He joined the Scions specifically to find a really good book. He can tell an entire audience of people his favorite food is cockatrice balls without so much as batting an eye. He is so secret-keeper coded that he's had the weight of the multiple worlds and countless lives placed directly on his conscience twice and he didn't utter a peep either time. He has an insta-death spell. He's a healer. Hades has absolute velcro hooks into my heart but Urianger and Papalymo take up the remaining portions of heart meat I have left. Gentleman's Club.

Lyna English va is so good. That scene after the fight in Lakeland still gets me. Plus her and the exarch have such a lovely family bond. I don’t really care about y’shtola managing world travel. I want to establish it for G’raha and Thancred.
My favourite is Gaius, and he was left out :( He fully acknowledges his past wrongdoings and is actively working to make up for them; even keeping someone nearby to kill him in case he strays from his new path.

Zenos is my favorite, but not because I love villains. I mostly love him because he served as a reality check for the WoL. Everything up to that made us out to be damn near invincible--Zenos, meanwhile, was the "Allow me to retort" bitchslap that, honestly, I respected. I still wanted to finally get that rematch, but I respected it. Also, thiccness is never a bad thing.😁

My favorite character in all of FFXIV, is my own. Though the WoL rarely says much, I've never gotten so attached to a characters story so much. If I had to choose an NPC, it would very easily be Lyna.
Venat and Emet are my favorites and you aren't wrong, that slow walk scene had me in tears and I just wanted to root for her to keep on going. Even thinking back on it now makes me a little teary eyed. Some times the hardest choices are the right ones, and some times you just gotta do what you gotta do.
A shame she never trying any other reasonable option like telling the Convocation the truth before the chaos ensued. Trying to tell grieving people who want to release the souls of their brethren from a primal to suck it up and move on isn’t sufficient.

As sundered souls, we can interact with dynamis much more easily and utilize it against the Endsinger, who’s domain is ruled entirely by dynamis and emotion

As for Dynamis interaction, they could’ve created entelechies that could. Meteion and her sisters were a creation of one ancient after all and look how powerful they turned out to be. That’s not going into the possibility of them sundering a few dozen people purposefully so they can interact with Dynamis and send them to UT. There’s nothing in game to contradict those options and they actually correlate with previous lore in SHB and such. Imo they didn’t make the point they wanted to make good enough.
My favorite is Ardbert. I usually can't cry, like literally, but to loose him... this absolutely made me cry. I absolutely loved his (german) voice. It was so comforting and I seriously miss it so much, that I think about it to start Shadowbringers again. (even if I haven't finished Endwalker yet)

I feel so called out with the Yotsuyu one, especially considering the fact that I wrote Tsuyu into my character's story. I'm going to charge you a mortgage, since you basically live in my head.
My favorite character is Emet-Selch, but I would tie him with my second favorite character, Lahabrea, and third favorite character, Elidibus. I think each of them is a charismatic and powerful antagonist despite each suffering some mishandling at the hands of the writers. I struggle to call them outright villains since their motives are noble and the fact that they were put into situation they were is thanks to actions of Hermes and Venat. They don’t need to be fixed or helped, they don’t need to be taught to move on, they are wonderful as they are and I would do the same in their shoes. Rip the Unsundered, it’s incredibly sad that they had to die knowing they accomplished nothing.
I'm pretty sure if you're responsible universal genocide eight times, you're a bad guy. (And I say this as someone who considers Emet-Selch their favorite character.)

