- Looking for a cheap boat? In this week's video Adrian build a boat for under $200 from an IBC and scrap found in the bin. The ultimate boat on a budget!
Here is the video on fixing the engine that was kindly donated by Project Brupeg ( / projectbrupeg ) • Mercury 3.3HP Outboard...

The most expensive component in that build was the Sikaflex
Fortunately we only needed one tube. I think the most expensive component was beer. ;)
@@DangarMarine No you can't count the beer as a component. It's a consumable like oil and grease 😁
They stole that from Brupeg, so net cost of $0.
Probably spent more on zipties ;-).
Other people will be looking and probably saying this guy is crazy, not knowing he is the master at rebuilding boats
Those people can say he is crazy and others can say, No he's a master boat rebuilder and both be right. :)
Beat me to it. 😏
The Adrain-Stucraft is guaranteed to become a very sought after marine vessel
We don't like to be elitist, but in this case. ;)
should auction it for a charity.....
I was going to go for a fish till I saw you fellas testing that monstrosity. Was hilarious to watch in person
I completed a Naval Architecture Certificate, but I never dreamt of creating the lines plan for such a remarkably efficient combination of recycling and beauty into the ultimate, go-anywhere vessel. You guys deserve more than you get.
I don't know why but this was a fun video to watch. Two very talented guys making a boat out of scraps and trash like every little boys dream. Keep it up.
Thanks Kevin!
Loved it. Two "BIG KIDS", The bodies have grown up, but the minds haven't.🤣
That's how it should be!
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
Brilliant, just brilliant. Seeing Marine Rescue cruise by was the icing on the cake.
They had just finished towing a larger boat in which made heading back in under our own steam feel very satisfying. :)
As a pleasure craft, it hits the mark. Both of you had huge smiles, telling us it was pure pleasure! Well done guys.
Thanks Gavin!
Finally a boat I can afford to maintain!!! 👍👍👍👍
There had to be one somewhere. ;)
@@DangarMarine yes sir!! 👍🤣😂
So looking forward to all the upcoming projects. Great to see and Adrian working so well on together on a fun project. Who would have thought an engine rebuild on Renko would lead to this. Priceless
You never know where live will lead you!
It created one great freindship
The Ade & Stu show is the best thing on YT these days, thank you both!
Glad you enjoyed!
To kind thanks 😊
You guys are hilarious! Starting with "We're often asked about a $150k car-and-boat package but the car we want is $149,800" lol :) I thought the innovations were constant and terrific! Why aren't commercial boats built with cable ties & sika-flex I wonder? Would save heaps! "I'm not sure we're getting the best out of the Mercury" haha lol the hits just kept on coming . . .
Comedy Gold Stu keep it up & I'll keep watching!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed. :)
OMFG..........I was gonna buy a Yacht to sail around the world in. Now, I've just ordered an IBC.........
Thanks, you just saved me a fortune.........
It's a service we provide. ;)
You guys are legends!! We saw Renko at anchor in Frying Pan bay, she looks awesome. We made our way over a few days later with a carton of Coopers and a bottle of rum but she was gone. We'll hopefully get down your way when the water clears up to make the delivery.
Thanks Troy, next time!
We do stuff like this, but there is usually a lot LOT more beer involved! Awesome job guys.
Right on!
I don't know, I'm not convinced those expanding foam beer cans used for stabilisation were the only ones consumed . . . :)
Brilliant! The cable ties are in the finest of traditional boat-building, truly beautiful. And casting off by cutting the cable tie--elegant.
Amazing how serious you are staying although Adrian's face says it all.
I was giggling 🤭 whole time inside
fully sika 😂 don't know how you kept a straight face all through the vid
Love it!!!
;)
With that bow you have the beginnings of an air boat. Drop the Mercury and find a cheap aero engine. I'm sure Adrian could get his hands on one. Just imagine the carnage... 😎
That would be pretty cool. :)
I bought my 95 16’ sea nymph last year for $1500. I think I over paid now when I see what I could have made with $200
We are tempted to weld 4 or 5 IBCs together to make a 16 footer and see if we can get it to plane with the 40HP I am currently rebuilding. :)
@@DangarMarine please please pretty please 🙏
@Dangar Marine With the stitch and glue method?
