Earlier this month, an Ohio councilman was pulled over after he was caught allegedly nodding off behind the wheel of his truck. When Lorain officers made contact with Anthony Dimacchia, police say he was “staring off into space.” Dimacchia pleaded not guilty to OVI and refusing to submit for OVI testing.

NO towing of his vehicle & having that financial hardship as well like any other citizen WOULD have!!!!! 🙄 DIDN'T have to sit in a cell for 8 to 12 hours BEFORE being released like every other citizen to "sober" up like I've seen others have to do!!!!!!! AND, the BIGGEST thing was he was NOT handcuffed while transported!!!!!!! Which I've heard EVERY officer SAY that it's POLICY for a person being arrested & transported to be handcuffed while in their car!!!!!!!!! SMDH...

He refused all field sobriety tests, and breathalyzer and blood alcohol level tests. I’m sure he will wiggle out of the charges and agree to something mild. It seems like he needs to go to treatment. He has a prior offense.

Driving without insurance, impaired, gets into an accident and they are falling over themselves to be overly helpful to him. No handcuffs, not checked for weapons before being placed in the police car, initially, when they do pat him down they let him take things out and miss pockets, he is given his phone, the truck is released to his wife, with a box of wine and who knows what else inside, and after refusing to do a sobriety test they offer to drive him home. If his wife can’t come get him…outrageous.
This is why you hear so many other people saying "Do you know who I am?". It works in some places.

If this guy wasn’t known to the officers, they’d have had him on the ground, searching him & cuffing him 🤦🏼♀️ Instead, they’re “taking his word for it” & telling him where to comfortably sit.. so he “won’t get wet or cold” … or asking if he “needed an ambulance” I’m surprised they didn’t turn their body cams off 🤦🏼♀️ geez, you gotta be kidding?

He refused to do field sobriety or submit to a breath test. He knew he was WAY over the limit. And he pleaded guilty last week to OVI.

This police department isn't doing this guy any favors in giving him special treatment that other DUI offender's normally wouldn't have. It's only going to enable his behavior because he knows that they will protect him, which will keep him from getting help until he does real damage while drinking and driving.

Pure entitled councilman right here folks. They didn't tow his truck, they didn't read him his rights, they didn't hand cuff him. They let him keep his cellphone to call his wife (who didn't seem to answer for awhile). They let him go home and if anyone else noticed. This was his second DUI.
I hope people he represents complained about this arrest. Not towing the car? He wrecked the car while drunk. I didn’t know any states allowed people to have a family member come get that vehicle. No matter how small the wreck was. Even if there was no wreck. No handcuffs?? I’m sure if there was no cameras he would’ve been allowed to go home with his wife. Leaders of the community need to be held to higher standards. So when they do stuff like this repeatedly they should be treated like a criminal not your friend.

I’ve watched so many of these where people are taken into custody because of driving under the influence and they’re NEVER treated like this guy was treated.