Been a while since I played ffxiv, however, I was very happy you've mentioned Raubahn at 4:45. I loved many of the characters here but always felt he was a bit underappreciated and would have loved to see more of him (in every way)
Currently post-heavensward. I kinda liked Nero tol scaeva's growth during the crystal tower alliance raids. I hope he comes back later on in the story ad an ally
While I was thinking which characters might be my favorite (and I don`t think I can pick one singular), I didn`t think of those. And yes, I found Feo Ul to be very enjoyable in her scenes. She is just funny as hell. Personally I do prefer Godbert to Hildi. But they are both funny on their own right, and would not work as well without the other.
Lahabrea’s my favorite because my conspiracy corkboard takes up an entire wall and I can analyze that dude’s psychology for hours without taking a break. I’ve analyzed shot framing, arc projection, narrative structure, trial songs/mechanics, dungeon and random NPC lore details, scenery, seasonal events, ancient society/culture, Zoarastrianism, Kabbalah, Jungian psychology, and more that ties into what’s up with him. I am just a step short of reading the future in tea leaves and planetary positions here. Was not surprised by the Abyssos reveals and have been looking under every rock for Lahabrea to return in MSQ since Endwalker kicked off. I get sincerely sad for the dude, he needs a ton of therapy. I’ve loved him to bits before having any clue what he looked like and at this point he could literally show up with a paper bag on his head and I’d be delighted. Some fans specifically like sad older guys. Some vibe with his tired energy. Some think he cackles in ARR because he’s the flat villain who will do whatever the plot demands. Others think he hasn’t slept in five days, is hysterical, and can barely string a thought together. In Toto-Rak, Lahabrea made an excuse that he only sounds incoherent because sundered language sucks upon realizing the Warrior understands Ancient, talked in a complete circle about bedtime (using five different synonyms for interesting), threw a bug at the Warrior, and ran away. Could be iffy writing but could also be the guy’s a loser nerd who lost control of his life and is trying his best to seem intimidating. I think he’s been done real dirty from the moment he showed up onscreen and is due to return anytime now.
My favorites are Haurchefant, Hythlodaeus, and Erenville. I'm sweet, friendly, and like people who are kind, competent, and emotionally mature. I also like Urianger because he's a lot like me- seems very aloof and put together/mysterious, but is secretly a massive dork who gets easily flustered. Funnily enough, I am an artist just like you guessed!
I feel so called out for Emet, but I’m sad no Lyna was mentioned, as she was what made me a Viera honestly, and I truly appreciate her dynamic with us and G’raha. Still a good list though Avy.,
Emet-Selch will always be my favourite, I just love sarcastic villains with tragic back stories. Not to mention the whole [[SPOILER INCOMING YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! -->]] WoL being a sundered version of someone he knew and was close to, that just writes romantic plots all by itself and then leaves you emotionally devasted :D.... T_T I miss him.
I would say my favorite character in the story is my own WoL and my friend's WoL. Their slice of life romantic story, partially revolving around the MSQ - sometimes heavily when we pass through expansions - is so vibrant and full of personality and affection. While it might be just Roleplay/Fanfic, it gives them the dimensions the MSQ doesn't really give. I haven't been all that invested in the story as the times when me and my friend fully roleplay through it, bickering and flirting and turning one off locations into memorable ones by just having our characters interact differently than if they were to be going through the story solo.
Thancred: More I LOVE Percy from TLoVM and his VA {Talesin Jaffe) was Thancred's VA in ARR. Urianger: I like nerdy guys (see Percy comment from earlier).
Need to do a shout out for one of my big faves, Stephanivien de Haillenarte, the machinist job trainer. He is full of entusiasm and questionable decisions and definitely on the spectrum and I adore him. (also I have a fun crack!inventor OT3 with him, Cid and Nero. 😛) Love your videos! 💜

Psyched you mentioned Cirina, she's definitely one of my favorites. Lots of people have mentioned other missed ones for a possible round 2, but I'll add some more. Kurenai: I loved the Ruby Princess quests, and when they finished I was honestly bummed that I couldn't find her character in-world. When I found out she was a custom deliveries character I was very psyched to see her again. Hilda: Liked her in Heavensward, wished they'd used her in more scenes.
My favorite story character is Ardbert because... dude really goes through some very well written character development. And I also like characters who have a history with mental health issues like he does. But my de facto favorite character is my own Warrior of Light. I have never bawled my eyes out for another character more than I did for my own, especially in ShB.
Daddy Thancred. Though he was my favorite even in ARR and I was concerned when he turned out to be Laha and how it made no sense with his character until then. Was relieved when possession plot point came out. Best boi didn't betray. Kururu on the second place.

