Thank you for your great reviews. I really like how you check out the quality of the speakers, which is important to me in a laptop. You point out areas I'm interested in, and unfortunately, this laptop has too many negatives for me.
I can see many compromises there to fit its slim body, but have to admit that the aesthetics is charming. 17 inch size is never an option to me cause it's too large to get into my backpack. I'm satisfied with full-size arrow keys even if they shoved the right shift key which I rarely use. Meanwhile I agree with you that it's a shame that they don't get secondary function lit up on keycaps .
My first laptop was an Alienware… I was super excited. Everything looked so good… but I hsd to return it twice, because it literally wouldn’t play any of my games. I don’t remember what it said, but the customer service and tech squad couldn’t figure it out, and it happened with both of them. So I just got an asus republic of gamers laptop and I’ve had it for 8 years.
I ordered my x15 today was hard making up my mind but will be my first gaming laptop so Honestly even if it’s lacking it will prob feel like heaven to me lol But also I wanted an Alienware since I was a kid so why not start small with this x15 qhd screen and a 3070 with 1 tb 🙏🏻🤟
@brayan lezama, send it back and order a Legion 5 Pro with a RTX 3070. You won't regret it and upgrade the RAM, which is the only flaw, they put a SingleRank memory that reduces fps by 10%. Another advantage is the GPU with 140W TGP while Alienware is 110W (90+20). With all this you still have some money in your pocket, lol.

But now I'm waiting for refund and dipping eyes on the reviews just to make sure that alienware x15 isn't another thin disaster. Please let us know the quality of yours when it arrives.
the XPS 9500 is very hit and miss! you have no idea how many customers still bring faulty trackpads to me to fix! such a shame as it is a lovely looking machine
@@MashITTech touchpad isn't worst issue for me. Touchpad's one side was much more sensitive to press than the other side I could live with that touch pad voble issue for e.g., but worst issues was: really bad bleeding at the bottom sides, speaker noises, hinges didn't close the lid fully, some noise from inside when lifted. I think the usb 4 makes up for the lack of ports. There's enough ports if you're on the go in my opinion, but when you dock the laptop at home, everything can be used through USB 4, the monitor, keyboard, external storage, mouse, etc... So it's literally a dock and play system which makes this so much more convenient
@@MashITTech I commented first !! now 😂 I’m watching video because i was so curious and waiting for X15 first impression video and guess what ?? MASH IT has nailed it ! Once again, much appreciated 🤝
Hey thanks for the video! I received my x15 and really love it! One tip I’ll give is that the default audio profile sounds really bad and tinny on the x15. Try some of the other ones as they’re huge improvements! Still not as good as other laptops though.
Feels like they could have added a few more ports in the back as there was certainly room in the X15. The annoying thing is I would want something in the middle of X15 and X17. Maybe like a X16 that gives the benefits of both? Take the speakers and ports from the X17 and the 1440p screen from the X15.
Seems some people on Reddit are having issues with this new keyboard. I personally feel like they should've kept the old keyboard, even if it made it slightly bigger. I agree on the layout as well, I'm a full size right shift fan, so these new keyboards are super unfortunate for me.
I am lucky enough to have had no keyboard issues! that said, I am not a fan of the layout as I mentioned! why didn't they just keep the m15r4 layout? that was an amazing keyboard
This one looks better with that keyboard, I wish they somehow managed to squeeze a numpad on the x17. I guess a guy can't get everything. I hope mine gets into production soon, can't wait.
I am hoping your review will help me get over the lack of ports. I really prefer the X15 QHD screen with gysnc over the X17 options as this will be mainly used for gaming on the go.

The panel on the x15 is better despite them both being 1440p. I also prefer intel 11th and 12th gen over risen for gaming but risen is better for battery. For me I would take the x15 but I do also like the omen
I don’t think that’s a standard unboxing knife 😂 great review as always! Definitely going for the X17. Don’t understand why they have to make the ram so complicated, just use the same ram for all the models.
I regretted not getting the “lunar light” when I purchased my 17 R3. But now I think the lunar light with the black tron, or what ever that entire hinge is called looks horrible. The x is gorgeous
Undervolt guide for the m15 is almost the same, here it is: Undervolt your M15 R4/M17 R4 with throttle stop to improve Temps and Performance! ruclips.net/video/SYWkheY6x4g/видео.html the 11th gen don’t undervolt as much so aim for 50-70mv. I have also shown this in my x17 deep dive video where I not only show the 11800 undervolt but also the fact that dell left it unlocked so it can be overclocked 👍
Can you specify what materials are used for the chassis? Outside, top, bottom, inside. Is it all-Aluminium body, or some alloy, plastic, or combination ...?
