Apply ohm's law to calculate the current through the tool. Current equals voltage divided by resistance of the tool. So if voltage is 5v and resistance is 2 ohms the current is 2,5 amps. Also the resistance gets exponentially higher with the increase in temperature(a good thing, less stress on power supply). Great videos but make one where you explain the basics. In my opinion one shouldn't be doing anything around electronics without a decent multimeter and basic knowledge of ohm's and kirchhoff's laws.

Awesome video! Personally I would leave a very small gap between the two contact points to break the circuit once the pressure is relieved. And in turn reapplying pressure to close the circuit once you need to use it again, being that a tiny amount of pressure is used to affect fibrous material anyways.

Thank you so much for your vid on making this mini pyrography pen. You made it look so simple, that even I could do it !
I paid £25 for one on eBay. The guy mucked me around so much with excuses that the time had run out to send it back. I could name the guys user name, but I’d probably be in the shit ! So now I’ll make my own one thanks to you pet. 💕💕

phuck there are a few smart arses here who are stuck well and good in the great american way.I actually tried this and it works ok.without any probs. If it had fried my ps well so what?
i have tons but as 5v@2A it worked way above my expectations and took about 20min to construct.I say well done but I'm not some teenaged merikan boy who knows everything.Just an old aussie ex army ex mining engineer who sees a nice simple idea that works in soft wood anyway.

Maybe a stupid question but was there any issues with the thread or area where wires were attached to power supply catching fire, burning through the wood? A sensation of burning or electrical shock if you were to hold above where the connection was made? Thank you for the video thinking of making one as a fun tool to use. :-)

I made mine by modifying an ecig. The rebuild able dripping atomiser has 2 posts meaning it was easy to make custom shaped wire heads for different effects and shapes like letters etc. The use of batteries also means it is cordless. Only do this if you know what you're doing - vaping has enough bad press without some fool blowing themselves up doing pyrography - of course this would never happen to me 😇🔋

tried this twice, first attempt with two sewing needles (one regular and a much thinner one, as i had no syringe needle) and a usb micro b charging cable, second attempt with a sewing needle and piece of thin wire + usb c charger, both only resulted in sparks and no heat when i touched the needles together. I'm not completely sure, but i think the wattage of my power source might be the issue, as well as the second needle (I'm unable to procure medical needle) but a second opinion would be great. help ??

I wonder if you could make an electric cigarette lighter with this kind of setup. That would be cool. I had one of those bag sealers that just used two batteries to melt the potatoe chip bags and stuff. Maybe you could make something to light cigarettes. Love your videos. I have downloaded a bunch of them.