My fav character is a unique character who appears on Scholars quest only (and in a dungeon: The Wanderer’s Palace (hard)) and they is named Surito Carito
Its hard to pick, Graha is one of my favorites, but I absolutely love all the characters in the Manderville crew. Especially Godbert and Hildibrand. Any characters that can make me laugh are instant favorites for me.
I wouldn't necessarily say Minfillia is my favorite but I like her because it so often seems like few others did and she got shunted to the side because nobody knew what to do with her.
Minfillia's main issue was that all her character development happened in 1.0 (something that the majority of players know very little about) so she's already *finished* her arc by the time we meet her in ARR and she comes off very flat. Not to mention ARR doesn't do the best storytelling for it's minor characters, so most of the time she's simply shown standing by her desk instead of any of the actual work she does as the leader of a major organisation. It's not until after her death that you learn about her background from F'lahmiin and, even then, it's a very cliffnotes version. It's not mentioned how her father was a Garlean spy, or how she had to learn mining to provide for herself after becoming an orphan, or the reasons behind her name change being that the Garleans would likely have hunted her for her echo powers so she had to go into hiding. Louisoix personally asked her to take leadership of the Circle of Knowing once he was gone, as he saw what a competent and effective leader she could be - she's not the ineffectual damsel in distress most people make her out to be. There's so much good things about her that just... don't exist anymore.
@@ayanhart Having gone through ARR with an alt I do think there is some nice development near the end for her, with her having a little crisis of faith before being called to a higher purpose, but yeah it's nothing compared to what the rest of the cast would get. (And of course 1.0 may as well be a sealed vault for how weird the cutscenes are structured and how even private servers can't actually duplicate most of the server-side content.)

What if I can’t choose a favourite? So many of these just made me go “omg, yup, that’s a mood 😆”, but it’s hard to pick a full on favourite. Now, the one I RELATE to most? Meteion. Hands down. I am the same type of person, curious about everything, deeply touched by other peoples emotions and wants to understand people and help alleviate their emotional pain, but time and time again, I find being around too much negativity without some levity or time alone to recharge causes me to spiral into despair. I would absolutely be the one to end the world just to stop the suffering if I ever lost sight of how important pain and suffering can be in our journey to finding true joy.
Ga Bu is one of my favorites, for reasons I'll not spoil. I love how the story kept coming back to touch on him in later expansions. My favorite character is Emet-Selch, but I would tie him with my second favorite character, Lahabrea, and third favorite character, Elidibus. I think each of them is a charismatic and powerful antagonist despite each suffering some mishandling at the hands of the writers. I struggle to call them outright villains since their motives are noble and the fact that they were put into situation they were is thanks to actions of Hermes and Venat. They don’t need to be fixed or helped, they don’t need to be taught to move on, they are wonderful as they are and I would do the same in their shoes. Rip the Unsundered, it’s incredibly sad that they had to die knowing they accomplished nothing.

While I was thinking which characters might be my favorite (and I don`t think I can pick one singular), I didn`t think of those.
And yes, I found Feo Ul to be very enjoyable in her scenes. She is just funny as hell.
Personally I do prefer Godbert to Hildi. But they are both funny on their own right, and would not work as well without the other.
Feo ul was not mentioned by his beautiful sapling in this video. Now his ignorant sapling must play with him for three straight months with no sleep.

Lahabrea’s my favorite because my conspiracy corkboard takes up an entire wall and I can analyze that dude’s psychology for hours without taking a break. I’ve analyzed shot framing, arc projection, narrative structure, trial songs/mechanics, dungeon and random NPC lore details, scenery, seasonal events, ancient society/culture, Zoarastrianism, Kabbalah, Jungian psychology, and more that ties into what’s up with him. I am just a step short of reading the future in tea leaves and planetary positions here. Was not surprised by the Abyssos reveals and have been looking under every rock for Lahabrea to return in MSQ since Endwalker kicked off. I get sincerely sad for the dude, he needs a ton of therapy. I’ve loved him to bits before having any clue what he looked like and at this point he could literally show up with a paper bag on his head and I’d be delighted.
Some fans specifically like sad older guys. Some vibe with his tired energy. Some think he cackles in ARR because he’s the flat villain who will do whatever the plot demands. Others think he hasn’t slept in five days, is hysterical, and can barely string a thought together. In Toto-Rak, Lahabrea made an excuse that he only sounds incoherent because sundered language sucks upon realizing the Warrior understands Ancient, talked in a complete circle about bedtime (using five different synonyms for interesting), threw a bug at the Warrior, and ran away. Could be iffy writing but could also be the guy’s a loser nerd who lost control of his life and is trying his best to seem intimidating.
I think he’s been done real dirty from the moment he showed up onscreen and is due to return anytime now.

