One thing that always amused me about the novel is just how often Grant and the kids, trying to make their way back to the Visitor's Center and civilization, keeps passing by people that could have helped them, without either party realizing it. This scene is another great example of this -- the Rex's attention wasn't on the microceratopsians in the treetops, but on Grant and the kids floating by in a raft.
Same here. It also amused me how often the characters could have discovered Nedry, but then something comes up. When Nedry was JUST LEAVING the Visitor Center, Muldoon happened to be looking out the window, but then Arnold has a temper tantrum and Muldoon turns away, missing the Jeep Nedry stole. And then when Harding, Elli and Gennaro were following the compies that were going towards Nedry's corpse, Arnold radios them to get back to base. 😹
"Clever Girl". Robert Muldoon will forever live on in our memories. Still that scene in the book was a real page turner. Almost makes me wish it was in the movie.
Another thing I loved about this scene in the book -- at least the part where they find Nedry -- is how it contrasts with the part where they find all that's left of Regis. When they find Regis' leg, Muldoon states that "I guess we better bring this along. Doesn't seem right to leave it here." He gets Gennaro to look in the Jeep for something to wrap it in, and the two end up putting it in a tarp. When they find Nedry, Muldoon steps over the body without seeming to think about it, gets what he wants out of Nedry's wrecked Jeep, and leaves without a care. "Let's go." "What about him?" Gennaro asks, indicating Nedry's body. "What about him?" Muldoon replies. "We've got things to do." Both hop back into their Jeep and leave, and Gennaro looks back to see compys resume feeding on the body.

I have a double sentiment to this. On one end I'd love to see a Jurassic Park movie portraying the novel as accurate as possible (no character/scene cuts). A remake if you will. On the other end I feel that such a remake might do a disservice to the already amazing movie, as if it would implicate the original movie wasn't good enough. Besides, no-one can portray the characters as good as the original cast. No John Hammond without sir Richard Attenborough. No Alan Grant without Sam Neill. No Ian Malcom without Jeff Goldblum. No Muldoon without Bob Peck. It'll be nigh impossible to replicate that quality of cast and acting.
Oh what if it was animated movie like the robot one on netflix pick a style of the actors get ppl who sound like the actors who has passed away? I really want to see the rex hunting rpg vs rexy XD
I would love a new Jurassic Park movie as faithful to the novel as possible and that would not exclude 1993, as it would continue to exist and pass the magic that passes and would always remain in our memories. There are a lot of good actors, it's not just the actors from Jurassic Park 1993 who are the best. Jurassic World is a reboot of Jurassic Park that is masquerading as a sequel, and everyone loved and accepted the movie and loved it from 1993; is a continuation, but it is a fact that the plot imitates the plot of Jurassic Park, and even more so in Fallen Kingdom and The Lost World, where the plot of both are even more similar than the plots of Jurassic World and Jurassic Park.
Considering how different some of the characters were in the book, it could still work fine with new actors. John Hammond at least would be easy to recast, since his character came across as very unsympathetic. He cared less that people were dying than about how he was wanting to try again on another island.
I had seen the movie several times. And when I read the book I was thoroughly shocked how different the two were. As an example to others who haven't it's like this: If you watched Harry potter then read the books. It's already been spoiled for you. If you watched Jurassic park and then read the books. It's almost a new story with many surprises.
I always felt It would have been more in character for Muldoon to have secreted one of his double rifles to the island broken down into concealable parts. Seeing as he had secreted the the explosives in his office. It always seemed abit dumb that in the book They Lawyer has the ammo and Muldoon has the Launcher. But In the lost world movie I think it would have been a good twist for Rowland Tembo To have actually Blasted the Male Rex dead with his double rifle, And then felt remorse for his kill and Darted the she-rex instead.

I don't know why people insist the movie is SUPER different from the book. I was scrolling through the comments and noticed people already disagreeing with your statement. Sure, a lot of scenes were excluded, but the scenes that were kept were fairly faithful. Now, The Lost World novel vs the film is a different story lol.
