There is more 8.468 million people in NYC most of the population uses public transportation at $2.90 the ride to go and come back from any errands that is 5.80 per day is you going to work weekly metro card is $34 that is per person. Let say half of the population buys week metro card in a week the MTA has $143.956 that is not including the per ride there is no excuse for the kind of service we get. They say is the largest transportation system it large because of the population but not because they have large physical lines of service. Makes us wonder how much all does people CEO and all does people that not doing nothing is packing up. Unfortunately many fare evaders are determined to find ways to circumvent the system. It's about time we finally moved past turnstiles but hopefully this makes a big enough impact and fares can stop rising so quickly. Fare evasion is something that should've been taken more seriously beforehand so that fares didn't come to the point that even people who clearly have an unlimited card feel compelled to not swipe. While I do welcome this I believe it may be too little too late. Only time will tell. It really just seems like nyc transit has turned into a freerunning course.

The MTA sure likes to take the longest way around to try solving a problem. Sure these fare gates look nice but they also look a few kicks away from being destroyed. They seem to want to try everything in the book besides actual fare enforcement. I know its a huge system, you cant have police everywhere in the system at once, even though NYPD patrols seem to have increased quite a lot. But seriously just try some actual enforcement at certain stations. Have NYPD or some peace officers stationed there and make it known that their job is to watch and cite or arrest anyone who jumps the turnstile. Move them around randomly each day. I'm pretty sure they could spare a few officers for an assignment like this. Plus doesn't the MTA still have their own police force? Get in there and make them stop, not just suggest they stop. You won't ever catch them all but catching some is better than none.

Mr. MTA President! What about the Buses🤔? Many people everyday wait the Bus stop to get in by the back door. Specialli, in The Bronx but in other Boros, too. Some people like me get in by the front door and pay and the others not? Its' that fare? I don't think so😡We, whom pays when we take the Bus going to do the same, get in by back door. We hope that you will do the same with the Buses but as soon as possible. We take our money from our pockets while others don't do it.
