@@SamSam-ih6nt Agreed, it's $279 for this tool, it damn sure better have a lot of value. IDK if it has THAT much value for me, a guy who only works on cars when they break or need maintenance.
I like it and I have a lot of M12 and M18 tools but at $279 the cost can't be justified for a regular guy. If I was a paid mechanic then yes, but only after I had most other tools I needed. And that would be a long list of other tools. Pullers, extracters, ball joint tools, there is a long list. Having said that, if you work on cars and don't have a good cordless impact wrench nowadays, you might as well be in the Stone Age, lol. It is AMAZING how much the tool tech has changed since I started working on cars in the 80s.

At home I've done a lot of small projects that with hand tools, just took too long and I became tired fast. Specifically with a front subframe replacement which had a couple of long bolts that were painful with hand tools. Because of this, I've considered a cordless ratchet. Although, in a week I will be starting my job as an express tech which doesn't really use a ratchet that often or need an electric ratchet. I would need an impact as I'll be removing wheels a lot to do brake checks and tire rotations. Maybe an impact driver as the guy who trained me had one for certain engine splash shields when doing oil changes and opening air boxes. I've provided all this context because I've been looking into buying my first Milwaukee power tool and im unsure if it would be better for me to buy a Cordless ratchet like the insider for my personal project cars and as I learn to work more in depth on cars with school, or an impact wrench for work to be quicker and make it easier for me. what do you think?

I am really enjoying my M12 Insider Ratchet, I was concerned because when I would hold a socket with my hand it would just slip but thats normal and the way its made, I have tested it on tight bolts and nuts and this thing drives them on and off with no issues, so it's smart and knows if you are holding it or if you are trying to tighten or losen a real tight nut or bolt. great product, i bought the SAE sockets and for those that might not know that known issue with socket and anvils coming off, you can simply fill out a form and Milwaukee will send you the new updated anvils, 1/2",3/8", 1/4" with Locking feature, no more pulling out the anvils, Milwaukee listened and they made it right by giving these updated anvils free to those of us that bought the older ones. You cant go wrong with this Insider Ratchet, I can use their sockets and all of the ones I already own, plus hex bits which i use alot also!
The hex drive on the tool on the tool looks to be about 12mm across the flats. 16mm socket = M10 thread (ISO nut size, I know DIN and JIS are different), add a little clearance and you'd have nothing left! I'm impressed the 15mm socket is pass-through!
I pre-ordered one of these a couple months ago. Just now getting my shipping info but I thought of a tip: be sure to order the 1/2in adapter too (yes, they sell those)
Looks good. Addressed my concerns about being stuck with proprietary sockets. The price is also not as bad as I thought it would either. Might have to grab one next paycheck
I'm about to swap a jeep 4.0 engine on my XJ and was on the wall between the newer Dewalt 20v vs the insider. Seeing the insider in action makes me feel better about choosing it for my project. Longer neck, pass through sockets, better leverage to break bolts, more accessibility into tight areas, carry the anvils in your pocket and you can switch between 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. Last but not least, the faster it spins the less I like it! There has to be a realistic speed or you risk knurling and cross threading the bolts when fastening them. Now I know why by friend said the newer Dewalt was faster, but the Milwaukee insider was more practical.
the selector switch vibrates quite a bit which seems a little sus but I'm guessing it doesn't affect the use of the tool, just a note to make compared to the traditional electric ratchets that are solid when using the tool
Thank god for this tool. I’m ordering it right now. It’s great for taking car doors off. The pneumatic version we use at work is $1,300. I love being cordless though.
Thank you for another great video! ❤ Bought my first Subaru about 10 years ago, after that, both my now late father joined the team, my brother, and my Gf. i didn't even have to talk her into it...
*cough* it’s not just men who like tools! My late father (machine shop/cameraman/creator) instilled a love of tools in me, as has my avionics-based husband (SnapOn).
I like how when you switched it over then spun it, the socket pushed out of the drive lol great. I like the idea but any size over 15mm is no better than the old one? I think it's a straight up upgrade if you don't already own one. Thanks for the video
I have one of these. It seems to have a lot of power. Maybe to much. The one things I don't like is when you are using regular sockets with the square drive adapter, when you go to change sockets and go to pull the socket off, the adapter pulls out with the socket. Then you have to put the tool down and use both hands to get the adapter out of the socket and reinsert it into the tool and then install the new socket. I wish there was a way to better lock the adapter in place.
I saw a Ryobi one that you can change the head to any size, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2. I looked at it and was impressed with the design. Then a Home Depot employe told me that Milwaukee is making one just like that but its still not being sold your... I need it....
I ordered that ryobi from the US to Australia! I got that ryobi, an extended neck ryobi and a small low power lithium ryobi ratchet for the same price as just the insider Milwaukee sells for here in Oz - 3 tools for the price of 1, with much more controlled torque options (just pick your Max power, 75nm, 50nm, or 8nm) - ideal! Ryobi tools aren't as compact and small as the Milwaukee, but damn do you get a lot for your money. Is Milwaukee going to make a similar anvil design to the ryobi multi size?
I loved it until I saw that the directional switch has to oscillate like crazy. Non-starter! The other nail in the coffin is the 3/8 drive anvil likes to pull out whenever sockets are changed. I think I'll suffer with the regular extended reach, thank you. I find myself wanting to change sockets with each different bolt size.
I was very curious on how this wanna gonna set up size wise. I was hoping they would put the switch mechanism in a different area. I really like the sealed Matco (gasp!) ratchets. I’m curious about the size different with those and a stubby socket.
Since it's not an impact type tool, I can't see why they wouldn't. Honestly I'm surprised they even went with a 6 point in the first place. I guess to reduce risk of rounding over when breaking loose.
Looks great but with the current poor exchange rate (USD v AUD) that thing is gonna be mighty expensive down here. Most retailers here just do a flat x2 of the US price. 😭😭
Yeah you're better off getting the extended ratchet, regular ratchet and lithium low power ratchet ryobi here in Oz, all for less money than just this insider costs! And that way you have 3 tools, 3 power levels (75nm, 50nm and 8nm) and can apply the right tool for the job, instead of stripping the shit out of small fasteners