The first film is pretty much a streamline version of the book with every major part of the plot being used with only minor action sequences deleted or characters merged. The second book is radically different from its counterpart but all in all the first film was a pretty accurate adaptation as novels go. Not sure why people don't think it is
Yeah, the only thing the second movie kept from the book was certain lines of dialogue, SOME of the characters, the trailer scene and the idea of two groups on the island, one to do research and the other to steal something from the island (book was dino eggs, movie was whole dinos). While we're on the subject, I like how they combined Arby and Kelly to make one child in the movie.
Happy I found this channel! Ever since I saw Jurassic Park in 1993 I've been obsessed with the franchise! Great to find a fellow JP nerd 🤓! Jurassic Park was pretty much our generations Star Wars.
You know I've always been disappointed by Muldoons death. In the book, and in the movie, he was one of the most switched on characters. Plus brought to life in a compelling way by Bob Peck. It actually bugs me to this day (if you'd believe it) and I'd love to know the logic behind opting to kill this character in such a way. I do wonder if it had to do with him being diagnosed with cancer around the time too.
Since reading the book I always had a feeling that Roland Tembo was an idealised version of the literary Muldoon. Both absolutely stoic in the face of danger but always calculated when hunting the T-Rex. Their presecne really added much to the story. As always, incredible video and I appreciate the topics that you always find to go in depth and make them interesting.

Good video. But a lack of weapons was something that always bothered me about these movies. You would think a .30 cal or .50 cal, let alone much heavier ordinance, would be more than enough to demolish any creature on the island.
It totally would have been. The novel reveals that Muldoon begged Hammond for weapons for ages and even threatened to quit unless he was allowed to have the rocket launcher. Hammond was always incredibly interested in keeping his dinosaurs safe and alive and, in the books anyways, valued their lives more than his staff from what I gather. The only time its bothered me in the films was in Jurassic Park 3 so far. Some people complain about The Lost World but the film always stated that they were only going in to tranquilize the creatures and take them to the mainland. There are lethal weapons used on screen, the SPAS-12 and a HK variant I believe, but those weren't used until after the group had been attacked by the Tyrannosaurus at night and the hunters were firing them while running away. Now in the third film, my God, they specifically brought Explosive rounds and fired them off at the Spinosaurus and its not hurt (I guess they didn't hit it?) but if that was the case why isn't half the jungle on fire??? Thats the one movie I always thought was a letdown after being teased with such fire power only to get snubbed.
yea a 20mm round like in JP 3 into a Spino wouldve been like you getting hit by a .45 ACP .....dead my guess is that the shots missed or went through its spine sail, ie. pissing it off to no end my questions is...the thing was hit by the plane's propellers on takeoff!!!!! yet was again...just fine...O.o
Because these movies can only happen if the humans are completely incompetent. In real life a hunter with a stick can take down an elephant, which is the same size as a T-Rex.
Kevin Collver we don't really know what the _Spinosaurus_ 's sail served the animal for, the most likely theory being that it helped to warm up the animal. Still, it's unlikely that even if it got shot there by an explosive, the animal would have suffered too much damage. There should be no important organs in that area. Sure, it would have pissed it off really bad and cause blood loss, but far from an incapacitating blow.
Klayton Fioriti It's not shown exactly what was used to shoot the _Spinosaurus._ Most likely a normal firearm rather than an explosive, because of the lack of an explosive sound. Just a couple of "bang" noises were heard. The damage it could have done to the dinosaur depends entirely on where the shots landed, if they did at all. Many people have survived shots to the head just because the projectile had missed important areas. I agree that the explosives not being used was quite a let down. The movie definitely lacks in comparison to the previous two ones, but it's still a good one. BTW, nice video, man. Subbed ;)
I need to get a copy of this book. Every time I hear you describe a scene which is unique to the book it makes me think that the book was multitudes better than the film or any of it's sequels.
Great video as always klayton, Actually there's also the scene of the waterfall appearing in the Lost worl... If you want to consider that an easter egg as well! Greetings from Italy! Looking forward for more videos like this!