Yea the port selection is a drag because the Blade 14 is smaller and gives you 2 A's, 2 C's and an HDMI 2.1. Also that symmetry or lack thereof. My biggest annoyance though when I was customizing this was they don't let you add the cherry mx keyboard upgrade when they offer it on the m17x and also the m15R5 Ryzen edition. For a flagship model it does cut a lot of corners. I would probably be sitting here waiting for my m15x if they had allowed me to add on the cherry mx keyboard because that was one of the things I was really looking forward to on a laptop. After that I started checking out other notebooks and landed on the Razer Blade 14 3070.
I hope they can just keep offering both options, like how they do their desktops. I like Intel personally, but I like the idea of offering the same specs, but with 2 different processor models for those who prefer AMD.
Why does it seem like it can't be opened with one hand? Anyway, hope you include the TDP for each card as you did with the x17 in the full review. Looking forward to it.
Damn it ! Soldered ram !!! Why can nothing be perfect ?! Awesome review as usual mate ! What would u pick between the entry level x15 R1 or the m15r5 with 3070 and ryzen 9 ? Currently standing at the same price.
Oh come on man this lacks a lot of features like ports, mech keyboard, good speakers when compared to x17. Can we atleast expect good thermals and performance?
Yes it really does and the soldered ram. I would always get the 17" over a 15" anyway but this is a really tough sell, you must really need portability to buy this over the 17"
@@MashITTech I agree with you from a gaming perspective the x17 is just better on pretty much every level (except no QHD screen). I chose the X15 because it fits my need to have a portable work station that I can also game on. I’m not playing triple A titles on ultra, I just need them to run at decent FPS. I need to be able to put the laptop in a bag and carry it around when I’m working remotely. I see alienware prioritized updating the 240W power brick as well since I’m not sure the 3080 makes a lot of sense on the X15. Honestly I was going to get a Razer Blade 15 (I had it in my cart) but saw the X15 and decided to opt for this one given the better quality/customer service.
While doing a comparison video of x15 and x17 can you also talk about the build quality of these two. Because i heard that x15 has a cnc milled aluminum chassis where as x17 doesn't.
I just got an m15 with a 3070 few months back. How different is this? Im kind of liking my keyboard more, fans and case otherwise seem to be identical.
@@MashITTech Sweet. I must admit a twinge of remorse when I saw they brought back the glowing trackpad. My other alienware is from like 2017 or so and has it (:
What? Did I hear correct? Replaceable wifi card in the much smaller and thinner x15 but soldered wifi card in the bigger x17. Most likely because Dell think the X15 will be prefered for the people on the move due the less weight and more portability. Also the 15 inch Razerbook have upgradable wifi-card. Hence the need for replaceable/upgradeable wifi-card in the smaller model? I wonder if the x17 buyers now will feel a bit let down with Dell's way to diffrenciate the two models. And thanks for the video.
As always with Dell some really odd choices! For me the port selection really lets it down, I mean 1 USB on a gaming laptop is a big no no for me personally. Looking forward to getting some hands on time with the thermals and performance this weekend
Ah man.. im glad this review came out.. I have an external audio DAC.. and when it comes to audio qualitu, the shorter the circuit.. the better.. now i know with just 1 usb slot.. this laptop is not for me.. i want something smaller than a 17 inch though.. so i guess i will look elsewhere.. maybe the ROG M16?
@@MashITTech how are the hinges holding up on the new models? I know the old models cracked real bad and Lenovo’s response was to fumble around in the dark like a drunk old man.
Good video, which you can say of a comparison of the Alienware X15 and the Lenovo Legion i7 the new one, which you can say which is of better construction and which would be for the best laptop
@@MashITTech I explained badly, which is better between the Alienware x 15 and the Lenovo Legion of this year, build quality and as a more complete laptop, for you which is better
ah sorry, now I understand. the x15 will are more portable but IMHO the legion 7 is a lot more laptop for the money! better CPU, better GPU TGP, better screen, better ports, upgradable battery. the Legion 7 is one of the best laptops out this year
@@MashITTech If I see that the Lenovo has better capacity, but I was seeing that it also has some problems, such as the rgb of the keyboard is making the battery consume more, also the chassis of the lenovo legion although it is made of aluminum is very poorly manufactured, the trackpad has a lot of flex and the chassis has a lot of flex, the Alienware for me is better manufactured, I was also seeing the HP OMen 16 2021 it looks very good─ thanks for the information
Hey, this is great man. Thanks :) Good to know the ram is soldered on, if I got this I'd opt for the 32 gig model. Still has more ports than my MacBook pro ... haha xD Would be nice to know what type of ram is being used ( including the 32 gig version if anyone can answer that ) and how linux support is. Nice to see the SSds can be upgraded.
