- Want to improve your IELTS Writing score? A good strategy is to focus more on IELTS Writing Task 1 than Task 2. Most students overlook Task 1, but it greatly impacts your score.
Try doing Task 2 first, complete it properly in 40 minutes, and then do Task 1 in 20 minutes.
This forces you to focus on the data quickly, and summarise it, which is exactly what they want you to do for IELTS Writing Task 1 Academic.
This is what i did on my last exam and i got 6.5 in writing i didnt get this achievement while i was preparing . Believe me this really works

What to do first task 2 then task 1 ?
This actually worked for me, and it saves time for writing Task 2.

@@Visca.el.Barca.8probably because of analyzing task 1 data. It takes time to make a decision what data to select and make groups but task 2 only gives you a topic and write your essay depending only on your opinions and writing skills about how fast and creative you are. It's totally based on you but task 1 requires information from the chart or tables which needs time to comprehend them
I did task 1 last, for the first time, and it was on test day too. I took a huge risk, and your tip actually worked. Got a 8.5 writing and 8.5 overall, thank you so much!
How you prepared for writing,did you use model answers?
@@shakhrizada2929 i studied lexical resources very heavily for the most common topics. Altho I couldnt use a lot of it, many could be applied for other topics as well, including the one on my test day.
imo model answers are not worth learning. You want to focus on a natural way of developing your own ideas. Memorizing sample essays can be mundane, monotonous, requires a lot of efforts while being superfluous.
also, a good trick is to write your conclusion with a lot of synonyms, so as to effectively recapitulate what you have demonstrated in the body paragraphs. It's best to write as concise as possible, and give a lot of examples too.

I wrote IELTS exam recently. And i listened to this video and wrote task 2 first and ended up having no time to complete task 1and left it incomplete. I ended up getting a band score of 7 in writing . So i don't think this method will work for all. It didn't work for me. Task 1 requires analysis of data and it's more time consuming. I don't personally believe this trick is good. What works for one person might not work for the next. Please do practice tests under a timer and find out what works for you and follow it.
That's exactly thing I told my IELTS teacher but he didn't listen. Only report key features in task 1 instead of writing everything about the chart. Well, he just ignored my words and I quit his class after 2 months.

@@Awakenedlamba mine was a lady and she was mean when i was consulting. I went on to be her student because all I wanted was her service but she was mean in between. They think everything is obvious. She didn’t even teach task 1 and made it look like its just easy. I wrote my exam and didn’t tell her my score even though i passed . I don’t want to feed her ego

I agree with this idea because of my exam experience, I was disappointed myself about task 2, But I still got satisfied band score in writing.

It works the opposite way with me, my brain doesn't work unless I write smtin more simple and visual than task 2

this is true during the 1st attempt I gave task 1 very well and gave task 2 in less time but decent I expected to get 6-6.5 but I got 5 band. But on the second attempt gave my task 2 in 45m 1st 10m part 1 and I've written it very short less than the 150-word count mark and I scored 6 band in writing

@@sukhdevgill5340 so task 1 in writing is the easiest consider to task 2 since in task 1 they give you all the data then youre job is to look at the data and expand it in essay so it should be easy and most of the people attempt part 1 then they go for 2 which i did in my first attempt then in 2nd attempt i attempted part 2 first around 40 min then gave my part 1 around less than 10min and i ended up scoring 6.5 in writting.

@@sukhdevgill5340 if you want to practice speaking i recommend ape uni though it focuses on PTE it has AI scoring for all modules

My entire IELTS score tanked because of the 7.0 I got in writing and made the same mistake. I didn't bother much though, the aggregate was much higher than I needed.

For computer-based candidates, is it possible to do the task 2 first?
It's the opposite for me. I couldn't complete both tasks when I used to solve task 2 first, but prior to the exam,I prepared for a week by doing task 2 first. and got a 7 in writing in the exam.

Yeah that is correct. Recently I took the exam, and after my score, I applied for the breakdown. I got this:

Task 1: 🥲

L/R: 6.0
Overall, it was 7.5
