions/traffic
How many times do we have to tell matt that it is NOT AN UPSIDE DOWN SHOPPING BAG 😭😂 It's like a location pin image - like from google maps when you pin a location.
Quite some time ago I worked as a production artist for an electronics manufacture. My job was to design P.C. boards. This was a few years before there was computer software to do this. By avoiding crossroads this is pretty much the exact same process. I always found it to be an interesting challenge. The main difference was as a commercial P.C. board, jumper wires (motorways) were forbidden, but I could move the I-Max Theater (components) if I couldn't find a direct connection solution.
Take a look at the houses to see if you have enough assigned to a particular point. If there are idle cars, you have enough and can reallocate some houses to another supermarket / imax.
You can tell when you get a lot of houses and bunch them together on a single road it causes a lot of congestion even with the colors being segregated. It probably would be better to make use of traffic lights and create more intersections.
I think lights were useful in-game because cars slow down at junctions. But they needed upgrading cuz the time it took to switch colors was too long(like NYC lights lmao)
I wish they added viaducts. like motorways but they're not fast and can go over, say, 5 spaces and 2 roads at most. using a motorway for a very short distance kind of sucks when viaducts actually exist in real life. it'd be a lot more useful than traffic lights.
Why not connect all like colored things together and essentially just make it so each color has its own network? Then if any businesses aren't getting enough traffic or traffic fast enough, put a motorway in to make it faster? Could help declutter the map a bit. Also, could have crossroads with roundabout or traffic light to allow for different colors to cross paths in order to reduce clutter, distance, and complexity?
