      @@RedHead_88ketogenic diet was first used to treat epilepsy in the 1920’s. In fact, most mental health medications were first developed as anti seizure medications and then later used to treat mental illnesses. They knew the ketogenic diet treated seizures but big pharma couldn’t make money off of the diet so when they came out with drugs to treat it they got doctors to switch to prescribing the pills. They didn’t seem to look into using the diet to treat mental illness until more recently but the doctors who did reasoned that since the original treatment for seizures was the keto diet and the meds for seizures treats mental illness the perhaps the diet will treat it too.

      In my experience as a person who used to be on several different medications and no longer is, medical professionals will actually encourage you to keep taking them even if there are natural alternatives or they're not working for you. It's best to do it yourself and not bother telling them. There are lots of good medications that are necessary (like antibiotics, chemotherapy, insulin, etc), but a lot of them are just ways for the medical industry to make money.

    Love this! As a result of the USA’s for-profit healthcare system I have always advocated for lifestyle changes as a priority for treating diagnoses (with the input of medical professionals of course). There was a time before generic Latuda was available in the States, my psychiatrist had given me 3 months of it for free to see if it worked for me, aside from a few manageable side effects it really helped… but when I went to the pharmacy to pick up the first paid prescription the total was over $500. I made $13/hr at the time, I just started crying at the pharmacy then left without the medication. I started considering the lifestyle changes that could improve my quality of life regardless of how much money I had in my pocket and it’s been great improvement! Sticking to a hard sleep schedule, ensuring I get a few hours of working out every week, creating an environment that really supports my wellness at all times - plus a very supportive partner who keeps me accountable. I’m so curious to hear more about your keto journey, maybe it’s something I should look into 🧐

    • @kawaiilotus
      @kawaiilotus 18 дней назад

      What, where you live doctors can give you a free trial of medicine then just take it away like it never happened, that's 500 was before insurance right?!?? The NHS is shoddy especially mental ill health provision and it needs fixing but at least everything is free at the point of use (other than £9 a prescription in England unless you are on a £99 a year scheme but the rest of the UK is free and also if you are a child or on benefits what is like our social security but more all encompassing I think) and everything is pretty much a generic, I feel so bad for you, good healthcare is a right not a privilege. I do agree a holistic approach needs to be taken having a healthy lifestyle, going to therapy plus doing therapeutic things and a light but effective touch of medicine when needed is the way to go unfortunately many people only manage to do one of these things at a time if that, I'm not blaming anyone it's difficult to keep on top of things at the best of times even when you have a fabulous support network around you, brain and body health is wealth though and everyone owes it to themselves to look after their own being as much as they can.
      Did you manage to sort out your prescription?
      I'm going to look into doing keto again even just for a bit as I felt great on it.

      @@diaryofilththey use a high fat keto diet for epilepsy and seizures too. Our brains are mostly fat, it makes sense on a basic level that it would like good fats to function well. Dr ilardia uses a certain dose, type and ratio of essential fatty acids as one of the steps in his 'Depression Cure." That step alone gives results at least as good as some of the most popular antidepressants, without any of the side effects and other health benefits too.
      There's no money to be made from dietary treatments and natural remedies which is why there's little money for research yet for some they can be very effective. There is also a very good feeling that comes from being an active rather than passive participant in your treatment. I'm medication free and doing well. But you don't have to stop meds to try it. It's simply a dietary supplement (and keto friendly). I hope this helps someone.

    Hello, can you suggest me a way to live peacefully with someone who has schizophrenia. My aunt is schizophrenic. She always made up horrible stories about me. When i was little, my mom tortured me because my aunt told i was a naughty kid. In 2019, she told my mom that i stole money which didn't exist and my mom almost kicked me out of the house. At one point, she almost killed my mom by stepping on her chest and said she was repelling evil but my mom refused to believe my aunt was psychotic. Finally, aftery aunt burnt down the house and police suggested my mom to bring her to the hospital and my aunt was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Now my aunt keeps making stories about me, calling me a whore because i was the one who brought her to the mental hospital. A pervert even approached me because he thought what she said was true. I'm still single because my aunt bullshit me to my previous boyfriend's mother. My mom told me that just ignore her because she's mentally ill. But it's still annoying that I still have to bring food to her house because she's poor and i don't want her to attack my weak mom.. 😢😢😢 I don't think i can sympathize with her conditions any more
