And stop pushing the myth a lot of decisions went Liverpool's way, VAR decisions mostly weren't in Liverpool's favour and penalties weren't being given a lot of the time. Please point to a game where Liverpool got the result off the back of some poor officiating? As for signing 4 or so premier league players in January, who is selling those players. What good would signing someone like Sokratis be knowing his history in the premier league? Then you also have to account for the rules, Liverpool can't take on anymore foreign players over the age of 21 because of the quota on number of English players in your playing squad and so on. You're not taking everything into consideration with these takes.
Pep got it tactically perfect. Arsenal just let you have the ball then press on mistakes, city just slowed the game played passive balls and didn’t commit going forward and Arsenal hardly had a chance.
Other managers would copy his tactics if they had the same quality of recruitment. None of the other managers have squads they would trust to press this high. When the manager forces you that high up the pitch it must be liberating
I think it's time for Liverpool to play with 3 at the back (Phillips, Kabak, Davies) with Robertson and Trent playing as wing backs. Bring Henderson and Fabinho back into midfield. They've got nothing to lose now.
I like this idea, Phillips is good at defending but he run to save his life, if he could he could have prevented one of the goals.. Klopp has to change something.
I said start of this season, before we had any injuries, that Liverpool will not win the league. I'm a Liverpool fan and they can't continue that level of performance indefinitely. Injuries some being through bad tackles but plenty also through fatigue.
To add to my earlier point, the quality beyond the first eleven is lacking or non existent in several areas, I mean would origi and shaqiri make the bench for man city, Chelsea or Tottenham, I don't think so. The injury to jota and having these as our only other forward options has hurt us too, the result being front three feel zero pressure they will lose their starting places in the squad.

well as Gary said , I do not think the problem is the team , I think tactically we were wrong for the last 5 games in England , in my humble opinion , it think we stretched the games too much, having 5 defenders to penetrate al the time is painful and tiring for the players , the tactical team needs to review all of it and find different ways.
Not really been terrible when it comes to actual performances, a lot of the time it's the result that betrays Liverpool more than the performances. example the performance against Leicester was probably better than the game against Leipzig
@Milan Mathew Their performances have really let the boss down given his personal tragedy...I would have fought with all I have to give him a small reason to smile through this terrible time...shame on you, LFC squad.
I think 4-3-3 is fine, but its implementation needs to be changed, if necessary copy pep 2-3-5 with robbo and trent as inverted fullback instead of extra wing forward,,while thiago and gini push up in cam position
His most accurate point was the fact the team needed a reset. They played so well for so long at such a high tempo it could never continue in that way.

The "cracks started to appear in the fortress" after they had that 'winter' break from 4th to 15th February last year. First game back after that was Norwich (bottom of the league) in which they only won 1-0 with a Mane goal making the difference in the last 10 mins or so, they controlled the game but had little conviction against the poorest defence in the league. Then they lost 1-0 to Atletico in Spain, then had to come from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 at home in another tight tricky game. Then they lost 3-0 to Watford (in the relegation zone) a shocking defeat. Then lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup. Then narrowly beat Bournemouth (another relegated team) 2-1 and then lost to Atletico in the CL at Anfield. That 'winter break' was when it all changed for some reason.

Always thought Liverpool could play okay in a 3 back formation (if they have another centre half’s fit) Fabinho and Henderson are good enough to step up and bring the ball out of the back 3. Gives Trent and Robbo more freedom and especially helps Trent out defensively, also takes a bit of pressure off of the midfielders.
Love the Gary Neville podcast 🙂
keep these coming, i love hearing nevilles take
neville's tactical nous is great, spot on with liverpool - agree that klopp needs to be more pragmatic
Pep got it tactically perfect. Arsenal just let you have the ball then press on mistakes, city just slowed the game played passive balls and didn’t commit going forward and Arsenal hardly had a chance.
Yeh we were in 2nd gear, we’ve got a bigger game in 3 days
Finally a scouser with common sense
To add to my earlier point, the quality beyond the first eleven is lacking or non existent in several areas, I mean would origi and shaqiri make the bench for man city, Chelsea or Tottenham, I don't think so.
The injury to jota and having these as our only other forward options has hurt us too, the result being front three feel zero pressure they will lose their starting places in the squad.
@@colin7225 Shaqiri and Origi would make Spurs and Chelsea bench if not flatout start
Same mate,we've had 5 years of bliss, champs league finalists, champs league winners, premier league winners...it had to drop off....I'm.just glad I backed us not to finish top4 at 10/1!
@MB spurs have spent the last couple of seasons looking for Harry Kane cover, Origi could easily fill in that role
Best pundit by a mile
Best pundit
Second best right back in premier league history, behind Matty cash obviously.....

