That’s the good old Peugeot DW12, 2.2 hdi engine. They are great. I have it in my Peugeot 407sw xs170, twin turbo. It’s a proper motorway mile munching engine, quick too, especially in the lighter Peugeot. 5000 mile oil changes with the proper 5w30 Total ineo ECS oil is key. I can’t tell you how long I partied for when I found the glow plugs I had to change were at the front of the head and not the back….😂. Thanks for another great video Baz.
@@timbo19751975 Thanks for your reply, i do appreciate it. So does that make a 2.2 Peugeot Boxer or a 2.2 Citroen Relay a worthwile buy? (I'm after a new van) I have read that their gearboxes can be a bit iffy. Is that still the case?
Hi Baz. Another great video from you, any good reason why you do not use Gates belts, also would it be possible to remove and fit new glow plugs without removing the manifold a the SD4 engine.
Good job! The old engine had rod knock, uncle Rodney was passing by :), was that because of driving without checking the oil, so low oilpressure led to catastrophic enginefailure?
Running it without oil….some owners really are stupid. An enormous bill I expect even with a replacement engine. At 108K miles it did well to run up to that mileage without proper care.
@@PTRsTransport I'd love to but unfortunately it's the internet and no doubt it would turn into a debate on someone can do it quicker or ect. Hope you understand... The less drama the better
Hi I’m looking for some info if you can help please . Right Vw convertible 2015 1600cc diesel engine code cayc . Driving along car in limp mode engine management light on pulled over and then my mate decided to carry on driving 3 miles back to his house , called me put a scann tool on the car injector 1 down , so I asked what happened and I could not believe he drove 3 miles with the car like that . Put a new aftermarket injector in coded it and started fine running fine 5 mins later I could hear a tapping on the engine . So what I’m asking is how to tell if it’s top end or really bad lower end . Injector down drove it 3 miles what damage could be done . I know it’s hard to say but just give me ur best guess. . Regards
If it's the 1.6 the caves are all your injectors are gone down because of the fuel pump. Check the fuel filter and high pressure pump for swarf under the sensor. Any metal will continue to damage your injectors and they will all fail. I strip the injectors and clean them along with the fuel rails and pipes aswell as changing the pump obviously and anything in the tank
@@jlmmotorcarsales2373 thanks I’ll take a look at that , the only thing is the car starts and runs ok . There is a very very small miss and the tapping noise. Many thanks again .
@@cliffperry8470 Deep noise like an injector knock? High end tap won't be caused by the fuel system, but injector knock will still allow it to run fine. Quick 5 minute check to rule out the fuel pump. Literally a T25 socket and the fuel filter and the pressure sensor on top of the pump will just pull straight out. If it was in my garage I would check that before anything as I do so many of them
Don't know why people question your seat belt procedure. Because you're obviously in a small minority now of people that don't moan and cry about jobs. But just carry them out to a high standard! Baz your a commensurate professional, this is what customer service looks like. Take a bow.
Cheers buddy 🤙
Baz, you are a bloody genius 👍
2, 3, 4 days Labour and a 2nd hand engine plus additional Clutch and extras, what was the final £Bill? Was the decade old LR worth saving??
If you were crazy enough to do this on your back...Would you go out over the top or take the bumper off?
This channel doesn't get the credit it deserves 🙌
great job baz!!!!! you are a top tech!!! the 2nd hand engine just wondered what miles it had done?

Is this 2.2 engine the same one that is currently fitted into Peugeot Boxer vans?
@@PTRsTransport basicaly yes. Some updates, different fuel system, after treatment etc, but yes its the old DW12 !

Trouble in the evoque is the dpfs are crap and dilute oil with failed regenerations

Congratulations on the craftsmanship!!
that baz waz outstanding great work and great content
brilliant video so much to do is that a scrap yard you have changed in the past
good job Baz , nice one
Good luck with 2nd hand engine.. 👍🏻👍🏻 hope no boomerang.. !
It's a JLR. It won't be long until it's back.
Did you have to reprogram the original ECU to the replacement engine Baz?
Is that the 2.2? Same engine as FL2, pretty strong if looked after properly unlike that one 🤦🏼♂️ Top job.
Peugeot DW12 iirc
Excellent job baz mine kinda job I love doing big work like this. What was the cause of the original engine failure
No oil buddy
Hey, Baz, what is the pay rate for this kind of job in England?
Good job! The old engine had rod knock, uncle Rodney was passing by :), was that because of driving without checking the oil, so low oilpressure led to catastrophic enginefailure?
Yes no oil
These Peugeot dw10/12 engines are usually bulletproof
Awesome 👍
Rough price for this kinda job ?
Good job done Baz, did you have to code the injector’s
No
Nice and hard work 💪👍
Worth putting a new clutch on it with the motor out?
It's all down to cost
How long do you think that took Baz? In labour hours?
2.5 days
Customer: "Oil? ..... I thought it ran on Diesel !"🤔🤔😁😁😂😂
The Engine was afraid of you so it ran , it didnt want you to push it in 😂😂
I honestly thought mistakenly that it was the ingenium engine not the usually reliable 2.2 Peugeot hdi unit. 😅
Wow, wouldn't want that bill!

8:31 reg exposed there 😅😂 had to check the mot history lol
