- On this episode we fabricate a custom made Steering Column Mount for the 1929 Ford Roadster. We utilize a part of an original early mount, weld and blend our own shape and ad a vintage style Glass red light for either (oil pressure or generator)
We also powder coat this in a Cor-ten finish to give it the appearance it is a factory piece for the car. These are the small over-looked pieces that I love to create.

Love it man ! You are the blending master. Miss you all 😢 I’ll
Be back!!!
Doors always open!
Looks more like piece of art than fabrication . Very cool. Love the tip of square cutting the discs.
Definitely get extra use of those burnt out discs! Works a treat
a piece of art 👍 red emergency brake light ....
Good idea!
Not just a steering column but a piece of art. I love the attention to detail. I never heard of Corten as a color I always known it as a type of steel (the John Hancock building in Chicago) that gets a surface rust that becomes its finish. How fitting for matching the patina. Great job Jordan.
I’ve used it building art pieces or design stuff, it’s pretty cool to use and this coating is almost a perfect match it’s wild!
That looks about as factory as you can get Jordan nice work again, definitely looks cast not fabbed. Cheers Greg
Thanks Greg!
This turned out very unique and very nice design. Hopefully it works well for you my friend. This project is really coming together nicely so far. Carl. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Thank you Jared I’m getting excited to finish!
Very cool Jordan , definitely looks original. It really opens my eyes … 👊🏻
Something simple and inexpensive. But looks like it was there from day dot
As always Jordan, your skill sets are strong. I've always been a creator and craftsman that focuses on the small details and this type of workmanship by you is right on track with that mindset. When minute details are considered and executed enough times on one piece no matter its size or function it makes the overall finished product exceptional and not forced. Well done young man.
Thank you kindly Eric, these are definitely the pieces I enjoy to create!
Incredible artistry for a part that seldom gets this kind of attention! Go Bennetts Customs, keep moving forward!
My favourite pieces
Hey Jordan, what a stunning column drop! Your powder coating turned out great! Love your artistic approach to everything you touch! Bravo! Bravissimo!!!
Thank you kindly Tom!
Great job on the column drop Jordan! Really nice design and fab both! In bare metal it sure did look like a casting straight from Henry's! Big thanks for another fun video!
Thank you Jon! Always great to get some positive feed back! Looking forward to get this running
You sure do some nice work.👍
another great video Jordan
Thanks Robert
Metal art!!!!! I love how this car is turning out!!!
Nice work again Jordan, beautiful look with the powder coat. We’ll done.
Thank you Paul, much appreciated!
Beautiful column drop! You do great work!
Thanks Dale!
As much as I liked the brazed look, the powdercoat does make it blend into the rest of the car. Nice job 🤙
Thank you!
That turned out killer!
Thanks Daddy!
Yep .. looks very similar to the one on my 40 Ford 1 ton reg series
Wow this video really gives you a lot of inspiration to go out and make something thank you for the video
part looks brilliant
Excited to see what you make James!
The column drop color looks good Jordan why don't you powder coat the column , column drop and turn indicator so they all match like they came from the same 39 Ford. As for the driver side column drop get fancy put a clock in it. The cast of jewels would make a trick shifter knob with it lit up at night trucker style .
Definitely on the same page with the clock! Been looking for something!
great details man!
Awesome work keep it up
l
my dads 39 ford v8 had a flick switch on the steering column bracket but l suppose most fords in the late 30s fords did
Coming together very nice Jordan . Going to be a cool ride . If you have time to check out rattle trap . Keep a eye out for number 87 light blue roadster and my brothers dark blue number 10 . David from vic
Yup got a bunch of rattle trap videos to get through this Sunday evening! I’ll be looking out. Great to see you guys made it, I hope to be there next year
G,day mate, very informative video, it's helpful to me, thanks. Hooroo se ya later 👍
Thanks James!
Awesome!
Maybe since that light is so close to the loom for the indicator you could wire it in to blink along with the indicator?
Not a bad idea!
Ya know that if you were to drive on the correct side of the road all of that unnecessary work would not have to have been done. Is it possible that things work backwards down there? Heard rumors about toilets flushing the opposite way also! First time crossing the equator on a boat ran to the pot to see if the swirling stopped, was dismayed to see that it spun correctly. American toilet didn’t get the memo? I have come to the conclusion that you are an artist who just happens to work on old rusty things and make them look like no one else’s. Not rat rods, but classy over the top Really enjoying your musings. 😊
Hahahah fair bit backwards man getting around.
I definitely don’t see myself as a car builder. I just really enjoy creating things of the eras and try and compliment what’s there by adding my touches. It’s fun!
Nice Work. Looks Great.

Really digging the channel and will be attempting to build my 29 as well. Had a question on the hood and sides. Does it need to be reshaped to fit the 32 grill?
How did you get a Tim Horton sign in Australia.
Did a container last year from home and that followed me
I suspect the red light is a bit of "form over function".
Can you actually see it when driving ?
Sure , if I look for it
👍🏼👍🏼
That would give a Jelly Fish a Hard on..
Hahaha wonder how big that would be
Very tidy mate, I’ll drop you off some soft jaws for ya vice
Bro is the passenger driving?????????
its australia they drive on the correct side of the road, l saw a video on here which said they use to in the usa, but henry ford refused to put the sterring wheel on the right, the president said it was too dangerous to drive on the left with steering wheel on left, so switched to driving on the right
