9 minutes into actual game play and I am hooked. This game has been on my radar for a few months now and seems like something I can play with the family and my gamer group.
It's a great game :) I play it solo, and it's still very lovely! It gives you a puzzly element, as you're thinking about a few turns ahead, but then the luck of the decks can change your planning. But with these adorable dragons and theme, it feels peaceful yet still quite enjoyable. Hope you enjoy if you do add to your collection! :)
What an "enchanting" game! I'm going to have to "gather" together sufficient pounds and pennies to buy it. What a great game you showed us this time guys. I was really interested from very early into the game, but when near the end, Nikki said she had a Dragon named Toasty, that was it confirmed, I have to get it. Great video as always, really enjoyed it and thanks for posting. PS: Lincoln, I don't live in the US and never thought Dallas would get ice storms. ICE STORMS... in TEXAS!????? 😮😮😮😮😮😮
Near the end, Lincoln filled in 'Hello Nursery' (at 1:22:15) but you didn't open a new shop! (As you said they could go on the ends and there were two cards left. Yeah, real end Gabby opened a shop, so that was a mistake back then...) Displacer Beast is a D&D monster.
At the end of the game, it seems like it would be worthwhile to swap some of those potion dragons for leaf ones. You'd be able to dump a few excess resources for a few points that way. Great playthrough!
just got this games for xmas, been waiting for the reprint im so glad i waited for this been playing with family and friends very easy to explaing an if not i share this video with them, lincoln love the video of you painting the dragons very beautiful done, congrats an keep with the great work big fan from mexico
I think Lincoln's victory involved a little luck and a lot of strategic awareness. Twice, he scored night dragons that got the +3 bonus for being the "most" of the right type of dragon. If those had been something that never had majority, like plants or bread, or if Lincoln hadn't played them at just the right time, he would've been down 6 points and tied with Dave. Very entertaining playthrough, thank you!
I missed the kickstarter for this but I can import the standard edition from Poland. It looks so cute and fun I bit the bullet, they say E.T.A April. It doesn't come with those awesome figures though just the wooden pieces. Awseome job painting those they look amazing 👍
I just came home, opened up RUclips and panicked, because I thought I'd lost four days 😂😜 Being a dragon, myself, I always love dragon games. Great video, guys!
Great playthrough and great to see this game get some Game Night love. At about 36:45 mark, Lincoln fires up a purple (potion) dragon to "swap," but just plays it on another shop location and takes the placement benefit. I don't believe this is how the "swap" dragons work, since the Ability calls for you to actually swap with another artisan dragon in town. Additionally, what this does is make it so that the shop where the potion dragon came from can be completed a second time, which shouldn't happen. EDIT - One extra thing worth mentioning is the leaf ability of giving a resource to someone for 2 reputation. Later in the game, when players are looking to squeeze a few extra reputation out of a turn means that those potion dragons allow you to do that as many times as there are potion dragons available.
Lincoln seems to be firing up the red dragon action to place a dragon anywhere in town (purple dragon on a wild space). I understand the confusion, as it was not clearly explained that he fired the red dragon, and the last available ability Dave explained was the swap ability.
Awww Dave, just before the hour-20 mark you filled one shop using a dragon ability and should have put a new shop out at the end of your turn. You guys did so well catching errors...I feel bad pointing it out. A few turns later, Lincoln filled another shop, so now there should have been two more shops out...I would have thought someone would have noticed there were fewer and fewer spots to place new dragons, but everyone seemed to be short of them or were too busy firing off enchantments I guess. FINALLY, on Gabby's final turn she filled one which would have brought out a third shop. Then of course, Dave noticed a new shop should have come out just in time for him to take advantage of it...shame on you Dave hahaha.
Ha, believe it or not, I kinda thought this might happen. In fact, Gabby was the one keeping me honest a few times :) But fortunately, like @swimprincess2 said, it essentially affected us all equally-ish. And it also seems like the second half (or 2/5) of the game will mostly be about going to the full shops to enchant anyway. Also, heh, not sure we'd have had enough table space anyway :) But yeah... missed a few, alas.
I love watching you all play games. I love this game. It is a great one. This is my favorite channel to learn how to play a game. I learn not just from the teach, but I also learn from watching the game play so keep up the good work. My only complaint is that I am getting commercials every 5 minutes. It is super annoying. Other than that I love this.
Connie, I'm sorry about the commercials. We received a copyright claim on a song and it forces us to have RUclips ads. We've almost never had that happen. Thanks for the kind words and for watching.-Lincoln
This looks a great game might be one for the collection but I usually play with family and might be slightly too heavy although seems simple once it's going
This looks like it could replace Lords of Waterdeep for me. This has the advantage of looking cute and not requiring knowledge of Forgotten Realms to be interesting.
@LillaJag we got stuck in Dallas in the ice storm and I couldn’t finish the episode until we returned home. Thanks for looking for the episode and sorry for the delay.-Lincoln
I love the art in this game, but all the stores having contempory references and puns really felt at odds with the cozy fantasy cottage-core aesthetic to me.
I'm sorry about that. We had a copyright claim on one of the songs and we cannot turn off ads when that happens. It really is a worry whenever we post. Thanks for watching though.-Lincoln
I’m pretty sure it’s a pun on a D&D monster. It’s called a Displacer Beast. It’s a black panther looking monster with two tentacles that come out of its back. They are able to use illusion magic to make them appear as if they are somewhere else.
On behalf of the dragons, I am outraged by Lincoln saying "they're all the same". And Dave calling Wingnut 'another Rusty'. How rude 😱😆 I definitely think some of the charm is lost on non-Americans who may not understand the punny stores. A lot of them flew over my head. Which i guess is thematic.
I am past the days of all cardboard chit resources. Too many games are coming out with upgraded bits right out of the base game for me to go back to hundreds of colored discs. I would have to upgrade the resource chits to some kind of deluxe bits...which means more out of pocket cost. I'm disappointed a game that has this level of over the top artwork didn't go with upgraded bits. (Probably in the kickstarter...grumble-grumble-grumble). It would be my luck, I'd get this version of the game...and then they'd come up with an upgraded bits version a year later after the game gets popular and/or wins some awards.
The deluxe version came with the wooden resources, dragon minis and metal coins. All of which can be purchased separately and added to the retail edition. Finding anything in stock is the tricky part.
Its a $35 game. Totally ok with them. We don't need every game to be $60-70. That stuff should always be optional. Its not needed and many board gamers would rather pay less.
Nobody can explain a game better than Dave!
Right? I bought this game because of this video, and then used this video with Dave's explanation to teach my wife the rules :)
I love how you have new people on the show once in a while! Gabby seems super nice!

