Rolex Explorer - A timeless piece that combines elegance and ruggedness.
Rolex Submariner - An iconic dive watch that needs no introduction.
Seiko Tuna (Quartz) - Known for its unique design and robustness.
Seiko Pocket Conductor Watch - A beautiful pocket watch that's a nod to the past.

Daily watch wearer here. I used to fit my watches like your Tuna…and wear them loose and down by the base of my hand. That restricts movement! Completely unwearable when MTB-ing. After getting into automatics a few years back, I learned to wear my watch above my wrist bone. Was weird at first, but I have full range of motion and wrist is much more usable for all sort of activities.

Correct. A TON of people don't like watches because they don't know how to wear them. They are not, and I mean absolutely not supposed to be loose and slinking around. Rule of thumb is above the wrist bone now do ten push ups. If you can't comfortably start push-ups with your watch on you are not wearing it correctly.

I agree 100 percent. "Never criticize a man's hobbies!" Sure, I have a secret watch collection and very few people know that about me but, that's been my thing ever since I was a kid. I do wear one every day (can't stand people that have to look for a phone to know the time) and if I'm on shift, it has to have a mechanical second arm but that's for work things. Thanks for finally posting this one and I can't wait to see what's next.

I love wearing a mechanical watch. It just has so much more character and more fun than wearing a smart watch. I want my watch to do one thing. Always be able to tell me the time, regardless of what I'm doing and where I am. And you're right. The Explorer is a any situation watch. Mines never had a issue and it ran for 15 years before I had it serviced and the only reason I had it serviced is because I felt like it. The watch was still running plus or minus a second or two a day. You don't have to spend crazy money to get a solid watch though. I wore a seiko for years and that watch is still running well.

Advice from a jeweler of 15+ years if you're going to change the batteries on your quartz watches please always make sure you throw away the old batteries. I know you most likely always do, but if a small child puts a watch battery in there mouth and swallow it they have 2 hours or less to live especially if the battery is a lithium. I always advise my customers to follow this. Act accordingly brothers and god bless.

    • @Crzyace28
      @Crzyace28 2 месяца назад +7

Another piece of advice is to take an awl and scrach the date on the battery. It's good practice to do this so you can see the drain of the watch and see if it may need worked on.

Amazing collection, honestly somewhat jealous. Here are some things I noticed that might make them more enjoyable in the future though:
1:30 a likely reason why the khaki took in condensation, well two really, was that the screw down crown was open or the caseback. I know because I was a bold person who changed their watch’s time in the pool and now I have paid dearly.
Another thing 2:55 is a reason the seiko tuna is hard to wear is because the watch is too far up your wrist, typically it is behind the wrist bone. Same thing at 6:40
7:39 Nice, never knew such a thing existed. Pocket watches are beautiful and have immense history. Something you might be interest is a West Clox or Bell Watches. They have immense history in american train conducting.
Regardless, beautiful collection and want to see it grow. Cheers ProHo

Hamilton makes some of the absolute best watches you can buy for the money. If it doesn’t have a screw down crown, swimming is a bad idea regardless of what the water resistance may or may not be. If you want a watch to swim with you oughta make sure it has a screw down crown.

Only things to critique about this video are: I wish you would have the camera non-mirrored so that the watches looked like how you see them yourself. The other thing I wish was done are maybe some B-Roll of the watches up close to see the watch faces, cases, stems, and watchband or bracelet (if they are original to the watch). Beyond that though, I appreciate you taking the time to put out a video of your watches. It is a fascinating topic and
Watches that I do not own currently but look forward towards getting are:

    Seiko Prospex Spring Drive GMT
Hamilton (not sure on model yet, but it would need to be one of the old military looking models and I prefer mechanical over quartz)

Fix Dad’s watch. It’s you best watch. Followed by the Tuna.
The story is the best part and family stories are the best. And the shared watch is awesome for your son. Get your names engraved or something like that. A father and son watch is extra special. (I love Rolex, they’re so classic and great, but the family connection is so special.

If your watch is flopping around on your wrist, then you need to take the time to adjust the band...the band should be snug enough on you wrist to firmly hold your watch in place no matter how big or heavy it is...when i discover this, i started to wear all my large size seikos comfortably...by the way your Tuna is a beautiful iconic watch in the seiko line.

So true, Cody! I hate watches that require a charge. Complicated. I wear an ARES, Diver 1, mechanical. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Great collection. Btw, that Rolex Sub, gold is over $20G used. Don’t lose it!

My uncle Paul has had a submariner for the last 35-40 years. I have wanted one since the first time he let me wear it when I was 8 or 9 years old. I have never bought one but it has been the pinnacle of my watch desire. Maybe when I retire in 20 years I’ll treat myself to one.

Love mechanical watches myself, I have quite a few with the Seiko NH35 movement and I really enjoy them.
I agree the Hamilton should be more durable for the price. They should have made it with a screw down crown. A tool watch should be able to be submerged.

My first watch was a Hamilton Khaki Automatic. Got it back in 2018 and have worn it almost everyday doing activities such as welding, operating press brake and shear, general metal working, surfing, snorkeling, swimming, and exercising. Has not skipped a beat or had a single drop of water in it. Yours must have been unlucky or the crown was not pushed in all the way or in some way defective. I really like the Tuna and the Explorer BTW. I am currently on a "waitlist" for an explorer I ( 40 mm ) and a no date sub. Sadly, the days of getting used Rolex is long gone for me because I am not willing to pay the secondary market premiums.

Just the prefect watch video 👌🏻 enjoy the good things in life and don’t be a shamed by your own success. couldn’t agree more with you. Not to different from my own collection actually. But be careful using a automatic movement when driving motorcycles or hard work. Impact work and vibration can cause the movement too fail on you. And the thing I love most about watches is it’s the one thing you have on your body for decades and that you attach memories too. And take care of it and you kids can have the pleasure to have them after you’re gone. Much respect and great wishes from us here in Norway.

My top 3 from latest to oldest: Seiko SBGA413 aka the Shunbun with the pink dial, bought on my first trip to Japan with the family last year. Marathon GSAR grey maple, gift from my parents reminding me of my Canadian heritage. Tudor BB58, bought with my wife while traveling Europe. All of them have special meaning. Been obsessing over a Explorer too and I think that one should be for my 50th bday too.

Ah man, there's something about tool watches that just makes me happy. I've also got a Marathon CSAR, and it's indestructible. The grail for me is the Sinn UX, simply because it's so hilariously overbuilt. 5,000m diving depth is utterly useless to me, but man is it cool.
