As an absolute Porsche fan, I would like to compliment you on what is by far the most awesome video about the decades of the 911. Really an extremely good compilation in which every model series is appreciated. Many, many thanks from a real motorsport fan! Hats off!
Magnifique! Les images sont belle, les Porsche sont magnifique et les sons de ces moteurs, sous différentes générations sont juste hypnotique. Merci pour cette belle vidéo !
The RSR´S , The most amazing GT cars in the entire WorlGTd!|Amazing sound too! There is anything in the GT motorsport like the Porsche sound! Stay safe!
Why does the engine have that chop during constant RPM at 8:30? My sport bike does the same thing and I was curious as to the technical reason behind it. A quick google search mentioned cam overlap? Would that be it? Is it simply extra fuel in the exhaust creating a burble sound?
cak5171 Yeah that’s the 991.2 center exhaust spec, it is in the video and has raced all that time in WEC too. The side exhaust version makes its American/IMSA debut at Daytona in January, but I’ll miss the old sound. Got to see it for its last race in Atlanta in the Coca Cola livery
I love the sounds, at most the 991 mid exhaust. But a bit sad, that the 964 and 993 didn't have some proper race engines. Not even close to 100 hp/l. '74 RSR had 110 hp/l back then and were fucking light also. Impressive!
This is probably a really dumb question, but why can't F1 cars sound like the 2017 RSR? It's not a screaming V10, but I'll be damned if it's not one of the best sounding cars I've ever heard.
This is alot like VisioRacer's channel. I absolutely LOVE all of these 911s. They are all gorgeous but that 996 is like the slightly trashy girl you dated that one time, still alot of fun but wouldn't take home to your mom.
A boxer engine is also called a "flat" engine. There also 180° V12 engines which are also called "flat v12". The difference is how the pistons move in the engine. In a V-shape engine they move in the same direction and in a Boxer the move in opposing directions.
I know Porsche wants to be more innovative with their 6 cylinder engine but... the flat-6 just a Crown jewel. Everyone wants to go V6 & slaps some turbos. Most of the desired audience doesn't care about the fastest lap, we care about sounds. All that is becoming an afterthought. Unfortunate.
Love the RSR but 991 and later versions are just not good looking cars anymore. And the latest version should now have the Cayman name since it is no longer a 911. Awesome sound though on the last version but miss the Porsche flat six sound
I as you love the RSR but the 911 as you know has always been rear engined. Porsche has done everything in their power to keep it their flagship sports car. Its layout has its limits which is why they now moved to a midengined setup. It is just my opinion and I just dont see how Porsche will keep its 911 badge on a car with a midengine and no rearseat? I mean the RSR has always been the 911s full race version based on the roadcar. So why not let the Cayman be all it can be? Cant see the rubbish in that?
@@Belgian-Motorsport well, tbf, I thought that the early 911s used a Boxer 6 but the more modern ones had switched over to a 180° V6 AKA Flat 6 :) since a Boxer 6 is a Flat 6 but a Flat 6 isn't a Boxer 6.(the boxer engine has offset facing pistons) I guess that the appellation "Flat 6" on most social medias induced me in confusion :)
@@togera77 I think you're getting this wrong. A flat horizontally opposed engine is either a boxer engine with pistons on individual crank pins or a 180° V engine with pairs of cylinders on shared crank pins each. They're all "flat". No series 911 uses a V engine design (and in German the term "flat engine" doesn't even exist. It's either a Boxer, or in case of the 917 a 180° V).
@@JMartinni there's one thing that you're mistaking: the 180° V6 has perfectly aligned facing cylinders. meaning that you can put a big rod in one of the cylinders(no cranckshaft in the way) and it can easylt pass through the opposite cylinder. the Boxer engines, on the other hand, has offsetted opposing cylinders. meaning that they're not really aligned. a bit like the VR6 engine on the VW Golf. and the fact that the 911's engine is commonly called Flat 6 instead of Boxer 6 induced me in error. to a fair comparison, the Subaru engine is commonly called Boxer 4 and not Flat 4 :)
@UCTjfWufMh_8tul8NCdApBqg are they? well, I guess that the education system in belgium is that shitty lol I didn't knew that. I always saw V engines cylinders aligned and boxer engines cylinders offset

There will be no better sound from a Porsche than this Porsche right here 14:54
Steven Gersch yes it does. Such a shame 😩
I don't know......917 and Carrera GT do also exist................
yes u are right! this side exaust ist that shity and sounds in a fight with the 2017 model like a carrera spider streetmodel.
And at 9:32
Yup 991.2 w/center exhaust. This is the way an NA Porsche should sound!

