Recycling Old Parts: Creating a Custom Headlight Bar from Repurposed Cast Iron | 29' FORD Roadster

  • On this episode we fabricate a headlight bar recycled from an old cast one. We create a simple piece that would trick your eye to think it was stock. We cover a very cool trick using a needle scaler to show a texture that almost displays as cast. These are the small bits that are awesome to create.

Loved this one. Nothing like repurposing old parts. Creativity at its best. Thanks for another fabulous video.

If metal nature is telling you its meant to be with natural form , then thats the best way.

Hello Jordan. I think the feet on the headlight bar are spot on. Like there running forwards. Short leg in front long leg out back. I have 4 broken studs in my 322 heads. I’ve tried the weld on a nut but with no joy. I managed to drill one stud out but as there on an angle and go into the water jacket scares me. Always enjoy your creativity, and look forwards to what you will come up with next. All the very best Tim.

Love the needle scaler. It really textures the medal well. So glad you went with the long swoop to the back on the brackets. Awesome job! Looks like it was original to the car way back when.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that light bar came from an old Chevrolet truck. It would have mounted, before you modded it, to the front fenders. In the middle where you suspect there was chrome, that was or could have been where the V8 emblem was mounted. Nice work!

Jordan nice work on the roadster! I have a 1929 I am collecting parts for now while I finish off a couple other projects. You mentioned you bought the British Columbia plate topper of a guy who makes them in the lower mainland of BC. Can you let me know where I can pick one up? I really want one for my Roadster. Love the tip on “antiquing” new metal with the scaler, nice touch!
