  • "The Sheik of Araby" is a song that was written in 1921 by Harry B. Smith and Francis Wheeler, with music by Ted Snyder. It was composed in response to the popularity of the Rudolph Valentino feature film The Sheik. In 1926, to go with the film The Son of the Sheik, Ted Snyder worked parts of the melody into "That Night in Araby", a related song with words by Billy Rose.
The Beatles recorded a version of The Sheik Of Araby during their unsuccessful audition for Decca Records on 1 January 1962. The group based their arrangement on a rock 'n' roll version released by Joe Brown and The Bruvvers in 1961. George Harrison was a big fan of Brown, and sang lead vocals on The Beatles' version and The Sheik Of Araby had proved a popular number onstage in Liverpool and Hamburg.
Here I´ve intended to show a possible rendition with the same gear they used to play in 1961/62.
    - Rickenbacker 325 Capri (John)
    - Hofner 500/1 61 bass (Paul)
    - Gretsch 6128 Duojet (George)

"The Sheik of Araby" ~ The Silver Beatles
    Lyrics:
Well I'm the sheik of araby,
    Your love belongs to me.
Well at night where you're asleep,
    Into your tent I'll creep.
    The stars that shine above
Will light our way to love.
You rule this world with me,
    I'm the sheik of araby.
Well I'm the sheik of araby,
    Your love belongs to me.
Oh at night where you're asleep,
    Into your tent I'll creep.
    The sun that shines above
Will light our way to love.
You rule this world with me,
    I'm the sheik of araby.
Well I'm the sheik of araby,
Well I'm the sheik of araby, yeah.

Awesome thanks a lot- any suggestions on how to get more views/ subs in this area? How long did it take for your Cry For A Shadow video to start getting a lot of views? Part of me thinks it’s just having the Rickenbacker and other really accurate guitars, but the majority of people watching this stuff probably don’t care about that a whole lot. Any thoughts?
Also did you have any song requests for my channel?

    • @StuSutcliffe60
      @StuSutcliffe60  6 лет назад

Views/subs are a mistery still...maybe the subject, maybe the spread way you're using ( FB, etc)...I don't have a clue bout Cry's fame....maybe the guitars I think. In fact a lot of views are ok but subs and likes are better...and I don't have to much...hope more in future. Traffic sources page shows that 50% of views are from "suggested videos so YT is helping me hehehe!

Thanks. Well I'm using near bridge pickup, Vox AC 15 with treble all way up, zero bass and little mid. A near mic setup and that's it. I don't think is exactly Johns sound but it's ok.
