I feel like when that realisation hits you that ‘other people don’t care what you look like or what you wear because they’re only thinking about themselves and worrying about people judging them’ you can feel free of the shopping to impress mentality. It’s similar to going to the gym for the first time, nobody in there is judging you because they’re in for the same reasons. Have a great day everyone 🙏🏻
Hi today I saw your videos for the first time and as I’m starting my journey with minimalism I find you really inspiring and also relaxing. I’ll watch your videos and get more inspirations. You’re giving huge impact🫶🏼
One thing I heard a while ago in a yoga class from a teacher: saying "no" to something is saying "yes" to something else. I think that's a good quote for your video today. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts - they're very valuable to me!
I'm currently doing a "no buy year" PS5 game CD purchase challenge. I've now reached the 8th month where I haven't bought a single game. During this time, play old PSP games, PS4 or games that I have on the PC. I'll keep going! I love this challenge! 🙂
We all have one thing in common, planet Earth. Anything you buy takes away a resource from the earth. Therefore, I buy needs, not wants. Materialism has become a disease.
Good thing is that I always got really bored by shopping. In my life the greatest frugal choices have been living in small apartments, not travelling outside Europe and not flying, chosing electricity from wind-shares (not a huge initial investment), and not having a car. I used to say: if you refuse a car you are able to buy a new bike every month, instead, as you save so much money. (Of course I have only bought one new bike in my life...) But now my hubby and I have a second-hand EV, for I can't bike and walk much anymore, for reasons of health. It is cheaper to use than public transport, but was an investment up front. A good principle is to never use credit when buying things, but to save first, possible exceptions being taking loans for studies and the first home of your own.
I want to be serious on living a minimalist life from now on. Ive tried in the past but then i went back to shopping again. Now, i want to be serious and intentional.
It's a deep seated socially engrained mindset that stems from insecurities and social pressures. It's not easy to change overnight but you can change with focused intentions and changing bad habits with good ones. What has helped me alot is tracking every single expense. It's an eye opener ❤
Such helpful wise nuggets Seve. I resigned from my job 2 months ago and am actively looking for a job. In the meantime, I've been a decluttering fool, working towards Minimalization. I LOVE shopping! And so while I've cut my spending down drastically, I still find myself searching for cheaper things to "help with my organization." I am considering taking on the no spend for the month of August challenge. Financially, I need to do it. But I don't think I've ever gone a whole month in my life without buying something unnecessary. This video has really helped me to see the beauty of not needing to purchase things. I want to focus more on connections! Thank you for your encouragement and example, to do so!
Thanks for watching! I definitely suggest to watch some no buy month videos on youtube to get some inspiration and helpful tips! 😊 Good luck and I am happy my videos are helpful in your journey! ❤️
I am not a shopper/spender, but I do sometimes go for the dopamine hit of buying something non-essential. When this hits me, I go to the thrift store. It's hard (for me) to overspend there. Possibly set yourself a "spend budget" instead of "no spend". Maybe $20 for the month or something.
Excellent suggestions. Thank you for sharing your insights, most of which, I imagine, are hard won from personal experience. You do the world an invaluable service.
For me the trick to avoid shopping new beautiful design decoration for home was to add a banner for advertisements in the mail box and stop browsing the home decoration magazines (in the library). Fortunately I have never bought them home as they become out of date quite soon 😅
hey, the quality of things on temu is suprisingly good! I bought there few things after I moved out and had to use some rental friendly suff and I got it all there and I saved so much comparing to how much it costs in other shops
Seve, you are like 10 years younger than me but so much wiser than I ever was at that age 😂 . Wish I was so down to earth and in touch with my true needs at the time. Ps. I am proud of young people like you. Only thing I honestly don't support is the veganism but I understand thats something personal of course.
Thank you ❤️ We all have our own journeys and don't need to support every cause of lifestyle. Veganism is very much aligned with my core value of compassion so practicing it comes very easily and naturally for me 😊
First, I’m a natural minimalist. However, even though I live on a very strict budget I do have occasional wants therefore I have rules. Rule 1 what is the cost of upkeep? Rule 2 why do I want this? Rule 3 did I go back and look at it three times? If the answers are 1 little or nothing, 2 I find it beautiful, uplifting or educational AND 3 yes, then I get up off of the money.
I want to be serious on living a minimalist life from now on. Ive tried in the past but then i went buy to shopping again. Now, i want to be serious and intentional.
Actually i dont need much. I Just need a car that can go to A - B. And i love riding motorycycles. These 2 things already cost a bomb. Also i have a watch collecting addiction which always cost me my money. I love food that drains away most of my money.
So is having any possessions ok with this lifestyle? Collectables? Pets, any jewelry? Or is it just the clothes on your back? Any electronics? This sounds like it sucks. I do agree that you will save alot of money but what’s the point of life if you can enjoy certain things? I do think that there’s a limit to things you should buy stuff.
Totally it is okay! Minimalism is about finding out what brings value in your life (utility, joy, etc.) and then removing the rest. What is useless clutter for someone can be very valuable for someone else. Some people who live frugally or are minimalist can have very little possessions and avoid buying anything, and some others buy more because they feel they need those. I think the bottom line is acquiring and keeping only things that after thoughtful self-reflection you know make your life truly better. Hope this clarified things :)
Make a list. If there are things you need, put it on a list. You need new tires, put them on the list. You need shoes or underwear, put it on the list. Now you have an on going list of things you NEED. You know where to spend when you have extra money, tax return, bonus or a raise.
What is one thing you stopped buying to save money? 🌿
I’ve stopped buying many things but the biggest one is home decor including seasonal. I’ve wasted so much money on these things.
Clothes. I have enough of them.
Clothes !!
I stopped going to the hair salon every week and am now going all-natural with my curly hair.
@@taracasper I also stopped going to the hair salon for hair coloring

Very well said! 🤗 That one realization can save you from so much headache, money, stress, etc.
i don’t care what others think also i know that they don’t care, yet i still buy stuff for me and myself alone. so this ain’t it
But people do care about what you look like and what you wear.

I feel very much the same. This is one of the reasons why I do what I do, even though I don't mention it a lot on my channel 😊 Love this comment!
Yes
Well put
Or it will probably end up in a landfill polluting the earth.
I stopped buying things a year ago unless I need it as everyday item. I hate “stuff” lol

no buy month or no buy year....?? I am so happy with a 'no buy day' already 🤣
It's a good start 😉

Do you have a spouse or children?
