When I was in Jakarta, everyone was so friendly and since Im like two meters tall and white as shit, people came up to me just to talk. I even was invited to a random persons home for dinner. I love Jakarta. Also, I bought a pair of Adidas pro model basket ball shoes, and wrote this little rhyme saying, "When I was over seas, I spent over a million on these!" I know, very dumb, but they were like 1,400,000. And yes, it was at a brand store at that huge way too nice mall they have.
Wow.. i imagine local chicks there throwing themselves to you... Because they love bule.. (not all)
🌷
I love this concept, please do more like this in another city in Indonesia.
🌷
"Scary Delicious"
That's a very spot on phrase to describe indonesian food lmao.. especially their sweets... 😅😅

it is very delicious... a musy try food when you visit Indonesia... especially when you have complete set of toppings: Cheese, chocolate, peanut, sesame, and condensed milk...
0:23 super gingery
Kwe Putu is similar to Puttu from South Indian states of Tamilnadu and Kerala. Even the name is similar. We also eat it with grated coconut.
I think so, many Indonesian food is fission from other country because long time ago, Indonesia do trading spicy to other country, like martabak manis actually from China, martabak telor come from Arab. But already change some ingredients.
Reminds me of Philippine puto dessert :)
@@annk387 puto is an entirely different thing in spanish
@@m.h.a.2404 lol I don't think I want to continue with that kind of conversation, that's why I mentioned Philippine dessert, not the one in Spanish term. lol
You're right, it IS similar to Puttu from Tamilnadu. Even the word Putu (or Puto in Tagalog) is a loanword from Tamil to old Malay when it was the lingua franca in Southeast Asia. But each country has their own version of putu. Another similar case is Appam.
Enjoy Jakarta dude !!!
💚
Ive been to Jakarta so this one will be interesting :) I love Jakarta and Bali so much.
🌷
Putu is also available in Southern Indian state of Kerala and probably Sri Lanka too.
Many Putu sellers in Jakarta are Indian descendant, no wonder why they sell Indian / Bengali dessert
Indonesia and Philippines are like parallel universes of each other, it's the same but also different haha
💚
Oh my gosh is that the Indonesian version of Puto Bumbong? 😮 I'd love to visit Indonesia ❤
🌷
If anyone are wondering whether to go to Bali or Jakarta, I would say Jakarta all day for the people, but Bali is very nice to look at, but many there dislike tourists.
💚
Oh I've missed your videos take care much love from the UK 🇬🇧
💚
Jakarta looked litle bit diferent 47 years ago, there was only one YH and some private rooms, to crash for the night incredable place even 47 years ago...thank you Drew hello to you from friend from Praha
God...47 years ago Indonesia is still under the Soeharto regime
It was not little bit but a lot different. Jakarta has been one of the fastest growing cities on Earth for the last 5 decades, save for cities like Dubai and some cities in China known for their construction boom.
As a full-life resident of Jakarta if you show pictures of Jakarta in 1970s I won’t recognize anything except the some old buildings such as the Jakarta Cathedral, Istiqlal Mosque, and the National Monument. In 1970s, Jakarta probably *only had one or two skyscrapers* if not none at all, while today there are *literally hundreds of them*. Also there are of course, far more cars, motorbikes, modern buses, and trains roaming today than in 1970s.
I'm so happy you like them. Love from the Indonesian!
Thank you!
tapi kok pake kata bizzare?
Nice
I agree that martabaknis scarily delicious
Can you do a visit to the Moluccan islands my bird came from there I would love to see the islands.
💚
It's Chinese origin, you still can find it in Indonesians students Vlog in China but I forget what is it in China, in Indonesia we call it wedang ronde, wedang means drink, hot drinks, in Japan look like dango 😅
it's called tang yuan in Chinese
💚
If you think that martabak is too much, then the recent appearance of crispy thin crepe martabak will be better. However, its dry unlike the original counterpart.
💚
Wonderful food, except Durian.I agree dirty socks that havent washed for 3 weeks, spot on
Puuutuuuuu..!!! oh gooosh..!!!!All Thouus Wistle sounds like Nyumme Nyumme , ..!! Martabak's Biggest Competitor

The 2nd dessert looks like GINATAANG BILO BILO in Philippines
💚

💚
In Jakarta I had this Durian fruit cookie/chocolate thing and I thought it was very nice. Ive never smelled the fresh fruit, though.

💚
No, Drew.
Smell of durian is the best of all fruits.
💚
If you like putu, do visit Pasar Senen. It’s the biggest market that sells only sweets, some savory snacks and Indonesian traditional cake as well. They opened from midnight to dawn because in daytime the products get sent to smaller business.
💚
💚
Hey Drew if you one day you come to Papua New Guinea hit me up I will be happy to be your tour guide.
wait..
You said big slum?
Hey bro..
there is just 10% of slum area in Jakarta..
This equivalent to new york city..
Don't give a perception that our country is poor..
Because we are not..
5%
@@cobain165 Lah malah lebih dikit lagi tho?
💚
Durian is disgusting
WELCOME TO❤ JAKARTA PUSAT" JAKARTA SELATAN" JAKARTA BARAT" JAKARTA TIMUR" JAKARTA UTARA" KEPULAUAN SERIBU ISLAND JAKARTA*❤❤
Come to the philippines drew
He's still here I think
These dessert very similar to chinese dessert
Nice! Thanks for sharing 😀
For the martabak, I think it actually is came from China. In western part of Indonesia near Malacca strait, the locals called it Hok Lo Pan. I don't know any Chinese but the name sounds very Chinese to me.
The Hokkien tribe is a tribe originating from Fujian which is located in the south-southeast region of China. This tribe has immigrated to many countries, especially in Southeast Asia. The Hokkien tribe is one of the most numerous Chinese ethnic groups in Indonesia.
The soup one is literally Chinese Tang Yuan with local Indonesian seasoning.
Martabak dough basically similar with pancake (in US/UK) or dorayaki (in Japan)
Why do you say "bizarre" ? what's bizarre about those foods?
I had an exchange student back in college from this country. He wasn’t nice kid. Always talked about how they kill cats their. And their are highly Muslim. I also had another friend badk in college she was nice. But the exchange student he was a bit crazy and didn’t sound normal. I wouldn’t want to visit I have no interest.
Hai love your video, shout-out me sometimes on your video