My favorites are Haurchefant, Hythlodaeus, and Erenville. I'm sweet, friendly, and like people who are kind, competent, and emotionally mature. I also like Urianger because he's a lot like me- seems very aloof and put together/mysterious, but is secretly a massive dork who gets easily flustered. Funnily enough, I am an artist just like you guessed!

Emet-Selch will always be my favourite, I just love sarcastic villains with tragic back stories. Not to mention the whole [[SPOILER INCOMING YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! -->]] WoL being a sundered version of someone he knew and was close to, that just writes romantic plots all by itself and then leaves you emotionally devasted :D.... T_T I miss him.
As someone with the exact same head cannon, I agree haha (although Yugiri is my personal favorite)
I would say my favorite character in the story is my own WoL and my friend's WoL. Their slice of life romantic story, partially revolving around the MSQ - sometimes heavily when we pass through expansions - is so vibrant and full of personality and affection. While it might be just Roleplay/Fanfic, it gives them the dimensions the MSQ doesn't really give. I haven't been all that invested in the story as the times when me and my friend fully roleplay through it, bickering and flirting and turning one off locations into memorable ones by just having our characters interact differently than if they were to be going through the story solo.
Where was Ardbert, his bff time in Shadowbringers was so good.
Thancred: More I LOVE Percy from TLoVM and his VA {Talesin Jaffe) was Thancred's VA in ARR. Urianger: I like nerdy guys (see Percy comment from earlier).

Kurenai: I loved the Ruby Princess quests, and when they finished I was honestly bummed that I couldn't find her character in-world. When I found out she was a custom deliveries character I was very psyched to see her again.
Hilda: Liked her in Heavensward, wished they'd used her in more scenes.

Its hard to pick, Graha is one of my favorites, but I absolutely love all the characters in the Manderville crew. Especially Godbert and Hildibrand. Any characters that can make me laugh are instant favorites for me.

I wouldn't necessarily say Minfillia is my favorite but I like her because it so often seems like few others did and she got shunted to the side because nobody knew what to do with her.
Minfillia's main issue was that all her character development happened in 1.0 (something that the majority of players know very little about) so she's already *finished* her arc by the time we meet her in ARR and she comes off very flat. Not to mention ARR doesn't do the best storytelling for it's minor characters, so most of the time she's simply shown standing by her desk instead of any of the actual work she does as the leader of a major organisation.
It's not until after her death that you learn about her background from F'lahmiin and, even then, it's a very cliffnotes version. It's not mentioned how her father was a Garlean spy, or how she had to learn mining to provide for herself after becoming an orphan, or the reasons behind her name change being that the Garleans would likely have hunted her for her echo powers so she had to go into hiding. Louisoix personally asked her to take leadership of the Circle of Knowing once he was gone, as he saw what a competent and effective leader she could be - she's not the ineffectual damsel in distress most people make her out to be.
There's so much good things about her that just... don't exist anymore.
@@ayanhart Having gone through ARR with an alt I do think there is some nice development near the end for her, with her having a little crisis of faith before being called to a higher purpose, but yeah it's nothing compared to what the rest of the cast would get. (And of course 1.0 may as well be a sealed vault for how weird the cutscenes are structured and how even private servers can't actually duplicate most of the server-side content.)

What if I can’t choose a favourite? So many of these just made me go “omg, yup, that’s a mood 😆”, but it’s hard to pick a full on favourite. Now, the one I RELATE to most? Meteion. Hands down. I am the same type of person, curious about everything, deeply touched by other peoples emotions and wants to understand people and help alleviate their emotional pain, but time and time again, I find being around too much negativity without some levity or time alone to recharge causes me to spiral into despair. I would absolutely be the one to end the world just to stop the suffering if I ever lost sight of how important pain and suffering can be in our journey to finding true joy.

Ga Bu is one of my favorites, for reasons I'll not spoil. I love how the story kept coming back to touch on him in later expansions. Out of the ones mentioned here, Merlwyb's forthright personality makes her my favorite Eorzean leader, Hythlodaeus' kind nature wins him best side character (but my real favorite is Runar), and out of the Scions, I feel the most connection with Urianger, because he's the most like my real-life self in many ways.