Might need a vented prop to get it up to rpm so you've got some power to shove it up on plane, but why not?
You two are hilarious together. This video had me laughing the whole time... the 17 people who thumbs down this have no sense of humor I tell you.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed. :)
I was waiting for that gearbox to strip at any moment. I'd love to see the onlookers expressions.
I particularly like the non-skid on the bow. Oh, and you held the life jacket up twice for the rescue boat. Clever.
The double-show is an okay but a goodie. ;)
looks as though you need some more ballast in that vessel and some home made pontoons made out of plastic pipe than she won't be so tippy. Seeing the rescue boat not even bother to investigate to make sure it was a proper vessel was just priceless. That's when Stu's and Adrian's smiles just got larger and larger which means its a win win in my book.
Need to lash a couple of fenders port and starboard for stability. There's heaps floating around Danger at the moment.
Legend of Adrian returns!
Reminds me of a misspent youth with a Hiace roof and a seagull 40plus. Good on yous.
Boat $200
Safety gear $400
Thumbs up from marine rescue, priceless
LOL
"Flat bottomed boats, you make this rocking world go round"!
cheers Stu.
LOL
Adrian, Stu ... you guys are completely insane! HOWEVER, this is one of the most entertaining and informative pieces of broadcasting I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
Are you serious guys? This is one of the most hilarious videos ever. Could I give 10 thumbs up that I would. That was a great moment... but I'm still not sure I would board for a ride in your new... "boat". Really, I don't know. Maybe I will stick to my inflatable canoe for now, until you add some more beer cans around for better stability!
Nice move guys.
Definitely needs more beer cans. ;)
pure gold, just proves you can do anything if you have enough beer
I don't even want a stabicraft anymore, give me that magnificent vessel 😂
Your hired. See you at the factory next week
LOL. Thanks Jason!
Well done fellas , I remember as a kid making a boat out of a 44 gallon drum , by cutting it in half length ways - worked well
Glad to hear you got out there and had adventures!
always love the adventures with adrian
Great, love to see more cheap boat building. Great fun by the looks
I'm so happy and sad at the same time this was all filmed at my local ramp.
Walking the dog the other week I noticed a moored boat but didn't think much of it until a few minutes later when the thought RENKO popped into my mind. Had to call the wife to let her know about my celebrity find.
Good to see the boat I watched go from a rusty hull to what it is today so close to home.
Thanks mate!
Should have woke Damian up so he could whip up some stabilizer wings for the old girl. lol
This is my cup of tea! Doing experiments with scraps is cool! Keep it up guys.
Maritime: "Where you from?"
Stu: "Dangar Island"
Maritime: Rolls eyes...
Yeah, pretty much. ;)
OMG i want one. going to the international boat show soon. Its a must have. haha. beautiful effort guys.
Hilarious work. Love it. The deadpan delivery was perfect.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking forward to it all.
Should is the right question!!! You guys are fun
You are the Catweezle of marine engineering! Just what we needed some fun on RUclips for a change, well done guys!!!
From Darwin
Thank you very much!
I’ve not watched the channel for a while and this popped up. Hilarious! Attention to detail is everything. 👍🏻👊🏻
Welcome back! :)
Super!!!! Reliving childhood fun!!!
Now, THIS is the content I subscribed for!
Well, it is an educational channel after all. ;)
Just wanted to say, keep up the good job, I love your videos 👍👍 You often make progress alot easier and straight forward to understand 👍
You two are having way too much fun.
Thank god. Somebody who calls them cable ties and not zip ties
Riviera needs to get you two on their design team!! 😁😆
I've been saying it for years. ;)
@@DangarMarine 😆😆
Very nice! You and Adrian are great together! Hilarious!!
Thanks mate.
Great content. Thanks for sharing
reminds me of my corrugated iron canoe now sitting on the bottom of the georges river my first artificial reef
At least you had a go!
