I think steroids should be allowed in MMA.
-Weight classes eliminate steroid bullying(with the exception of HW but that's the organization's fault).
-Fighters go in to fights injured all the time and that's not safe(steroids and peptides can aid in injury recovery).
-If there's anything to be said by more likely knockouts in fights then that would mean fights are shorter and the fighter thus takes less accumulative damage(same argument as boxing vs MMA)

@@aesop2733Steroids being banned was never about safety to begin with.
If the MMA regulatory bodies cared about safety, they’d change how weigh-ins are done so some fighter aren’t going in with one foot in the grave trying to make weight, then immediately after trying to put as much weight back on before the fight.

Bazooka tooth Kruger I came to break bread. Anyway to the real topic, you're wrong. A man very muscular at 170lbs would normally be at a disadvantage vs someone 170lbs on gear. One of the main reasons is simply recovery. Without getting larger muscles, or being notably different, steroids can absolutely make the diff for endurance and heart function. That's why Russian 100lbs ice skaters fail for the same type of endurance peds that people like LBJ use. It's not all muscle based. Especially with fighting.

He's getting on in age and it all slows down. I joined the military at 65 kg, never peaked above 70kg until I stopped running and marching on end. When you stop burning thousands of calories on endurance activities, you'll change overnight. Age is a factor too. He also probably had huge amounts of anxiety too and lived in the stress bubble before fights. Give all that up and have a few good meals , you'll pack it on rapidly.

Wrestled through HS and college till an injury took me out my sophomore year. I was a strong athlete the whole time but after my injury healed, I focused almost exclusively on the weight room and put on 25 pounds in the next 16/18 months. It definitely happens when you’re cutting weight and training for cardio year round, you can put on some serious muscle when you can eat all you want and let your muscles rest and recover. Crazy thing is, I went back to the wrestling room after putting on all that weight and was beating nationally ranked wrestlers at my new weight class. Definitely wish I would have spent more time getting stronger before I stopped competing.
