My mama was born in 1949 lol. My sis 77 me 92. Now every time went out of town m sis was the dj in the car lmbo then we start off of the road my mama always would pray then tell my sister put that gospel aretha on i was like wait what lol. The whole gospel album. I miss those times Lawd. Now i let my son listen to almost everything I listened too
Soulful James and Aretha’s voices blended well together and through out her career span she often spoke of him with much respect no one can’t top this version of this song RIP to both of them

James insisted on perfection. His groups and the choirs he worked with stayed on point with easily identified crisp harmonies and original to Cleveland arrangements. He changed personnel often but the finest version of The Cleveland Singers included Clyde, Odessa, Roger, and Charles.

THIS song reminds me of sitting in a cramped hot store front church-as a little girl- crying, because it is a beautiful song. Rise in Power Queen Aretha-we have lost a ICON. Her voice , her SOUL can never be matched. When she sat at that piano-you knew it was about to go down and the house was about to turn all the way up.

This recording of prescious memories is a one- off, never to be repeated moment in time.......one of those times when the spirit moves in suddenly and sucks everyones breath away for a minute...and your arm hairs stand up.....I have experienced this several times...first time in a prayer circle in jail, another time in 1992 during praise and worship at church on the rock.

After viewing Aretha's movie last evening, I decided to listen to her, James Cleveland and others like them this morning. God I miss this kind of singing and church service. I still can't conform to this modern style, just have to endure. I agree with Kaye Palmer-Dilworth's post.