It amazes me the stuff thats chucked away [
Particularly the skips at a boat yard like where Brupeg is at. So much seems to come out of boats and just go in the bin...
This is what happens when Stu says Hold my beer lol
That’s bloody awesome, great job fellas 👍
Brilliant. Great work guys!
Thanks mate.
well you won the internet for me today.. funny guys😂
Thanks mate!
You two had way too much fun!! 🤣
Classic, and to think I wasted my money buying a manky old tinny on the council auction for $70! Given what it took to keep the water on the outside, Fully Sika would have been a good name, but She'll be Right worked too.
You two are legends!!! 🙌🏻🤣
Brilliant!!!
LOOKIN' GOOD, NICE JOB, KEEP SAFE,,
Warne would be proud of your Fender/Bouyancy Devices.
I hope so!
I have actually done similar things with my mates as a teenager, some of the best and most fun times of my life👍
Things like this with mates and the laughs 🤭 make it priceless
Brilliant Stuart
Thanks Graham!
So you mean all those videos about Renko..... was unnecessary to watch? We could have a boat for 200 dollars? Now I am in a desperate need of a beer 😋 next challenge make a boat from empty beer bottles 😇
Btw: nice built!
Oh that lean pop sounds awesome!!
Y'all had way too much fun here!
"Honey, you'll never believe what I saw today down at the river."
that's the way to have fun, and as a bonus I do not feel to bad about my boat now lol
Glad we could help. ;)
Basically perfect...... Gold!
what a great beer idea 😂🎉
Well done, made my day.
Hilarious!
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Impressive amount of cavitation, perhaps add a bubble bath injection system :-D
LOL
This was fantastic.
Thanks mate.
Do you think you could do a video of this little beasty going out to Lion Island and back to Dangar Island please? Seriously you guys are the Laurel and Hardy of the marine world
You two are couple goofs...I love it. Cheers From Oklahoma
Great Vid. You guys had way too much fun.
It was a good laugh. :)
When's the sea trials? One life jacket, my money's on Adrian.
Nah, I would just point and say, "Hey look, a Detroit!" and grab the jacket while he was distracted.
It may not be the safest, but looked like a bagfull of fun
It was a good laugh to cruise around in. :)
I suppose the next logical question.....is how many IBC s do ya need to cable tie together to take a detroit 🤣🤣 absolute comedy gold lads the rescue boat thumbs up was the icing on the cake
The prettiest welds I've seen fellas. lol
Brilliant. You guys are awesome together!! Xxxxxxx
Thanks!
You two are stark raving brilliant !!!😁
Hi guys I just love your banter love to come and spend a week or two with you guys you’re always having lots of fun when you’re doing anything but making this $200 boat keep up all the good work love your videos Cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed.
Thanks 😊 wish everyday was this fun lol
I must admit. I enjoy the epilogue with every video .. Kind regards
Alex
Thanks Alex. :)
Glad to see that relocating the seats on the transom did the trick - still can’t believe you managed to stay afloat on that first sea trial :-).
I recall that on your land trip home that the truck was full of Detroits ---- which means that that Damien fellow must have kept your boat! Probably insisted that the sand container was originally his or some such rubbish.... Well, now that Brupeg is almost finished, I expect to see it tied to the stern or lashed to the deck above his forecastle. Nice work! PS: I don't know if you realize this, but you can drill a hole in the back towards the bottom and put in a small rubber 'flapper'. Then, when you get up to speed the suction created sucks the water out and it becomes an automatic bailer.
The truck had the Detroits and this boat, we only filmed the final section this Easter weekend. Yes, venturi bailers they are called.
I love it! LOL! A boat that doubled as a test tank! Aussie innovation at its best! You guys are awesome. LOL!
Thanks mate!
Best vid yet
Thanks mate. :)
next version you can buy one more tube of sikaflex and make it a glassbottom boat
Would be very cool to see the bottom. :)
haha this is awesome. and a great idea for a series
Thanks!
Now I kinda want to take one of these out on the lake where I live.
Go for it! :)
😂Great, like been kids again just having good fun
Exactly! :)
I have one question where you guys up all night drinking when you had this epiphany of master engineering.