@@AR-ei3fs Still can't believe Neville is considered the best Right back of the premier League era, by virtue of there just not being any world class players in the position that played for more than two seasons, it really is one of the oddest things about the Premier League.
Wenger does punditry work, so no. ourinho and Benítez have also done some punditry work for sky. Neville is very far from being a great pundit.
His bit about Lingard is spot on. People tend to forget he was quality a few years back and hada good career up to this last 18 months-2 years
Gary “Protect Them” Neville
Gary is first class the best you could listen to him all day
Gary 'liverpool should play three at the back' don't think we have the facilities for that big man
barca once played back 3 with 1 CB....
@@RafsanS15 Once being the key word. Liverpool also did a couple of years ago agains Brighton
The key to 3 back is to use 2 fullbacks
Ben Davies kabak and Philip's Trent and Robertson as wingbacks sorted lol
@@tsa_03 Davies is injured at the moment.
well as Gary said , I do not think the problem is the team , I think tactically we were wrong for the last 5 games in England , in my humble opinion , it think we stretched the games too much, having 5 defenders to penetrate al the time is painful and tiring for the players , the tactical team needs to review all of it and find different ways.
Yeah they have to try something new, they are terrible right now
3-5-2 with no Firmino
Not really been terrible when it comes to actual performances, a lot of the time it's the result that betrays Liverpool more than the performances. example the performance against Leicester was probably better than the game against Leipzig
@Milan Mathew Their performances have really let the boss down given his personal tragedy...I would have fought with all I have to give him a small reason to smile through this terrible time...shame on you, LFC squad.
Has to let go of that 4-3-3...
At least for a little while
I think 4-3-3 is fine, but its implementation needs to be changed, if necessary copy pep 2-3-5 with robbo and trent as inverted fullback instead of extra wing forward,,while thiago and gini push up in cam position
You could listen to Gary Neville speak about football all day....
"They have to try something different" yeah, like have a defence on the field?
Like rotate every few games for the last 3 years so all your players don't get injured through overplaying?
Maybe teach Arnold to defend or tell salah not to go the ground every 5 mins in the box
His most accurate point was the fact the team needed a reset. They played so well for so long at such a high tempo it could never continue in that way.
Gary recommended going 3 at the back, they dont have any senior cb's why on earth would they go 3 at the back
More cover bit obvious isn’t it
they’ve got 2 senior CBs pal
Garry and Taylor, i can always listen to this all day
Gary ‘Floyd Mayweather’ Neville
Totally agree about Liverpool , Brighton, Everton, Burnley 5 in midfield against Liverpool
Gary “it was too easy for them” Neville
It took Liverpool thirty years to get to the summit and they're already halfway back down again 😂
@Helmut Schmacker Leicester?
Maybe they should try winning? I heard somewhere that helps.
Yeh, score more goals too and keep clean sheets and win and they'll be fine

Can we get a camera on Martin???
Yeah we want to see that lovely face
No
I'm a Liverpool fan but I can't agree more with him. Great pundit. Level headed. Well done. But next season we'll be talking about how it was a great learning experience for the squad and now we're almost unbeatable.

Why does everyone talk like lingard is 21 and not 28 🤦🏼♀️
I know your football knowledge is based solely off fifa, but you can still improve as a player and have a good career from 28. Players careers don’t just finish when they turn 30
@@iPro3million they speak about him like he’s an up and coming player. Fair comments from Gary and agree maybe a change would help .... even if to mess up opposition teams match tactics.
Garry literally said "Jesse Lingard will have a great football career" lmao. The meme still lives, I bet it will until Jesse is 35 and retired.
Saying someone will have a good career does not mean they are young. This isn’t fifa, people’s careers don’t finish when they turn 30
what's wrong in that, jesse was so good at the 2018 world cup, without him, England wouldn't have made it into the semi finals. He is way more important than y'all realize
@Patsy Decline so crap they won tonight
It's impressive that lingard is probably the most trolled player in the world online and he is still able to play as well as he does.
So playing for Man utd & West ham (who are on the up currently challenging for champions league places) isn't a great football career? I'm baffled.
Excellent stuff by Gary. ⭐
He can talk football but definitely cant jab 😂
You didn’t like his jab from the elbow out technique? Thought it was sick and looked like there was some power in it.
Best thing on sky sports! 👌
Okay. I get where he is coming from BUT put some god damn respect on Floyd Mayweathers name, He doesn’t just jab for the rest of the fight !
He will be passive for a large parts of round though and land the shots he needs to take the round. If openings happen he won't say no like city lol
Yeah but for the last 14 years since Ko'ing Hatton he has 2 finishes. 1 a TKO against a 0-0 novice the 2nd a cheap shot Ko (a deserved cheap shot) but still not a legit KO. He doesnt 'just jab' or they would walk him down like Hatton tried and paid for but he is definitely not an all action fighter.
Always thought Liverpool could play okay in a 3 back formation (if they have another centre half’s fit)
Fabinho and Henderson are good enough to step up and bring the ball out of the back 3.
Gives Trent and Robbo more freedom and especially helps Trent out defensively, also takes a bit of pressure off of the midfielders.
Also think Salah and Mane are looking much more dangerous centrally at the minute than out wide so putting them two up front together could be an option
