Dude THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have SO MANY of these batts laying around cuz I smoke usen a vaping mod and use these same batts everyday. N I have a bunch so I dont use all of them everyday. Only 4. So I couldnt think of wat to use them for. And a few times my crappy iron left life support n moved to the afterlife and i ended up not being able to solder stuff n have to wait for my mail to come for my new iron in from ebay. NOW I can make a SUPER cheap n ok iron for quick fix its. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! KEEP UP THE WORK!!

brilliant for quick fix now when playing where there is no power. others commented it's not LiPo but NiMh, is better for this anyhow. a couple sub C NiMh in series and longer nichrome for more heat less current draw maybe, but the idea is solid.

As someone else already pointed out, this is a perfect way to kill a perfectly working lithium cell. Unless you're very, very careful about not discharging it too much, I guess, but you should not just rely on that. Lithium cells protection circuits are very cheap, you can grab several for a couple of bucks on eBay. I have to say though, that it's a really neat idea.

Muhd Faaris won't cunduct heat very good as copper most of soldering tips are copper because they heat in the matter of seconds
