    I passed my aPHR exam this morning! This is an AMAZING free resource for exam prep. I have worked in HR for two years (in talent acquisition) and have taken management classes so there was so overlap of knowledge already, but I would not have passed without this series! It goes very deep into the material and covers pretty much everything you will be asked on the exam. I also bought a study guide from Amazon, but that was it for prep material. This is great for general knowledge as well. I've bookmarked this series for future reference. THANK YOU!!!

      @@hudamasood2985 I did not find it as hard as some have said. It was like many other tests I have taken before. Since taking the aPHR I have also taken the PHR, SPHR, and SHRM-CP exams. I used this videos in studying for all of the exams and passed each of them. My experience:
      aPHR: Make sure you know each of the cometency areas well. The test was focused on definition of terms, laws and theories. I had several questions on labor relations and maybe one metrics question on yield ratio.
      PHR: Just like the aPHR, but half of the test was application of the knowledge.
      SHRM-CP: Primarily application based. A few knowledge based questions, but the bulk of the exam was scenario. Think HRBP when answering. For each question consider how both HR and organizational goals can best be met

      It's not an exact comparison, but is close--just shy of being equal to the SHRM-CP. The SHRM-CP is the equivalent of the PHR and SHRM-SCP is the equivalent of the SPHR. Both are equally great, but HRCI has been around longest and is, in my view, the most trusted.

My advice: Listen to this in your car and get a good PHR handbook and make it a part of you and you will EASILY knock out the aPHR. Certainly, yes. The main difference is the focus on metrics and using graphic rating scales, performance evals, and things like calculating overtime. Also, it goes deeper into comp & benefits and trust fund types and balance sheet topics. Pretty much, though, this covers it.
      We still plan to do a PHR version soon.

      Yes, but it will involve another app. RUclips won't allow it (even though Hardin-Smith is good with you doing it). But you can do it easily if you download ClipGrab. Once saved, it won't be hard to get them on your tablet or phone. Only as one of the creators- and with RUclips Premium - can I even download the content I put up! You'd think they'd have an easy option for content that is okayed by the creators to be downloaded!

    In your opinion, are your study guides enough to pass the aPHR, without having to buy the study materials?

    • @HRWhiplash
      @HRWhiplash  6 лет назад +6

      Yes. It should easily be enough. Although, grabbing up a second study manual just makes sense (depending, of course, on your background). The less you know coming in, the more you ought to find it sound to justify buying 2 or maybe even 3 study manuals. My course here gives a bit more substance, similar to the PHR prep course. But my aim is to convey what others miss -- which is to say that, to pass the exam, a person must understand how the various laws interact in scenario-based questions. It's not enough to just memorize a whole bunch of facts. That's a common mistake.

      aPHR is very close to PHR. But really, it would be PHR vs SHRM CP or SPHR vs SHRM SCP. HRCI is the older name in the human resources game. But both are well-established and legit, though, and definitely worth it.