I feel like the connectivity port placement accounts for the thickness of the cables/ dongles - and the micro usb at the top makes it easy to find.. but
Awesome review! Struggling with x15 and x17 and it's great to see this video! The X15 only has 32gb ram, but the X17 3080 has a giant power adapter......Nothing perfect......
no, that was one of the massive benefits of the 4 fan X series the keyboard stays cool! This is really important to me too so I actually mentioned it in my review
I wish they made this laptop in a lower profile unibody-like design. I can't justify taking a laptop like this in business settings, otherwise, I'd be all over this.
Just out of curiosity how long did it take for this laptop to be delivered? I ordered an x17 on June 30th and it has yet to move into production according to the order status as of last week
@@MashITTech hopefully it's within the time frame I was given (by the week of the 19th and in the US) ... I've heard it could take longer than 4 weeks not only because of the amount of customization but also due to shortage of certain materials and such
I am concerned at the fact I bought the x15 R1 when the R2 has lpddr5 and 12th gen. Do you think my laptop will still be future proof for the next 5 years?
No not all. They stopped using that a couple of years ago, now it is a high endurance coating and seems to stand up well and it’s not a finger print magnet like a razer
This is one of the best looking laptops I’ve seen! Along with the XPS line and Razer’s silver laptops!
For a gaming laptop the performance is godly and the designs are so high tech
Hopefully it'll be as affordable as it can be seeing some compromises like slightly lower TDP GPU. Other than that pretty decent of a product if you ask me.

What would u pick between the entry level x15 R1 or the m15r5 with 3070 and ryzen 9 ? Currently standing at the same price.
Let me test the thermals and benchmarks and I will come back and answer you. Need a bit of hands on time with it :)
The best seal cutting ever I have seen LOL
Oh come on man this lacks a lot of features like ports, mech keyboard, good speakers when compared to x17. Can we atleast expect good thermals and performance?
Yes it really does and the soldered ram. I would always get the 17" over a 15" anyway but this is a really tough sell, you must really need portability to buy this over the 17"
@@MashITTech but at this point if you need the portability, there are much better options than this.
I ordered my 17 with the cherry mechanical keyboard option for 50 bucks extra
well worth it!
Thanks for the video :)
Do you know if the case is made of magnesium alloy or plastic?
It is magnesium alloy, it is VERY solid
Good to know, thanks :)
While doing a comparison video of x15 and x17 can you also talk about the build quality of these two. Because i heard that x15 has a cnc milled aluminum chassis where as x17 doesn't.
Thanks for the request. I will certainly look at that for you
Just noticed that the rubber feet are white, are they easy to clean? Great review btw.
thanks. I just give them a wipe with a wet wipe every now and again and they come up a treat!
I just got an m15 with a 3070 few months back. How different is this? Im kind of liking my keyboard more, fans and case otherwise seem to be identical.
your keyboard is better, you have more ports and yours is more powerful, IMHO you made a good choice
@@MashITTech Sweet. I must admit a twinge of remorse when I saw they brought back the glowing trackpad. My other alienware is from like 2017 or so and has it (:
Yes and annoyingly you have to order the 3080 to get it!
Wow, is this the slimmest Alienware?
I like the look of the ROG M16 but I hate the port placement, they are all shoved near the front of the laptop
@biggy have you looked at the new Legions with their 16” screens? They’re supposed to be pretty good.
I reviewed the legion 5 pro and legion 7, amazing laptops for the price
@@MashITTech how are the hinges holding up on the new models? I know the old models cracked real bad and Lenovo’s response was to fumble around in the dark like a drunk old man.
well they have been reinforced this year but with all these issues they take a while to surface. So far so good and feels rock solid
I love the design!, please let me know which one is better, Alienware X15 or Legion 5 Pro? Because I think Legion 5 Pro has a nice design too!
Yep, comparison video coming soon
@@MashITTech nice!!
Here I thought M15 R5 ports were underwhelming
the X15 R1 ports are disappointing
Good video, which you can say of a comparison of the Alienware X15 and the Lenovo Legion i7 the new one, which you can say which is of better construction and which would be for the best laptop
Is this the new model i7 11800h? I have not even seen it listed here!
@@MashITTech I explained badly, which is better between the Alienware x 15 and the Lenovo Legion of this year, build quality and as a more complete laptop, for you which is better
ah sorry, now I understand. the x15 will are more portable but IMHO the legion 7 is a lot more laptop for the money! better CPU, better GPU TGP, better screen, better ports, upgradable battery. the Legion 7 is one of the best laptops out this year
@@MashITTech Thanks
@@MashITTech If I see that the Lenovo has better capacity, but I was seeing that it also has some problems, such as the rgb of the keyboard is making the battery consume more, also the chassis of the lenovo legion although it is made of aluminum is very poorly manufactured, the trackpad has a lot of flex and the chassis has a lot of flex, the Alienware for me is better manufactured, I was also seeing the HP OMen 16 2021 it looks very good─ thanks for the information
What's that animated wallpaper at the end of the video????
