Recycling Old Parts: Creating a Custom Headlight Bar from Repurposed Cast Iron | 29' FORD Roadster
HTML-код

- On this episode we fabricate a headlight bar recycled from an old cast one. We create a simple piece that would trick your eye to think it was stock. We cover a very cool trick using a needle scaler to show a texture that almost displays as cast. These are the small bits that are awesome to create.

Loved this one. Nothing like repurposing old parts. Creativity at its best. Thanks for another fabulous video.
Thank you Tony! Much appreciated
If metal nature is telling you its meant to be with natural form , then thats the best way.
Great looking headlight bar! never seen one like it. The way it fits the frame horns is so clean!
I was worrried it would be a bit much but I think it looks right at home
Going to be one hell of a cool ride .
😅At 41:43 was that a spider that came across the floor and hid behind the extension cord plug?
Hahah it looks like it was about to eat me!
I really enjoy watching you fabricate. you care a lot about the Quality of your work. And the tip with the needle gun was great.
Thank you for the great video 👍💯
Thank you James! It’s always fun to create and push yourself. I love to Obsorb and learn and try new things.
You are living the dream Sir! You truly love what your doing?
I’m definitely metal obsessed!
The headlight bar is definitely cool and I like the way you repurposed that break cross over tube as a spreader bar, cool.
Thanks Michael! I definitely love to repurpose pieces!
Hello Jordan. I think the feet on the headlight bar are spot on. Like there running forwards. Short leg in front long leg out back. I have 4 broken studs in my 322 heads. I’ve tried the weld on a nut but with no joy. I managed to drill one stud out but as there on an angle and go into the water jacket scares me. Always enjoy your creativity, and look forwards to what you will come up with next. All the very best Tim.
Thank you Tim! Hope you get those bugger studs out! I’ve been there what a pain
Great video again Jordan, well done!
Thank you Paul
Nice job with the texture, diggin' how it's coming along.
Thanks Gee Whizz!
Love the needle scaler. It really textures the medal well. So glad you went with the long swoop to the back on the brackets. Awesome job! Looks like it was original to the car way back when.
Thanks Tim! Yeah it’s a blast to use. Really fun to try different textures with metal
Take care of your health.
Is Galmet available in the US somewhere? Love the look of the converted rusty metal!
I did try and have a look while I was there but didn’t find it, let’s see if there’s something of the same material
If I'm not mistaken, I think that light bar came from an old Chevrolet truck. It would have mounted, before you modded it, to the front fenders. In the middle where you suspect there was chrome, that was or could have been where the V8 emblem was mounted. Nice work!
Hey Will you definitely could be right going off some old images! The one piece of Chevy so far!
I worked in a foundry and when the castings need to be fixed they would use those needles to blend the weld then shot blast them
Yeah I’ve seen them do that! Pretty cool trick!
They make a set of calipers with carbide tips for marking metal.
Very cool..
You have the best music on y/t 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Mark. We try and have a good variety mod stuff people would enjoy!
Another cool idea. Looks great.
great idea and manufactoring
Thanks Fiz!
Love the mount,look awesome!!
Thanks for the tips.
good texturing tip. thanks 👍
That turned out to be a pretty solid unit that looks good.. no vibrating headlights for sure, I looked up Radial Motion over here and it looks like a very interesting power plant especially with a turbo. cheers Greg
Yeah it’s solid as a rock! Tow bar and head light bar all in one! Haha
Nice job! I did something very similar and used a 32 V8 emblem in the center of the bar.
I have a nice piece of home for across it you will see in the next video!
Nice work. I think that the needle scaler was made to remove welding slag from large areas like pipes where half inch rods were used .
Yup you’re right! Works a treat for that
Amazing attention to detail. Gorgeous headlight bar. Go Benntts Customs, keep moving forward!
Thank Murdoc always appreciate that
Will any of that interfere with the hand crank ?
The grill does have a hole in it .
I was thinking about putting a pull rope on my 3 cylinder geo metro ,
Just for laughs .
😁
I don’t plan on using the hand crank. If I have too well I’ll have to drill a hole hahah
Is it just me or does the drivers side light sit lower? Might just be camera angle.
Sitting pretty over here. Might be camera
Really cool
Looks good 👍
Very Nice job Jordan Looks Excellent
Thanks John!
Jordan nice work on the roadster! I have a 1929 I am collecting parts for now while I finish off a couple other projects. You mentioned you bought the British Columbia plate topper of a guy who makes them in the lower mainland of BC. Can you let me know where I can pick one up? I really want one for my Roadster. Love the tip on “antiquing” new metal with the scaler, nice touch!
Looks brilliant. You are very clever. Cheers
Thank you kindly Robert
Right on Jordan. Couldn't be cooler.
Thanks Eric
Bold move Nice results. Love the creatitivy.
You're a craftsmen. If you look at images of a Chrysler 77 they have the same bar with a "77" in the middle, like a "V8" on a 32 bar.
That head light bar is a 29 Chrysler Imperial
Yes! Thank you Mr Seam!
That's why I used a 37 Chevy truck radiator shell on my 40 cab hotrod ! The headlights are on the 37 shell !
👍👍😎👍👍

Thank you as always! Best support Jared
It would be nice to make replicas of these cars, but from modern materials and to be electric. With an authentic look
The head light bar looks good 👍, make the spreader bar with the same arch as the head light bar
Awesome I’m back watching looking sweet 👍👍
Jordan do you still have the Oldsmobile
Still have it! The whole front end has been blasted and will put the motor out soon. Need to sell the race car
@@bennettscustomsco Sounds Good
That finish on the fresh metal is insane...fantastic little trick...for metal finishing
Yeah it’s really cool!
What shoes have you got on dude?
Redwings!
@@bennettscustomsco Legend!
