There is no law like that in China. People end up in the background on videos recorded in public and posted to video sites all the time without attribution or permission required. They were just clueless about UK/English law. They thought that they had some sort of ironclad secrecy contract that would allow them to impose those confidentiality requirements on everyone else. They literally went up to Dr K telling him (in public train station no less) that because they had a confidentiality agreement (that Dr K never entered) that he had to stop recording them.