Awesome video. Do you think this film could use a darker, more violent remake closer to the tone and, more importantly, content of the original book? 1. More graphics death closer to the book 2. Raft Scene 3. Carnivores smelling like rotten garbage 4. Characters closer to how they are in the book (a darker Hammond would be cool to see) Yes it sounds crazy, but there are enough things to make the remake different and more true to the source material than the original
I finally read the JP novel. So long that I’ve loved the movies, and I had never read the book. Thanks, it was due to your videos. I loved the book, I regret not reading it sooner. And I just ordered lost world novel
I just got done reading this...ALL of the adventures Grant and the children get into and this part were so tense! I really wish they would have included the entire raft sequence starting with grant sneaking the raft out of the shed and inflating it while the sleeping Rex is snoring over the corpse of a hadrosaur. God that was brilliant! They DID kind of recreate the water wall scene with the children as grant is discovering the electric car in the maintenance tunnel. I'm kind of glad they did not include the t-rex licking Tim and using his tongue like a prehensile trunk as that would have solidified the reptilian concept of the dinosaur when we now know that therapods are basically chickens and not as lizard like as they are portrayed in the book. Anyway, I've now watched ALL of your videos and I can say you do an amazing job rejuvenating the excitement from this franchise, for me atleast. Thankyou!
You stare at him and he stares right back and that’s when the attack comes not from the front but from the side the other raptors you never even knew were there
Always loved Muldoon with how level-headed he was in comparison to Hammond, Arnold, and Wu who all couldn't get their heads out of their asses about the state of the park until their lives were the ones on the line. Wish he had fared as well in the movie.
This only makes me wonder how the cinema would have done if they stuck with Critchtons story instead of Spielbergs story. To be honest rather than John Hammond being very unlikable, I do perfer the book and characters over the film version
I love how Crichton incorporates a level of suspense to make a reader literally piss themselves (a friend not me... I SAID NOT ME) I wish I could write material like this with out it being discount Michael Crichton.
After the Rex is asleep by the lake, when Timmy checks the dinosaur count there is only 1 remaining Rex, and that is the juivie Rex as seen by Hammond before he falls foes the hill and so on. So does that mean the adult Rex, drowned?! When I read the book I was amazed by how the animal moved it’s tongue around in search for Timmy and lex, scary, but chilling entertaining in a way. Even though I’m just 12, I really enjoyed the book and I am definitely going to read the sequel.
Muldoon was my favorite character in the novel, hands down. I hope during my lifetime Jurassic Park is remade as a miniseries so we can get that faithful adaptation.
Can we get videos on some of the other really cool scenes from the novels that didn't get made? I'm thinking the really cool Dilophosaur mating dance with our heroes in a grounded boat three feet downstream, someone getting spooked by a fake Rex roar, more with baby dinosaurs, et cetera? I love your vids and would love to see your coverage of those yet-to-be-adapted scenes.
I love how Chriton addressed personal questions like "Do we even know if that kind of tranq will work on a dinosaur." Stuff like that is why he was my favorite author and why the original JP books and story intrigue me.

Thats the one movie I always thought was a letdown after being teased with such fire power only to get snubbed.
yea a 20mm round like in JP 3 into a Spino wouldve been like you getting hit by a .45 ACP .....dead
my guess is that the shots missed or went through its spine sail, ie. pissing it off to no end
my questions is...the thing was hit by the plane's propellers on takeoff!!!!! yet was again...just fine...O.o
I'd love to see you do a video on the analysis and break down of Muldoon's character in the book vs film.
Nice use of the JP2: Chaos Continues music :D One of my favorite game soundtracks ever.
Klayton, i really love what you are doing with your channel. Cant get enough!
Great video as always klayton,
Actually there's also the scene of the waterfall appearing in the Lost worl... If you want to consider that an easter egg as well!
Greetings from Italy! Looking forward for more videos like this!
Thank you! Its awesome you enjoy my stuff! :D
SHOE TAR! SHOE TAR!
Literally just finished the book, like
Hype for the next comic! Please keep up the great posts
Putting the finishing touches on the comic right now! ;)
Great video as always! It would have been an awesome scene in the movie if they had included it
Awesome video. Do you think this film could use a darker, more violent remake closer to the tone and, more importantly, content of the original book?
