My father always made the Christmas pudding. Sadly he passed away without teaching anyone his recipe. Two years ago I was going through some old papers of his and found, in his hand writing, the recipe!!!! I had to look up how to steam it because he didn't write instructions. It's a taste of my childhood! So many wonderful memories are tied up in those flavors! And yes I framed the recipe! 🤭😂 Thank you so much for sharing your evening. So fun!!!
I would do the same! Make sure you makea good quality photo copy! I have a few hand written nots that the ink has disappeared over time from the sun light!
I love how you drop everything for Earnest. He's so cute and adorable! Love how he knows that his uncle Michael is the master of everything and he prefers you to peel and core his apples over anyone else....lol
Brilliant video Michael! You and Florian are so much fun together. The bourbon seemed to be very strong and your reaction was great! I love how natural you are doing these videos with laughter, intelligent conversation, cooking, and peeling the apple for your sweet nephew Ernest!!! How lucky he is to grow up with his extended family around him, teaching him, sharing stories with him and providing a loving home for him and his baby brother. Can’t wait to see the pudding tomorrow. 💕🎄🎁🎄
Thank you Michael for this interesting and entertaining vlog on how to make a Christmas pudding. A good way to celebrate Winter Solstice. Ernest coming to get his apple cored and peeled was the icing on the cake- so sweet! Great job Michael and Florian🎄🙏🏻❤️
Great that you are getting Florian involved, you two work so well together, his cheeky banter is so funny, such a lovely guy. So nice to have you back making content again and as always entertaining. Robb Torremolinos Spain 😘
A funny definition: 1) "Angels’ share", in other words a specific amount of the distillate which year by year leaves the cask and reaches the empyrean, intoxicating the cherubs. 2) The expression “the devil’s cut” refers to the loss of distillate which is absorbed by the wood of the casks. In this case, since it is not evaporation, the devil’s cut does not affect the alcohol content of the product, but depends solely on the porosity of the wood used. That's why a cask can be re-used & the aroma is amazing. Great video; be well & have a safe & healthy holiday.
You look so Very Happy, Micheal . . . . this Holiday Season, Love all the colors in your cottage, (not sure when you added that amazing hanging landscape) and Merry Christmas to you Florian and the Petherick family
Lovely to see you back 😀 and looking forward to seeing your upstairs renovation in the new year. Also loving ❤ the cooking and decorating....enjoy your Christmas 🎄 with your beautiful family 👪 merry Christmas!!
I love how you just take it in your stride ,while filming, to core and peel Ernests apple!! You truly are wonderful Michael. It was a beautiful winter solstice here where I live, in Canada. The sky turned a lovely shade pink . Great vlog!! Merry Christmas!🎄🎄
You have to remember that cooking shows are hugely popular here in the US. People love watching other people cooking. Don’t cut the food preparation parts of the video.

Love this vlog Michael. I was dying of laughter during the rum tasting! Little Ernest seeking out uncle Michael to peel his apple was adorable! Merry Christmas! I cannot wait to see the Christmas pudding come out of the steamer!
Another great video Michael. Can't wait to see the finished pudding. My grandmother and mother always made this every Christmas, unfortunately I have never made it but maybe one day. Thank you!!
What a mold you have there for your pudding, Michael. I like the very British touch that you bring … I’m looking forward to seeing your pudding brought to the table on Christmas Day.
Michael, I just binged watched all your videos while I prepared my home for Christmas with my family. I want you to know that I truly enjoyed your entire family and all fun and adventures. I don’t even remember how I found you but once I did, I was totally hooked! Merry Christmas to you and yours from California! I’ve been to France many times and am in love with everything Parisian! Wishing you all the best in life and much happiness!!! P. S. You are living my dream and so glad you are sharing yours with us!!! 🎄🎅🏽♥️🙏🏼😊🤗☃️
Your channel take me to Christmas past - sixty years ago with my Granny’s pudding aflame arriving at the dining table and the Hard Sauce. I can actually taste it. Thank you! You are a man of many talents and the pudding looks great!
Michael, you are such a naturally curious person. I love how much you know about so many things and Earnest certainly knows who to come to to get the peel off the apple. What an absolutely wonderful family community in which he is being raised.
This was a fun video...love seeing you cook with no worries if you have what you need. Make do! I use to watch my grandmother wisk away using that "weird" stirrer to make mexican hot chocolate. Lol! Lucky Charms are still sold here in the UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 and yes they are NOT good for us but they are fun to eat. Ha! 🍀 Happy Yuletide! 😊
Enjoyed spending this holiday time with you & your family Michael! A quick pop-in from Ernest in need of snack assistance, catching the Winter solstice with Florian, and seeing the making of a Christmas cake that's looking like fruitcake! 😳🙃😁❤from Ohio
Loved the videos!...your cooking isn't boring to us!...love watching you cook or bake! Your vlogs are always entertaining. Keep the vlogs coming. You are a joy!...Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Mama Stamburg’s cranberry relish. 2 cups whole cranberry’s 1 small onion 3/4 cup sour cream 2 tablespoons of horseradish Put in a blender. Creamy or chunky depends on blend.
I wonder if you could substitute breadcrumbs with bashed croutons?... The cottage is looking lovely and cosy. I like the layout and the colours. The tapestry is a perfect addition.

I made a cranberry, ginger, dried apricot, Granny Smith apple chutney with brown sugar & a dried red pepper for bite. The juice was apple cider vinegar & kombucha! It was FABULOUS. Delicious- Then I used the leftovers from Thanksgiving for gravy on my stuffed cabbage rolls with pork. Really tasty !
How lovely that pudding looks can’t wait to see tomorrow how it turned out..your nephew is a doll he’s so curious..was watching you peel that apple so cute..💞
The alcohol content of the rich pudding or fruit cake and TIME develops the flavour of the entire ingredients. It is also affected by the relative humidity. A decent Christmas pud or fruit cake is akin to a fine wine....time, patience and love gives you the very best results.
Your pup is snug as a bug under the tree; precious! You are quite the cook ! I just paid 7 Euros for 283 grams (10 ounces) for dried cranberries today. I saw your big bag of cranberries and couldn’t imagine what that would cost here in the States. Holiday baking is my labor of love to family and friends.❤️🎄
