I thought Dave said that when you place the task, that's when that matters, not that the tasks need to be exact during completion. But I haven't read the rules myself so I can only go on Dave's word
@@leonardostankevicius4088Page 3, column 2 of the English rule book: “Each Task marker shows a number (4, 5 or 6) that specifies exactly how many tiles (…)” (“exactly” is in bold). On page 4 you even have an example of a 5-Task Marker being returned to the box instead of placed in the Completed Task Marker area, and a counter-example of having two 6-Task Markers scoring at the same time.
Need another continued legacy style play through - I can’t see how it would ruin anyone else’s experience- it a tiling game and random not as structured as a legacy game - and people can choose not to watch it for spoilers - but the excitement of Deborah and the others as they find new rules and areas is endearing & fun to watch
They're playing it wrong. Notice at 1:02:31. They placed a village to complete the task marker 5. But the overall total of village territoy is 8. So that task marker should not be counted.
Yaaay - Great to see Dave back 🥰 This game looks amazingly fun and crazy 😄 This is a great group 🥰 Love this show - Ty ty sooo much all 🥰 Ordered the game while watching 😀
Thank you! This was great to watch. Ordered the game online 20 minutes into the play through. Like a mix of Carcassonne and Cascadia but co-op. And a campaign. Can’t wait to play it with friends!
1:05:16 I literally screamed at my screen "AAAH NO That can't go there!" - That tile she's placing, it can't go there unless you forfeit the 4 points from the task. Putting that tile there connects the task tile to the big village - which, before the tile is laid, is already 10 tiles in size and therefore too big to attach to the task. So it would have been a better idea to do what she had initially thought, and put it up top to finish the task first, THEN connect them once the task is done. Great video though, always fun to watch someone play a new game! EDIT: I feel bad for saying something now because later at at 1:26:00 they see that point, but for a different play.
oh wow - it looks like you can essentially replay the campaign or play multiple campaigns at the same time thats lovely design... no permanent changes to the game, just marking down on a disposable sheet which changes apply to this campaign and you pick up the boxes as applicable and each box has a list of stuff that belongs to it for easy sorting this is design that legacy/campaign style boardgames really need to embrace
I thought that this was an expensive game for the few bits and pieces initially but when I saw the other little boxes, it made a bit more sense. It's still not cheap but less forbidding. I like this approach to the game. It doesn't overwhelm the players with rules at the start. Thanks for the video.
This is definitely a game for my wants list. Looks to be challenging team fun, and beautifully designed. The extra packs that add new rules, tokens and cards are perfect for when you feel you've mastered the base game, giving it huge re-playability. :-)
i know this video is 5 months old but thanks i just got this game today and excited to start playing this, thanks again for your wonderful videos big fan from mexico keep up the great work, omg Linconl love your itchy and scratchy hockey jersey
I loved playing the PC game of DorfRomantik (so relaxing!) 😍So, you can imagine what a surprise it was to see this video on your channel! 🤩 I gotta say, I'm leaning more and more towards looking at this game's price so we can get it in the future 😆It being a cooperative game and having the option to play different "campaigns" with different groups gives it a very big replayability! I'm gonna add it to our wishlist right now 🏃 Loved the video! Keep up the great work 😁
Nice to see Dave using the word "fewer" in the correct plural context, rather than the ubiquitous "less" that's so often used incorrectly. Bonus point to Dave! ;)
That "less" is incorrect in these contexts is a common myth, similar to 'don't end a sentence with a preposition.' Both of these myths have no historical or linguistic basis. The use of 'less' in sentences like 'I have less cows than you do' has been correct, established usage in English for over a thousand years since the time of Old English.
Rules police. You guys did awesome game one, as far as I could see, you didn't miss-score any groupings, but in your second game, you seemed to forget the rules. With the city score, you scored the 5 & 6 together with one placement which created 6 interconnected tiles (which is one too many to score the 5)...later, you connected a 5 to that huge group of city tiles and again scored it, when it should have been removed for being over the limit...and again later still with another 4...it sure is easy to score a huge city when you forget the rule about scoring nothing for being over the target number hehe. Cracks me up. Four of you got the rule right all game one...and all four of you forgot the rule entirely game two, haha. I do see you included a note around the Hour:25 mark about a village misplay at that point, but by then, it had already been miss-scored five times haha. That's too bad. I'm still shocked nobody remembered the rule while you were playing. Then you put a heart on a task tile. According to the rule Dave read on the rule card pre-game, the Red Heart can ONLY be placed on landscape tiles, NOT the special or task tiles. Basically, game one was perfect, but game two...needs a re-do, or a big (*).
I was SCREAMING at my screen at 38:38 for you guys to put the 5 point track adjacent to the 6 point track. Turns out and near the end of the game, that soft curved track piece would have been able to connect to the middle portion of track, completing the 5 and 6 track AND connected the right and middle section of track creating a 12 tile train track. But such is life. This game looks so fun!
