I think the SNK80x series are great winter watches. Super small and discreet so they fit under a shirt sleeve easily. They’re also strap monsters, so it’s hard to get bored of them. NATOs, leather and lately I’ve been into mesh bracelets and they look amazing. Uncle Seiko also just released a bead blasted bracelet for these models which looks awesome too. In the summer I rock my larger chronographs and divers, but when the weather gets cooler these things are the mutt’s nuts.
I've had this watch for nearly 2 years and it's held up pretty good. I wear it every day and I've swam with it and everything. There was one time it stopped working when I was using a jackhammer, but I just wound it up and it started ticking again.
I bought the SNK805 for $82.00 (USD) new in 2018. If I didn’t already have one, I would not buy it now for today’s prices; $200+. Mine runs fine, in spec for the 7S26 movement.
Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Mine was $120 AUD and still runs perfect and the prices now are crazy. You could easily put some more money and get a new Seiko 5 for that price.
@@gregorysmith3097 fair enough. If you havnt tried smaller watches I highly recommend trying on smaller ones. I never thought I'd like them but I do now.
Like many watch enthusiasts, my first auto was the Invicta prodiver.. No longer in the collection but I actually kinda miss it and am tempted to get one again. Great video as usual, the visuals are insane bro 😱😱😱
It looks very good on your wrist. I’d say it looks ideal actually! The watches men wore in the 40s were even smalller. Check out some classic movies from that time.
@@thermionic1234567 you're not wrong about men back in the day. I've since gotten used to smaller watches from the time I posted this video however I still think my ideal size is between 38-40mm. Thanks for the great comment 🙌
@@watchout24738-40 MM is pretty sweet for me as well. That said, some of the smaller watches gold watches with a lizard band go great with a tux. (I know, Ms Manners says not to wear a watch with a tux; but a small, discreet piece is fun and kinda subversive.)
Thanks man. yeah I feel that its the perfect starter watch as it gets your feet wet then the natural evolution is to move on from it. I dont doubt that many are in drawers lol
Great video, i like this watch. I have the Orient flight 2 automatic watch on a leather strap, I think is a little bigger than this seiko and is 100 m water resistant. But the dial and the hands are very similar. The crown is bigger on the Orient, and is screwdown, but no exhibition back for this reason of water resistance. But I like this seiko color and the strap is nice. 👍👍👍
I've got the SNK 809, but it's been modified with the 4R-36 movement (topped with an OEM kanji day disc), and hands from an SRPG37. It also retains its original strap and crystal.
If you're willing to spend for the SRPG37, I'd say go for it. The movement rings need to be swapped, of course, and those hands fit in the case perfectly. The hour hand goes right to the edge of the secondary track, and the minute and seconds hands go right to the edge of the dial.
If you're willing to spend for the SRPG37, I'd say go for it. The movement rings need to be swapped of course, and proper winding stems can be gotten from Crystal Times. The hands will fit perfectly within the case, going to the edges of their respective hour / minute tracks. The whole job shouldn't take more than an hour, with the right tools.
I agree. If you can get it for a good price. I just started collecting this year. I was able to get the black dial for $129 US. I also picked up the Snkl23 For about the same. Both are very accurate. I bought a new srpg29 seiko 5 for $270 us. It runs 45 seconds fast per day which makes it just barely within standards but Is very frustrating. I would say the real value in seiko is with the older seiko 5 watches like the one you just reviewed. Thank you.
That sucks about it being so far out but I'm glad you appreciate these older ones. They arnt bad for the price... Or at least the price they used to be lol
No. You cannot get a dresskx for 200 AUD. A dresskx is almost double the price of this one, and all the other snk models are priced smirilarly and they are essentially the same watch as this one but a different design.
You are 100% correct. I more meant that the current $200 price for this one is very high so it makes more sense to spend a lil more and get a dresskx or something of the sort. Good you pointed that out though. Cheers. 🙌
@@watchout247 It is funny because 2 days ago I ordered the SNK809 for $170 .. and after 1 day I cancelled the order. I love this watch and I want to own it but it is really not worth the 170 bucks asking price unfortunately. I added + 90 bucks and I bought a Spinnaker Croft diver instead.
Bruh it fits you perfectly
I just bought the black dial version for my nephew’s tenth birthday - he LOVED it. Such a fantastic first mechanical!! Nice review
That's so cool. One lucky kid right there. Solid first auto.

I love the recognition and breakdown. You definitely sold it... Probably more than my review lol It sure is a good watch.

Wow. That's some extreme testing. Glad to hear that it made it through all that.

Versatile, easy to read, Seiko reliability. What's not to like 👌 great review mate
Yeah Seiko really knows how to tick those boxes 👌👌
That’s such a cool Watch I love Seiko line of field watches. This is right up there with some of the best ones. Great job CJ.
Always appreciate the support brother. It's a classic watch for sure but I had to move on. That crown was insane. Lol
I love the bead blast finish, but the case itself is a bit on the small side. I also wish the strap was a little longer.
