What are the "do's and don'ts" when creating a subreddit and does Reddit have the rules about making a subreddit. Also, how do you get visibility or your subreddit once you have created it?

Hey, not sure if there has been an update since this was posted. But I actually did these steps sorta backwards and created a subreddit from a new account I just created the same day. and with only 1 karma (although I think I got the karma afterwards lol)
I didn't create a subreddit, but rather took one over that only had one mod who was suspended. Think everything is set except I don't know how to turn off the need to approve new members. I have never been apart of a subreddit where you needed to be pre-approved to join and don't see the need to run this subreddit as such.
It says error when i try to. Am i doing something wrong or is it reddit that has difficulties?
My reddit home page is way too different from yours and the Create Community button isn't where it's suppose to be

I might be alone in this, but I would have liked to have every choice briefly explained or at least clicked on so I could read for myself.. but especially for things you’d be able to get ready before starting, just for example, what is the image size needed for custom upvote/downvote buttons? What is the second banner image even for? (Not mobile)
Other things that I was looking for were, how do you go about finding moderators to help you? What does being a moderator involve? What is the difference between the creator or moderators? Wtf is automod? What are the different post types for, i.e. “Live Chat” vs regular? Why do some subs have a generic photo as a preview for notifications, but some you can see the actual post, and how do we set which one we want? How do we decide and choose the user or post flairs? What does that even entail? What about setting up the badges for participation? Can you start restricted and change to public after you set everything up, or is there even any point to doing it that way? What if a sub name is taken, how does Reddit Request work?
This one might be too specific, but if you wanted to make a community like PhotoshopRequests, and have people pay for art requests. Could you have a community like that, but also have a free section for non-specific requests? Is all of this up to me, or are there rules one could break? Are you allowed to have a subreddit that does art-type requests, but also members can advertise things they’ve made that maybe they’re selling thru an outside website (etsy, eBay, etc).
I know I could do some more research on Reddit, but my brain is getting weary from all the reading and searching and not understanding squat about the terminology and rules that everybody else seems to inherently just know and speak like it’s second nature.
I’m sorry. This being my first video on the subject, it did help a little. I’m just so overwhelmed and tired. I’m probably just going to drop it.
