    Why the f*ck's every1 complaining about the RSR looking like a prototype? This thing's made to be fast not look like a default 911. It's a sexy beast looking like a Porsche 911 with a sexy and big diffusor.

    • @dln.sweeney
      @dln.sweeney 6 лет назад +1

      They're complaining more about the fact that the drivetrain layout is completely different to the car it's supposed to be based on. Many feel this goes against the basis of what a GT race car should be.

    That was one of the best tech tours Ive ever seen but with so many technically proficient team members why do they insist on getting the drivers to do these media things? Drivers know so little about tech these days and racing is a team sport. Oh well......good luck Porsche and the rest of the competitors.

      I agree with your entire comment except the first part. A technician would have given a much more thorough interview and description. If you can ever find a dedicated team member to talk to at the race, they will be much more thorough than this guy. Still, something is better than nothing. Glad I got a chance to see the tour

      I'd imagine because the driver's are the face of the team/company. They are spokespeople as well as driver's. Just like what Webber has graduated to. So the team wants them in front of the camera and fans as much as possible.

    That is an amazing in depth look at the engineering and technology that goes into the Porsche race cars. Just stunning and great job by mr. Estre. Can't wait for Daytona. The new car has huge shoes to fill and knowing this is the first race we probably can't expect the moon. But here's to wishing. Reliability, constant pace, staying within striking distance, and above all no incidents or mistakes. I believe it could be a Porsche 1,2.

    • @dutchtraxxrc3079

    • @ralphaverill2001
      @ralphaverill2001 7 лет назад +1

      Thank you Dutch, Hans, and AJ. I get what you're saying. I have to think, however, that if the mid-engine 911 does better in competition than the traditional 911, isn't that a demonstration that mid is better than rear? Doesn't Porsche, more than everyone else except maybe Ferrari, market their car as pure race-tested performance?
      Anyway, I'll be watching and will get close when the show comes up to Lime Rock, my home track.
      Thanks again for responding to my post.

    • @0611930024838
      @0611930024838 7 лет назад +2

      Ralph Averill it's because of the rules in the series specifically that the car is like that. The engine position is just weight distribution. Porsche has gotten really good with having an engine strapped behind the rear axle, as the traditional 911 is one of the best handling sports cars , and they market their rear engine thing well, but really no space for a big diffuser.... they are allowing much more downforce now, before they just had a big wing but now they need the space

    I guess the normal 911 has that rear engine layout to allow small seats in the back but obviously dont need that in the RSR. Plus like he said in the video it allows them to use a bigger diffuser. Still strange though to see a 911 with a mid-engine layout but this car sounds so damn good i dont really care

    So there is no rear window or rear view mirror. What happens when the rear view camera is inevitably damaged or if the electronics malfunction? Do IMSA rules mandate that the driver must immediately pit for a new camera or park the car if they can't find/fix the electrical problem? I get that you really have no rear view from the prototype cars, but they're constantly passing, not being passed. Seems like a solution in search of a problem.

    • @blankfiile

      The engine was mostly moved for aero reasons - having that large diffuser helps tremendously for downforce.. Wasn't an option with the previous engine. THe weight distro on typical "rear" engined Porsches is about 39/61 as opposed to the ideal 40/60.

      They understood the retardness of the rear engine positioning, which didn't allowed a good mass distribution and didn't allowed for advanced aerodynamics to stick the car to the ground. Since the rules specify that the race car needs to be more or less similar like the road car, they had no other option than to bitch and moan to FIA to let them move the engine in the proper position, ignoring the fact that they are bending the rules and trampling all over their crap tradition with the engine in the wrong position. For whatever reason, Ferrari and the others indulged and allowed them to turn the car intro Gayman RSR. Shameful display of useless stubbornness, and leniency from Ferrari and the others.

    They put the engine where it should be, porsche should dump the back seat and make the 911 a typical mid engine design.

    Very nice car, but with all of the buttons, not seeing the engine anymore, the internal conveniences...This is not really racing anymore. I think the car is boring, and the racing is becoming boring as well.

    come on Porsche. How could you call a mid engine car 911? It is a 718. And please make 718 as good as 911, I'll totally buy it.

    So it's a widebody GT4 smh...... fucking porsche just won't admit that they proved (better than anyone) that the rear engine format is plain stupid.

      um. No....i doubt it shares 1 individual part with the gt4. It's a purpose built prototype race car. with a 911 shape for marketing.
