One of the best gospel albums ever and she belts it flawlessly
She carried the entire history of the Black experience in her voice.
From crying to yelling to whispering to shouts of joy, she could take and transport you back to the dark days of slavery and beyond.
Her phrasing carried the guttural sounds of pain and suffering as each part of the song flowed through her throat and was delivered to her audience with cruel honesty and compassion.
She grew in her commitment to her Creator, and the many interviews that she gave, always contained answers that could only come from a warrior for Christ and her convictions and faith made many an interviewer uncomfortable.
Her journey was filled with great accolades and I’m sure inner conflicts, like all of us, but she kept the faith and persevered until Christ took her home.
I play her music only when I’m alone.

i am so upset that they were not able to capture this song in its entitrety. its singlhandedly is a symposium in black praise and storytelling The beauty of this film is that you can see the building of these arrangments and how to properly recording a live gospel record. In this filmher genius is prominent. she is prise, professional and open. its a hard task, but she does this remaining grounded. Her posture and praise is live record sing 101. A true master. Wow.
She re-recorded those missing climatic parts of the song you are referring to in studio. Thats why their not in the film. They were Not live. The lazarus lazarus lazarus climax being one. Its there in the book about the making of the album. The book is also titled amazing grace

She recorded those "Lazarus" vocals in a recording studio after the live sessions. Actually, a few songs had recorded ad-libs added to them.
@@anjelheaven I know she did on “Wholy Holy” and “Old Landmark” but she did those “Lazarus” calls live. You can even hear the crowd in the background telling her to “call him”! They cut out stuff from “Never Grow Old” and some other songs as well.
@@noreneal7252 I read the book on the making of the album and they were added in the recording studio. The choirs ad-libs during that section were too!
When I saw this film I was soooooo upset they chopped this up.