1. More graphics death closer to the book
2. Raft Scene
3. Carnivores smelling like rotten garbage
4. Characters closer to how they are in the book (a darker Hammond would be cool to see)
Yes it sounds crazy, but there are enough things to make the remake different and more true to the source material than the original
I will be doing a video dedicated to that very soon! ;)
jonathan candelario I feel that they could make a Netflix mini-series
They could do it as a anime series like clone wars at least that is what I think
So Jurassic Park with Game of Thrones level violence?
I finally read the JP novel. So long that I’ve loved the movies, and I had never read the book. Thanks, it was due to your videos. I loved the book, I regret not reading it sooner. And I just ordered lost world novel
Your videos really do paint a great picture with the screenshots you use! Well done keep it up!
I love all ur videos on the jp franchise
Thanks! I really appreciate hearing that!
Thankyou!
Ian Klausing Thank you for all the support! I greatly appreciate it!
Your videos are Pure Jurassic Gold Buddy.
Good work.
I loved that you used the music from the old SNES game. Now I really want to get the books
Cleaver girl
*gets his throat cut and guts everywhere*
Ha ha yeah I think that might've been an accidental pun. Just too bad it wasn't very "clever".
Ready to live dangerously best line XD
I finished both books so good work
Klayton man, this channel is fantastic.
Thanks man! Really appreciate it!
This only makes me wonder how the cinema would have done if they stuck with Critchtons story instead of Spielbergs story. To be honest rather than John Hammond being very unlikable, I do perfer the book and characters over the film version
Dude I felt like I was actually in the book during the adventure. Wow good stuff
Thank you!
I can see why this wasnt in the movie, but it would have been a cool segment if it was included.
Raptor Tek right? I got chills just hearing it described. Especially the bit where the T. rex "slowly turned its head and looked at them curiously"
You are the best Jurassic park youtuber keep it up
Hold on one sec. Napalm!? Man this book is hardcore. I love it.
This was one of the coolest parts in the book
Finaly read jurassic park and am in the middle of the lost world . I gotta say the books are AMAZING
Always love your videos keep it up
Thank you!
I think I'm definitely gonna have to buy the book😂 it sounds so amazing!
A reminder of how monstrously good the book was...
This would of been awesome if they had popped it into the film great video again dude
Martyn Anderson Thank you!
Thanks for all your videos. I really enjoy! Subscribed, hope you keep this channel going strong!
Like these book videos and a very well done vid as well
mk boss Thank you!
Can't we order Wu to clone us some Richard Attenboroughs, Bob Pecks and other great actors who passed away way too early?
"Hello John!"
"Hello John"
"Hello John"
"Hello John"
Great job and early squad
Thanks!
Yeah, it drowned.
Clever Man...
This vid was amazing!! Keep it up :-)
Thank you! :)
*sighs* "Ready to live dangerously?" new motto 🙌🙌🙌
I’d like to see Robert Muldoon and Roland tembo just randomly meet, and be like, oh? You too? Small world
Awesome Video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks man!
Klayton Fioriti Anytime!
Man that was awesome keep it up :)
Thank you!
Muldoon was my favorite character in the novel, hands down. I hope during my lifetime Jurassic Park is remade as a miniseries so we can get that faithful adaptation.
He's actually alive, in the comics he survived the raptor attack
Robert: I Got Ya Where I Want Ya
Gun: The Ting Goes SKKRRRAA!!
the man died on the toilet, shitting. I really can't believe that, he followed a BADASS.
Muldoon a real mans man
I'm sorry but when I saw the thumbnail, I imagined the T-rex was like, "Eek! Humans!! Yucky!"
Totally! More to come in the future! ;)
AWESOME! You're my favorite JP-related RUclipsr, and I'm never disappointed!
I love how Chriton addressed personal questions like "Do we even know if that kind of tranq will work on a dinosaur." Stuff like that is why he was my favorite author and why the original JP books and story intrigue me.
Could you PLEASE read the entire novel like you did for that scene? That would be so epic!
In the future...it may very well happen! :)
I’m glad he is alive
More Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park please.
