    What people need to understand is we have built houses and encroached on the land where our wildlife have their homes. They are trying to find a place to live. It's called survival. I was on my way to work one morning ( I go to work at 5am) and saw an adult racoon in the drain pipe on the side road. I stayed in my car and my headlights were shining in the drain pipe. I took pictures of the racoon 🦝 peeking its head out looking at me. So cute!! Bless your hearts for the work you do. Thank you for taking the time to film it. If I'm feeling down I always know how to lift my spirits. Watch one of your videos! Those raccoons are so cute!! 🦝

    Oh, I love raccoons ❤ - and the babies are soooooo cute ❤!!!! Your work is so amazing and I really love your rescues 💕.... Here in Germany raccoons are considered intruders and are often hunted 😢.... As I have mentioned on one of your other videos I have been visited by two raccoons (Zorro and Zora) some time ago eating away the food of my cats.... I really hope they are doing well since I have not seen them in a while 😢

    These videos never get old. Baby raccoons and baby foxes are my favorites. Thank you Gates family for being so compassionate. The moms don’t mean to cause destruction it’s just there are more warm attics available to have babies in than woodlands to nest in.

    Another super episode ….I must say I’ve noticed how much more a shallower pitch you seem to use on Canadian roofs than what we use here in the U.K. where the angle used is a lot more acute and ergo gives a little more headroom in the attic….we also don’t use tar shingles so no “Iron Maiden” 1000’s of roof nails threatening to impale your head neither…..viva la difference

    That was one determined mom, ravaging every roof vent until she found one she could rip off. Looked like that vent had only one corner screw into it - only one enlarged hole from a screw either ripping through or over-tightened to that extent. Roofers in areas with attic-loving critters need to properly secure those things.

      I know your question is old but it’s a good question and I’d like to know the answer to it. Now that I think about it, she finds her babies snuggled away safely in the box and I’d be surprised if none of the mother raccoons never tried to just live in the box now that the babies were relocated there.

      I’ve watched one episode where they had to relocate the mom and babies immediately. She had given birth to her litter inside a trash a right outside a hospital.
      They got the babies in the white box and momma in a steel trap. Then they relocated them a few blocks away beside a pond. They opened the box and trap side by side and the mom went right into the box with the babies. They left for the day and when they came back the next day the momma and the babies were still in the box.
      After they came back the momma decided to move out of the box.

    I don't understand why you don't relocate the mother and babies to the woods some where, she is just going to destroy someone elses house.

    • @andrealauer4493
      @andrealauer4493 2 года назад +2

      There are laws in Ontario that prevent wildlife from being moved more than I think 1km away. Plus, the mothers usually have another backup den nearby. If they just dumped the family in the woods they'd be exposed to the elements & not familiar with nearby food/water sources - not a good scenario when you have babies.
      It's not a guarantee that they will damage someone else's house. There's millions of raccoons, squirrels, skunks etc in Toronto. They don't all inhabit man made structures
