Check the height setting of your scalp wheels on the deck. on level surface set the deck height to cut level. place the end of your pinky finger flat on the ground under the scalp wheel. if wheels don't touch your finger change height to correctly set the height. each scalp wheel will have to be checked and adjusted. there are nuts and bolts that you can remove and place wheels in the proper hole. This should resolve most scalping issues. I had to adjust mine when I first bought it. Keep on mowing...
I have the same one the flywheel fan is cheap plastic that over time will just break apart to save you a little trouble make sure you have a 15/16socket deep well and a pipe wrench to hold the shaft im also a ex tractor trailer driver i drove gas tankers for 35 years
I've had my Husqvarna lgt2554 for 10 year's now and it's been a great mower. I take care of it. I tune it up yearly, and sharpen the blades. I have some big trees also, and I switched to the Husqvarna mulching blades, and mulching kit. You still may have to run over heavy leaves a couple times . I didn't buy the Husqvarna bagger, it's too expensive, too bulky. Thanks, John
If I get off my Husqvarna while mowing, I just disengage the blades, but leave the motor running, set the parking brake. Also, on level concrete, measure your deck height on both sides, you can level your deck up. I had to level mine when I purchased it. John
if on some of the places you are trying to grow grass, look into alternatives like low growing white clover. Good for pollinators, helps soil. Other good things. I learned some things from your review. TY!
You need to get about 3 to 4 yards of dirt to cover your stumps, rocks and roots. Run some string to the height you need your lawn to be and then fill it in. Get a 8 foot 2x4 to make sure it is somewhat consistent at the height you want after the obstacles are covered. 3-4 yards are about 3 tons from a pay loader. That should be less than $200 for the soil. The hardest problem is finding free labor from family and friends!😂 Good luck!
Your right but I have actually laid down 26 too 28 tons so far since that video.by hand and by my self and I have only scratched the Surface .long story short my home was never graded properly. And trying to find the right fill dirt .or top soil has been an experience lol. My whole back yard has been eroded away I'm going to need about 40 more tons to get it halfway 😩 right .I also included a drain so the water run off would have a place to go. I even found a place we're I can get free compost. But it just takes time .so until I get it repaired this mower stays in the front yard .if you want to I gave a video om me moving all that dirt I took 3 days 🤪🤪🤪
YOU ALSO CAN raise the deck underneath, just make sure it is still level. THAT WAY it will not scalp at 3 inches. The 3 should be 3 inches the 5 should be 5 inches. It may not have been set properly from the factory.
You know your terrain better than we do. But in those areas that you scalp the lawn, you could try a different deck height. CAN you lift the deck without disengaging the blades? If you can that may be the thing to do raise it quick then after put it back.
I really need to regrade my back yard it was never done right .I have 20 years of Erosion .large roots popping up out the ground .I broke a spindle. My wife will not let me fix it .I have to take it to a dealer
@@evansmoak7182 she said it's not paid for yet lol I took it to the dealer 🤣 ha a spindle replacement two blades and a deck belt replacement. After that mess I started leveling out what caused the damage in the first place
Great video, I am buying my first riding mower soon and have settled on the same model. Do you know about what size lawn you have and how long it takes to mow?
I think about 7 thousand square feet. About ten to 15 minutes to mow .I don't use the grass catcher I didn't like the reviews. Just remember she has some kick to her so you can pick up the speed if you want to
this mower is Husqvarna entry level mower with a hydrostatic trans and is just a basic no frills mower and it just cuts grass. I have had mine for 3 years and it is OK nothing special.
better watch using that gas in a can i tried it my new tractor ran like crap took it to the dealership and the said it messed the plugs up and plugged my fuel filter they said use regular gas so i do no issues now

Curious what your #6 setting leaves the grass height at. I bought a used YTA-18542 2014 model and it doesn't seem to be much different just learning the ins and out of it. One thing I notice is the deck height numbers like you mentioned are strange. Just to get 3" it looks like I need a setting of 5.

I've just bought a very similar Husqvarna ride on mower brand new and I'm getting vibrations through the steering wheel and accelerator pedal as soon as I engage the blades. Is this normal?! It's literally got 1 hour on it. Okay it's not a lot of, but its definitely there. Any feedback would be much appreciated as I'm a bit concerned about it
@@cantstopwalkingbutlovemowing Nope, it's brand new and haven't struck anything. I just spoke to the dealer and he said it's normal. When you ingadge the blades is the engine speed running on high .or near that rabbit sign. Look under you mower at your belt it might be stuck or jamed .the belt kinda runs a little loose down there.if you can not get it take it back .
The second mow my wife wanted to use it. The bolts that hold the 2 tubes that funnel the clipping must have vibrated loose. Found them months later torn up from previous mows. The part that addaches to the deck breaks easily too

I always use 100% gas for small engines. They just weren't designed to run om ethanol.
On my blower and edgers I use the can gasoline