Hey, this is great man. Thanks :) Good to know the ram is soldered on, if I got this I'd opt for the 32 gig model. Still has more ports than my MacBook pro ... haha xD
Would be nice to know what type of ram is being used ( including the 32 gig version if anyone can answer that ) and how linux support is.
Nice to see the SSds can be upgraded.
I will certainly be able to confirm that in the full review but by my initial benchmarks it looks like low density which is good news :)
How if only Dell could deliver these on time. Had my order delayed by a couple of weeks :(
I'd love to unbox the same for my Machine Learning projects but alas
Too expensive?
@@MashITTech yeah
I feel like the connectivity port placement accounts for the thickness of the cables/ dongles - and the micro usb at the top makes it easy to find.. but
You may be right but it certainly is unusual 😃
The alien in charge of aligning the ports on the back was drunk.
haha yeah, no idea what was going on there
Awesome review! Struggling with x15 and x17 and it's great to see this video! The X15 only has 32gb ram, but the X17 3080 has a giant power adapter......Nothing perfect......
I know! sometimes I feel like they do it on purpose :(
Quick question does the w,a,s,d heat up when playing games like other m15’s? Was thinking of upgrading and my m15 gets really hot on those keys.
no, that was one of the massive benefits of the 4 fan X series the keyboard stays cool! This is really important to me too so I actually mentioned it in my review
I wish they made this laptop in a lower profile unibody-like design. I can't justify taking a laptop like this in business settings, otherwise, I'd be all over this.
This looks good for business imo
@@Qjemuse just turn off the RGB and it's all good
Just out of curiosity how long did it take for this laptop to be delivered?
I ordered an x17 on June 30th and it has yet to move into production according to the order status as of last week
I received all of mine in 3 weeks. almost to the day. Mine went into production almost straight away but then sat there for ages
@@MashITTech hopefully it's within the time frame I was given (by the week of the 19th and in the US) ... I've heard it could take longer than 4 weeks not only because of the amount of customization but also due to shortage of certain materials and such
Are you going to try out the new m15 r6 ?
I am sure I will soon, they only just released it in the UK and all my budget this month went on the X series
I am concerned at the fact I bought the x15 R1 when the R2 has lpddr5 and 12th gen. Do you think my laptop will still be future proof for the next 5 years?
11th gen is still a great cpu especially for gaming. And ddr5 doesn't really do much at the moment. You should still be good for a few years
Whats the paint finish like? Is it does rubbery material that gets sticky over time?
No not all. They stopped using that a couple of years ago, now it is a high endurance coating and seems to stand up well and it’s not a finger print magnet like a razer
@@MashITTech I see, looking forward for the benchmarks! Awesome videos fam much appreciated!
Hey hi
Wanted to know.. once fully charged how many working hours u will get. A approximate time.
Thanks
I am still benchmarking but will run the battery tests tomorrow and include in the review which should be out tomorrow evening U.K. time
@@MashITTech great thank you. Will be looking forward to it.
I just ordered mine in US 🇺🇸 x15
Which do you think is better? ASUS M16 or X15? I’ve to pick one up soon
Let me have a bit of hands on time then I will come back to you on this one 👍
@@MashITTech Okay
Awesome review
thank you :)
are you planning for a review of M15 R6?
They only just came out in UK, as soon as I recoup some cash I will order one
I ordered mine i9, 32gb, 2tb harddrives, 8gb GC
Where did you get that wallpaper from?
If you check out my m15r5 review the link to that wallpaper is in the description 👍
i want to buy the best laptop ...my budget is 5 lakhss.....please suggest me wht to do
holy crap you got 374k views on this lol, did the adsense cover the cost of the laptop?
haha I wish, the rpm was only £1.17 😥 still even at that low rpm we made more on this video than most others :)
@Mash IT damn alright lol, well I guess these views are a nice indicator of where your channel is headed if you keep up the great content 👍
Can you please, please, please do a side by side size comparison with a 13" MacBook pro
Yes sure, leave it with me
@@MashITTech Thank you so much, I love your videos, You really are a great person
if there is an opportunity in future videos, compare the dimensions of the macbook pro and x15
Yes, I have a MacBook Pro 13 I can compare it with
@@MashITTech
Thank you
Thanks for this!
Would love to see a few comments comparing this to the Razer Blade 15
I have a razer blade advanced 2020 so I can do a comparison video.
短刀、本当すごいですね✨
Edit: and if i close my eyes it's like Ricky Gervais was showing me his new laptop. Awesome
Haha that made me smile! I wish I was as funny as Ricky
Compare x15 R1 vs M15 R4
I am comparing the X17 vs M17r4 but I haven't got an m15r4 in the office at the moment :(