I still doesnt know if its possible to get the 6 points task completed and win the 6 points with that last play, can it be 6 or more connected because I don't understand that rule, I can just go fo the land at the side and then always connect like 7 or 8 for a 4,5 or 6 task.
1:43:52 The Nintendo Switch game is fantastic. The sound design is really good, which actually makes placing tiles very satisfying. I have dozens of hours in that game. The board game seems really fun as well though… 🤔
You are too adorable and sweet for me to get mad and tilted comfortably at how unperfectly you played the game. Jokes aside you guys are amazing love the gem of a synergy. I am healing from injury and meanwhile you guys are being my lifeline to joy and fun as I watch all your videos in retrospect.
I'm yelling at the screen "No, don't put it there, you block the river/rail." As if I could change the outcome of the video. 🤣 And I love this game, it's the best thing when you need a relaxing, chill night with no stress. ❤
The computer game is great. Really chilled (I actually played it while watching the episode). Well worth playing, and it seems the board game, while a little different, captures that same feel.
I think 32:21 is an illegal tile placement, you can't place a task tile that would cause a territory, track, or stream to consist of more tiles at the moment you place it than the current task marker requires.
Hmm... I thought you could place a task like this and forfeit scoring it, but it looks like you might be right. I will say that the rules, though simple, were somewhat... uh... "muddy." (Maybe the German rules are clearer) This section: "You are allowed to place a tile in a territory, Track, or Stream that now contains more tiles than any Task marker that is already in place requires. In this case, you must remove the Task marker and return it to the box." I conflated this with the other section. If it had read "You are allowed to place a [LANDSCAPE] tile in a territory..." that would have hammered it home for me.
@@davidarnott4850 yeah, the German rules are clearer in that regard. You can't place a task tile in a way that scoring would be forfeit immediately, but on a later tile placement you can forfeit scoring by cutting a region off or by expanding beyond scoring value.
Are the components in the unlocked boxes all marked so you can reset the campaign for a different play group? (I’m guessing that they are, but thought I would ask someone who owns the game). Looks like a lot of fun!
@@robertnagai5149it lists what is in each box so you can reset it, pretty sure I saw on BGG someone had also put a list together to make it even easier to reset.

I've recently played the digital one, so I'm intrigued on how this plays on TT. both have the same fun! and similar gameplay, love it. The digital one have sub-objective; where you close (surrounds) certain tiles, or extends (reach out) to a certain far tile, and the game keep adding tiles when you score the objectives, but TT one is more fun to decide and cooperate
watching that crazy Dave and Deborah moment at minute 1:08:10 and I'm like "look at these maniacs.. 🙄" to immediately be also like "I wish I had board game friends like these guys 😔" *sigh*
This game looks so fun and puzzley. Question though... in the second game did they score for the first 3 village tasks even though the village was larger than the task number?
You cannot score tasks with a number larger than the task tile, so if they did that’s a rule break that was missed. You also by my reading of the rules can’t place task tiles in a way that makes them immediately discarded, you can only cut them off with landscape tiles. I think they considered doing that a lot in this play-through as well which is also a rule break
I know you don't do repeated game plays, maybe with some exceptions, but if you put "spoilers" in the title and in the video etc. you could keep uploading your plays and the people who want to watch will. You all make it fun. Thanks for the upload.
Was wondering how much the campaign is replayable? Do the tiles from the boxes have a certain indication to which box they belong? I mean, is it possible to start over and find the exact tiles that were in the boxes and put them back again so there is the feeling of new campaign with new group?
According to how I understand it: When the task says "6", it has to have exactly 6 to be completed. 7+ makes it impossible to complete since you can't remove tiles.
It looks interesting, but I can't help but feel that it's a single player game expanded to 4 players. OK, yes you get to be sociable, but there's really no player interaction apart from deciding where pieces go, but that can be done on your own. It's a conversation starter :) I enjoyed the video thanks.
If you look it from the other angle of what you said, the entire game is player interaction. And the BGG crew made a lot of changes to their decisions based on what other people in the group said. It just depends on the people you play with. Games like this suffer with alpha players, but I usually don't like to play with people who try to make all the decisions in co-op games anyway.
The way the placement rules are written in the instructions is confusing to me. I believe this is a correct distillation: Tiles may be placed edge to edge however you like! Except… 1. You can’t connect a stream edge with a non-stream edge, or a track edge with a non-track edge. 2. You can’t place a task tile in a way that makes it impossible to complete. For example, such that its task territory is now greater than its number, or is now less than its number and closed off. If you later make a prior task impossible, remove that task from the game. Thanks for the video! I like seeing that it's possible to play this with more than 2 and not alpha/quarterback too much.

59:40 Wrong scoring over here. You can't score the 5 village Task, because you connected the tile making it an immediate 6 tile village.
1:02:37, 1:05:25 Same scoring mistake. The village is way bigger than 5 tiles. To score a task, you have to have the exact size not a bigger one.