FANTASTIC! Davis is amazing. He should have a channel like Rodney explaining and teaching games. That would be awesome!!!

In AD&D there is a monster called a Displacer Beast.
was about to write something along those lines as well, but you ninjad me by 11 hours XD
displacer beasts are really cool though =)
My family (including 2 young kids) loves Flamecraft! Great game for all!

The bonus packs to this game is awesome. The minis, the tokens and the coins are all great! :D
Recently brought this game based on its beautiful art style. Absolutely love this game! Great video ❤️
The burning embers of "Glowes" - you were looking for a pun version of Lowes
The art is so charming and cute 🥰

Whoops!! Right you are. Thanks
Thanks for playing, recording, and sharing. This game looks fun! I wonder if I can play at BGG Con Spring?
Come for the game, stay for the puns and jokes
6:35 Solo and 2 players are limited to 12 total shops. 3+ players can have up to 14.
great dragon painting!
Fire up those dragons. Great teach, cute game

I noticed this too! Luckily it didn't seem to impact play too much, and it ended up being a great playthrough!

A displacer beast is a creature/monster from Dungeons & Dragons
This looks a great game might be one for the collection but I usually play with family and might be slightly too heavy although seems simple once it's going
I think Nikki forgot to take 4 goods instead of 3 in 46:44 gather goods phase
GG everyone. Aron was destined to win because he supports Azzurri! 😄🇮🇹
I really wonder how would they compare this game to creature comforts
@26:50 Dave forgot go take one gold for placing Rusty in the Smith Mart. edit: never mind he quickly realizes the mistake.
This looks like it could replace Lords of Waterdeep for me. This has the advantage of looking cute and not requiring knowledge of Forgotten Realms to be interesting.
The manual doesn't tell you if sun dragons can be used more than once, but we've assumed that you can't.
Sidebar on page 13: You can only score each of your ☀ Dragons once per game. Leave scored ☀Dragons faceup in front of you.
Wonder there the Thursday video was but here it is! Wrong date or was intentional..?
@LillaJag we got stuck in Dallas in the ice storm and I couldn’t finish the episode until we returned home. Thanks for looking for the episode and sorry for the delay.-Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek No worries! The main thing is that you all came home in one piece. A Sunday episode is not bad at all!
They missed one "shop opening", right?
Sadly two. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
I love the art in this game, but all the stores having contempory references and puns really felt at odds with the cozy fantasy cottage-core aesthetic to me.
You'll get over it.
Goodness! There are a LOT of commercials. Even a Gamgenic commercial was interrupted by a commercial. 🤪
I'm sorry about that. We had a copyright claim on one of the songs and we cannot turn off ads when that happens. It really is a worry whenever we post. Thanks for watching though.-Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek Thank you for the explanation. I enjoy your content. Best wishes

Yup, the upgraded Kickstarter bits and metal coins are SOOOO nice! I’d hate to play without them!

It is awfully long for a game that will generally boil down to the luck of the next shop or scoring card that hits the table.
"...it's James Bond villain Hearts Galore!" That one made me proper giggle 🤭