As a diehard Porsche fan, this video is now my fave that you've done :). As always thank you for all the uploads you post for us all to enjoy.
As a lifelong "PORSCHE" obsessive, you have just made my day with this video. I was having a bad day until I watched this, I now feel a lot better !!
No words, absolute amazing that you did this video. Have a wonderful weekend :D
Thanks for the astounding video! The collection of classic liveries, sounds and shapes made me feel emotional. Absolutely amazing!
A piece of art!
Thank you so much
Fantastic video! Thank you so much! :)

BM, thank you for this. Just beautiful Porsches😍 for 17mins! - Cheers🍻
That last Porsche in black, Ohmy😱💙
This video is perfection :)
Thanks for sharing
Merci pour cette rétrospective sur les differrentes Porsche 911.
Gold!
I will say it again, you are doing fantastic work.Especially warm up,close up,pits etc...
10:52 - 10:58 it morphed from a 996 sound to a 991 sound
strange artefacts of sound waves bouncing off surfaces.
Yeah you’re right, that’s insane. Great catch!
Great stuff! For me, the early ones are still the best. What a sound! The pure duckwing car's sound and the brutal whaletail RSR....merry Christmas!
The 73-77 RSR were hands down the best sounding non-turbo 911s. Bar none.
Nice sounds man love it.

996 and 997 will always be my favorite.
GOTTS'TA love the guy who VERY politely turned on his right turn ibdicator!!!!!!!!
Great video
The downshifts on the 996 rsr omg lovely
Wow danke schön:) Thank you ;)

1:27 probably the longest shift I have ever heard
Making sure he is in the right gear😄
Merci j adore les porsches
Gorgeous!!!!
And the clear winner......991.2 with center exhaust. 🤤🤤🤤
Longhood RSR’s are 2.8 not 3.0 / this was introduced in 1974, G body RSR’s, which IROC cars were based on.
Super video ...makes me want to jump in my Sim-Rig and go race these babies in VR ;-)
Yukos 996 on a thumbnail just warms a heart of russian motorsport fan xD
16:04 video ends here
16:30 wow this one really sounds different.
almost like an alfa romeo giulia 2.6 V6
2018 991.2 rsr or 2019 version with the side exhaust? I honestly prefer the new one as it reminds me of the 997
997 GT3 RSR 😍❤
Yes but the IMSA spec 911 RSR is ear splitting! I've seen it a tracks in America for the last 5 years, and it is a screaming banshee of wonderfulness.

Its a long long story 💕

2004 996 GT3 RSR 💗
0:49 is he spraying petrol?
why?
Fuel or starting fluid sprayed into the carburetors to prevent wear when starting up the cold engine, I suppose.
Amazing !!!!!!!!
nice sound
8:10 GTR2 flashbacks
Yeah. Great game 👌
So awesome
Which is your favourite? For me it’s the 996 RSR, the right mixture of speed, sound and street car looks.
I still prefer the 996 RSR aswell.
There's just something special about how it sounds.
Same the 996 rsr
Why have I never heard of the 964 RSR??
Herbert von Karajan aurait aimé la mélodie des dernières RSR. 👍🏻
Now matter how powerful they got, or how sophisticated, they were just VW Beetles underneath. They're lovable in a way other supercars aren't.
Didn't the 996 GT3 RSR have a 4.0 engine?
340hp and weighs less then 2,000 pounds that sounds absolutely terrifying
This is probably a really dumb question, but why can't F1 cars sound like the 2017 RSR? It's not a screaming V10, but I'll be damned if it's not one of the best sounding cars I've ever heard.
The turbos muffle a ton of noise.
14:54 R.I.P
Is 2019 version was use electric ?
No, same engine as the 2018 car but side exhaust.
@@Belgian-Motorsport thanks for info... 😅
The first ones are 2.8 RSR with 300 HP, not the 3.0 RSR. Look at their wheelarches
They silver Martini car in the beginning is actually a 3.0 RSR. It's from the Porsche museum.
Apparently they made 2 versions in 1973. The 2.8 and 3.0
❤❤❤
911 ❤
73RSR 3.0 enjine ?
yes, there was also a 2.8 RSR
great!
I didn't know that
where is the historical content?
2017 rsr is just the best by miles

So are they Boxer or Flat engine layouts? There is a distinct difference right?
all porsche 911s use 6 cylinder boxer engines
A boxer engine is also called a "flat" engine.
There also 180° V12 engines which are also called "flat v12".
The difference is how the pistons move in the engine.
In a V-shape engine they move in the same direction and in a Boxer the move in opposing directions.
...930 series?
To my knowledge there never was a 930 RSR.
I know Porsche wants to be more innovative with their 6 cylinder engine but... the flat-6 just a Crown jewel. Everyone wants to go V6 & slaps some turbos.

Bullshit, no history given in this video, click bait. Thumbs down
One thumbs down, from Ferrari I'd guess?
Racer 294 someone who thought the thumb down is the download button I suppose😂
Why people hate the new rare sound?
It sounds gross. 991.2 center exhaust all the way!
