Saves a lot of money getting thumb drives for everything you need to try or have to install. Also, the ability to boot various distros from a single larger thumb drive is great for troubleshooting or testing to see if the hardware is compatible for the distro you want to use. The great thing is being able to replace isos whenever you want, for upgrades, etc. Also, as someone else mentioned, using a USB drive enclosure with an SSD drive eliminates the problem of keeping up with a thumb drive.

Great video.. i support mostly windows.. this would be great to put on windows 10/11 install isos as well as hirens onto a single USB.. right now i have a bag a flash drives and this will help me use much less flash drives. Also, i am a late comer into the Linux world. I just wanted to say thanks for your videos.. you and a few other RUclipsrs have helped regain an enthusiasm i have not had for IT in a while. I have Linux growing everywhere on my network thanks to you guys!!! :)

Good review. I had already made a ventoy usb with Mint and Win 7, to repair a friends computer a couple of months ago. It is a perhaps more refined implementation of the PenLinux I had used years before.

Indeed. I'd love to figure out if there's a way to setup some persistent data storage, so I could build up my windows cleaning Linux ISO tool again. I did that for years for people who's systems would get so junked up they couldn't use it anymore. Boot into Linux, clean up their windows install, and hand it back running better than ever.

Ventoy is an amazing tool, I also like how easy it is to upgrade w/o losing existing config/isos. I use and old SSD in a USB enclosure and store all my ISOs on it. Fast too.

    Again a nice explanatory video.
A sugggestion on this would be a video about an PXE / boot / tftp server in docker (for example netbootxyz) that you can spinup at moments when someone needs it. So that it doesn't interfere with an existing DHCP or networksetup.

😂 oh my god - this tool saved my life. I had installed Rocky Linux on all my computers and wanted to switch back to Windows, but it wouldn’t work! Mostly a drive formatting problem. I tried everything, but then I found this video and tried Ventoy and it worked. Now I have a thriving fleet Windows machines joined to an AD/DS domain and I just love it! Thanks so much for this amazing video!!

Ventoy is even more powerful when you start using the plugins as well. You can use the ventoy live iso to setup another usb thumb drive as a ventoy drive too.

Btw, I have not seen anyone using something this way. Once you start using it, you will not go back. 🤞You can update guide outlining this way as well.
I suggest to give it a try. Only downside is during update, we have to boot from another disk (can be pendrive). I live boot any linux iso from pendrive and update ventoy on my ssd.

    • @donaldwilliams6821

@@sanjeev2003 I put it on an external SSD almost from when I first started using it. More than a year ago now.. Great way to re-use old SSDs or even spinning drives for that matter in a cheap USB external case. All my recovery ISOs, WIndows, Linux, VMware, Proxmox and rescue ISOs like rescuezilla and Acronis TrueImage are there whenever needed. And fast too. Updates to ventoy are easy that way too.

I've tried using Ventoy. When I boot from the Ventoy USB drive, I see a list of the .ISO files that I have added to the drive, but I can't navigate the list with either my keyboard or mouse, both of which are wirelessly connected to my PC. Is this normal?

    • @AwesomeOpenSource

I just installed some partition tool on my usb stick via ventoy. When i boot into them, hard drives on my pc didnt appear, it just listed my usb. I don't know if it's ventoy or my pc's fault. Any idea ? Thank you a lot

    • @AwesomeOpenSource

So, depending on what tools, and how they read the drives, and what OS you are running on yoru PC normally, and whether you shut it down properly based on that OS, and several other factors could be at play.
I recently booted into Ubuntu to move files to a Windows 10 drive from a backup that could only be read by Linux. I first had to shutdown the windows 10 system by holding down the Shift key while clicking Shutdown.
When I get into the Ubuntu system, and opened the Files application, I had to navigate to Other, then click on System, then find the right partition for the data.
